- In this out and about video i spend a few hours at Cardiff Central. Was very nice to get to a station the see some big trains and was great to see a good old class 37 at work again.
Makes me homesick watching this video. Moved away from Cardiff in 2004. Living in Malta.
Beautiful video.
Great video, thank you
Very nice compilation of rail traffic! 👍 Thumbs up!
Absolute great work...Epic images....Big like & respect from Romania💖💖💖👍👀
Very enjoyable. Wish I had that variety of trains at my local station, but probably not much chance of oil and steel trains at King's Lynn, only sand.
great video matt ive only been to cardiff once a long time ago would have got there this year to do some filming but the lockdown situation made that impossible, hopefully next year sometime, keep up the good work. Tom
Thank you Tow. its a good station to spend some time at
Very good Matt, quite a variation there. I noticed you had a few of our GA coaches cascaded down your way, I'm sure they'll see good service for a few more years. 👍Take care and stay safe. JB.
sadly not most of the GA coaches have gone to Newport for scrapping
@@Mattslade6024 Oh, thanks for that Matt, good job the Mid Norfolk managed to save some. It's a shame they couldn't be utilised elsewhere instead of being scrapped...take care mate and stay safe. 🙂
Another awesome collection of footage there Matt 👍🏻.
Thank you
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! More Cardiff Train-spotting. Thank you Matt
i will be doing more videos at Cardiff
I wonder where the former Greater Anglia coaches being hauled by the Class 37 were going, they looked in good shape and probably still do have life left in them, the Class 170's who TFW had from GA, operate on the Cardiff to Ebbw Vale route, they are lovely comfortable trains and are very quiet inside hardly any track or engine noise , only thing that is holding them back a bit is no WiFi,
when the 37 passed though in that night shot it was taking them to castle donington.
Very entertaining and enjoyable video 🔥.
Thank you
Can't travel by train any more, but love to watch them from my window overlooking the Rhymney Valley line. Not interested in the flashy new ones, but for a few short months, got a lot of pleasure from watching (and hearing!) the Class 37 locos, sadly now gone. Any idea what pulls the rust-coloured freight several times a day, on this line? Don't see much this time of the year, because of all the foliage, but thanks for wonderful footage. x
Matthew another superb video there and for me that court my likeness was the Transport for Wales 769 which looks nice in that livery it was also strange to see a cross country 220 in day light at cardiff and how about that 37 then iam sorry it failed to impress me as the driver never open up tho a great night shot all round especially seeing GBRF Evening Star which was heading for Trostre the Transport for Wales wag set looked stunning tho I have seen a video when it was on test at pontypool and new Inn station. So overall marks out of 10 is 10 and hopefully you'll be out and about somewhere on the network soon best wishes. JJ ❤
Thanks JJ
voyager is a regular...its on the cardiff -nottingham route and one or two others..
Fantastic video Matt.
I especially like the Class 66 Diesel Locomotives including 66 779 Evening Star, named after British Railways Last Steam Locomotive, the 9F No.92220, also named Evening Star.
yeah was good to see Evening Star
Loved that 👍👍😀
Thank you
Nice to see ower old Anglia 170 units
yeah they are much better that what we have down this way
@@Mattslade6024 those 170s really nice trains to travel on, comfortable seats and aircon which always seemed a good temperature
Great video!
Stood here many times for Arriva trains up to Aberdare
Very nice captures Matt, was there on Monday, weather was bit rubbish later in day tho, glad the lockdown been taken off, can get out about more
Thanks Colin
Hiya Matt you caught some great footage my friend
Thank you
great video Matt !
Thanks Merv
Thanks for sharing, Matt and keeping us happy during these current stressful times 👍!
I wonder how many Mark 3 coaches a single Class 37 can pull - on my 2010 Engineering Edition rail simulator, the longest 37-hauled Mark 3 is 7 coaches (5 of them Mark 3 sleepers).
Thanks Mitchell. i did see a 37 on a rail tour with about 10 coaches on a few years back
Some great mk3 sounds there!
yeah i do miss them sounds
Matt can you add numbers to what you film please
Nice video mate loving the DVT
Thanks Jack
very nice to see 66779, the last of the lot.
yeah i was very happy to catch that
Nice vid Matt
Thank you
Cool trains you got over there in The UK.
yeah cool but most are qiut old
Hi Matt .New Subscriber from Myanmar.
They have changed the trains. The copies are different too.
How come there were 91’s there? I’m assuming they were from the proposal to run them from London?
no its running with the new TFW MK4 set with the 67 at the other end
Have the 769s had there pantographs removed? And mk3s off to scrap?
yeah the pantographs have been removed and as fir the MK3s i dont no what they were doing with them
Cheers
thanks nice to see cardiff station again after so long how fare have they got with the over head wires ?
all the wires are done from London to Cardiff
Enjoyed that Matt though totally kicking myself for not getting out in Tuesday. My current spot at STJ offers no shelter and it was miserably wet! Are the 769s in service now? Puzzled where the 37 was taking the Mk3s - usually they are heading straight for Sims at Newport.
yeah the 769s are now in service.
Those Greater Anglia carriages are a long way from home!
Greater Anglia stopped using them early this year.
@@LNER985 I know, we've got them fancy new FLIRT things now 👍🏻
Does anyone know why that 37 was carrying some Greater Anglia Mk3 stock?
I think the plan is to replace it with rolling stock cascaded from the East Coast main line, namely the MK4 stock.
@@markcf83 ah right thanks
It came down to Canton with the mk3s to collect the last TfW mk3 that was left there. There was an issue with it so I believe the others were used for brake force
Yo Matt, I’m local around your area, but I’m usually trainspotting around the Cardiff and Bridgend area. I’m going to Severn Tunnel Junction on the 6th of December to catch a charter, fancy joining me?
sorry ill just had a look and im in work on that date
Why where the great anglia coaches going to Cardiff ?
They got replaced by the 755s so TfW took them.
@@JacobsTrainVideos in addition to that they are enabling Class 150 units to run in pairs. Once the Class 769 units are finished they'll hopefully replace what remains of the Pacers.
@@markcf83 can't wait
@@JacobsTrainVideos for which services?
good vidio
Thank you
What was that 220 doing at cardiff?
its regular service to nottingham...
@@russouk isn’t it normally 170’s on the cardiff to nottingham?
You started your new layout yet Matt?
yeah started it at the start of the year
Great video Matt the DVT looked very nice in that livery is it the transport for Wales livery?
yeah it does look good. will be good to see it in service soon
ex LNER but they havent finished adding new vinyl of TFW livery yet...same for the anglian stock shown....
Damn! At 2:13 I thought my train had arrived!
haha still seems odd seeing them run in South Wales
Nice one! Are the premier express sets actually in service yet?
No, they are still being tested and converted.
@@JacobsTrainVideos sorry to say they are in service now. The first one to run in service was on Monday
@@Mattslade6024 Yikes
If Network Rail were to continue with the electrification to Swansea. Would GWR Class 800 and Class 802 IETs could be able to run from London Paddington to Swansea on AC 25kv OHLE. But somehow the electrification ends after Cardiff Central. With Transport for Wales to order new Bi-Mode/Tri-Mode and Electric-Battery rolling stocks to replace the Pacers and other older diesel trains that TfW wants to get rid of. As they are ordering the Class 197, Class 230, Class 231, Class 398, Class 756 and Class 769 rolling stocks.

29/5/21: The day Transport For Wales will fully get rid of the pacers
Obeying the lockdown I see... unless the Welsh rules are different.
We are not in lockdown in Wales. We can travel anywhere in Wales
