- Hey what's going on guys it's ya boy Mike excited to bring you season 2 episode 5!! So we had ALOT of issues with this one. Somehow someway we accidentally recorded this one in 4k. That, in turn, maxed out Aaron's phone storage and put us in a spot where we literally couldn't do anything. But luckily with the power of friendship we somehow managed to oull the clip and lower the quality. I tried to get it to 1080 but it would've taken 5 days to export so I just I settled for 720. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes but to any of our fans who it does affect, I'm sorry! We tried our best!
Just wanna say thanks again to all our subs were so happy to have hit 700 and were hyped to keep the climb going. We love you all thanks again ❤️

I've read the books. I've watched the show 3 times through. At one point I was subscribed to 20 different reaction channels covering GOT. Just when I thought I was finally starting to get tired of them...I saw this channel in my recommendations like a week ago and it resparked my interest so much that I binged all your episodes and subbed. It is so incredibly entertaining watching you both react to the episodes, going through the range of emotions, and excitedly discussing what you think will happen next. I don't often leave comments, but I wanted to say what a good job you guys are doing!

The name of Arya's new friend is Jaqen H'ghar. He introduced himself when Arya first met him when he was locked in the cage. Probably my favorite character in this show

Renly had the biggest army at 100,000, but his plan was to let the Starks and Lannisters fight each other while he held feasts and tournaments, then come in after they are done and defeat whatever tired army won.
And one of the things not really elaborated on is that Renly himself was unaware of the incest. He fully believed that Joffrey and Tommen were his nephews, but still intended to kill them. In fact, in the book he claims Stannis is lying about the incest to justify fighting Joffrey.
And as the 4th in line to the throne, if Renly were to become king, every second or third born son would have a legal justification to overthrow their older siblings for power. Imagine if Bran wanted to be King of the North, so he goes to war with Robb. He could point to Renly and say “He did it, so why can’t I?”

Brienne pledging her sword to Catelyn was a heartwarming scene, wasn't it? Keep it in mind. GoT has a twisted way with these moments.
It wasn't just arrogance that made Renly think he would skip the line of succession. No-one liked Stannis and no-one would fight for him. Keep in mind that only Stannis got the letter about Joffrey being a bastard, not Renly. Renly made his claim without any knowledge of Joffrey beng a bastard. So from Renlys perspective, Stannis is as much trying to jump the line of succession as he is.
He kept trying to steal Stannis throne after knowing Joffrey was a bastard. He got himself killed
@@monie3558 Well yes, but Renly obviously didn't really expect to be assassinated by a shadow demon. He knew he had the numbers to walk all over Stannis in conventional combat.
Also Renly didn't really believe that Joffrey wasn't Roberts. He thought it was an excuse made up by Stannis.
@Alyssa Ravenheart From Tyrell/Renlys perspective it was either... back Joffrey (in which they and the Tyrells get nothing) or back Stannis (a deeply unpopular and uncharismatic man who also would've offered them very little, and who the Tyrells had no love for especially - they would never have backed him)

Just to note beginning of the video, I know it all changed - but Renlys forces outnumbered the Lannisters. Tywin had the Lannisters and the Crownlands (Capital Territory). Renly had the majority of the Stormlands (Baratheon) and the Reach (Tyrell). Stannis forces were pitiful compared to Renly and Tywin, and he had to take out Renly to take the Baratheon forces he needed. If Rely had defeated Stannis forces in combat and linked up with the Starks and Tullys (Catelyns family), they'd have utterly outnumbered the Lannisters.
Renly had no need to negotiate for Stannis forces because Stannis was so deeply unpopular and unlikable a person that at that point, almost no-one had come to his side.

Book Renly was far meaner. But, in any event, Renly was a usurper and knew it. He was not cut out to be king. He was more interested in being popular and couldn't make the hard decisions. Not the man to defeat the Night. He was planning on killing Stannis, but Stannis beat him to it.

RIP Renly! There is a deleted scene from the show on youtube in which loras (Renly's boyfriend) is sitting next to renly's armor talking to his sister after the death of the king. He tells her that he himself gave Renly the idea that he should be the king. Renly initially did not want to, but loras convinced him that people love him and then they could be together. So Loras blames himself for Renly's death. I think it should have stayed in the show.because it shows renly's character differently. Btw Renly is in my top 10 character even if he was so short in the series. There is really good scene in s5 when two people talks about renly and it shows how good and kind person he was, after this scene his death started to hurt me and he began to care for me as a character. It is a pity that Ned did not support Renly. Everything would be different then
Brienne of Tarth is my favorite side character at this point in the show. She is honorable and badass. If Cat didn't see Renly get killed I'd hate to think what would've happened to Brienne. Who the hell would believe he was murdered by a smoke monster demon baby with the face of Stannis Boratheon?..The scenes between Tywin and Arya are easily in my top tier for writing in this show. I love their dynamic and how anxious I feel everytime they have a conversation. I am always on edge, hoping and praying he doesn't realize who she is... Another great reaction guys. This show is next level addictive. The twists and turns from Season 1 to the end will have you two falling off your chairs. See you next time!
Brienne is a beast dude forreal ... and like I said in the episdoe, Tywin is SCARY smart. I'd go as far to say the smartest in the show but I've yet to see who we'll meet

FYI. The Tywin & Arya moments together are one of the best of the entire show. This was not written in George's books, as they did not meet in the books.

I have to disagree. Of course, one can't deny that Charles Dance's performance is outstanding and so every extra second of him on screen is a treat. But from a storytelling perspective, those scenes between Arya and Tywin make Tywin look like quite a fool.
Spoilers up until season 4 (you know what not to do, Mike/Aaron)
Like, the second he realizes that girl is a Northerner he should immediately remove her from his direct vicinity, even more so after he learns that her father died due to “loyalty”. Instead, he keeps her as his cupbearer, let’s down his guard several times and even turns the back to her after giving her a knife straight into the hand. He sure as hell got pretty lucky, that Arva still had a conscience.
And even worse, later on he realizes she is a high-born Northern lady. How many of those do you think run around south of the Neck? And even if the coin didn’t drop at that point, she is still a high-born Northern lady. There is virtually no reason to not immediately imprison her instead of letting her roam freely and eventually escape. The only good hostage is an imprisoned hostage.
The Tywin, who orchestrated the whole Westerling and Red Wedding scheme, would have never done such simple mistakes. And coincidentally they also removed half of that plot.
So a couple points about Melisandre. First one of you said you don’t trust or know her motivations. She told us her motivations and goals the last episode when she gave birth. She said she was a knight herself and was trying to defeat the darkness taking over the world. How can anyone not like those motivations?? Second Stannis absolutely knew and had planned to kill Renly using her magic. And third Davis says “you won Renly’s men. Don’t lose them to her.” But that doesn’t make any sense because he only won those men because of Melisandre.

I'm not so sure that Stannis knew by what means Melisandre would cause the death of Renly, only that Melisandre would be able to eliminate him through some sort of magic/witchcraft.
Fun fact - episode name The Ghost of Harrenhal is referring to Aria - there, she is s little servant girl, yet she decides who lives and dies, and no one knows that she commands death, so she is like an invisible murderer.
As Aaron said, it's magic, but more importantly, time in this show is, shall we say, fluid. It is difficult to say precisely how much time has passed from any given moment to another. Travel time is virtually non-existent in a work where a thousand mile journey could take months or, somehow, miraculously overnight.
Brienne of Tarth is a glorious BEAST. Much like Gunny Sgt Bobby Draper from "The Expanse." Brienne is one of the most noble and worthy Knights in the Seven Kingdoms, who's not even a knight. She comes by it through her grandfather, Ser Duncan the Tall, who was a traveling Hedge Knight.
A little bit of side history and lore not told in the History and Lore specials; Ser Duncan the Tall was also grandfather to Hodor, the big guy who carries Bran around on his back. Like I said, Dunk was a traveling Knight who got around in more ways than one. Dunk's squire was a young lad known to most as "Egg." But Egg had a secret identity; he was actually the young Prince Aegon Targaryen. Egg was never high on the list of heirs to the Iron Throne, but due to a series of unfortunate events, young Egg grew up to sit the Iron Throne as Aegon, 5th of his name. Young Aegon V was Maester Aemon's baby brother, who sat the thrine when Amon declined because he was a sworn Maester of the Citadel. You will hear Maester Aemon from time to time speak of "Egg."
Stannis absolutely knew what Melisandre was up to. That's why he asked Ser Davos to "smuggle" the Red Woman into Storm's End. A LOT of people dig Stannis. They call him "Stannis the mannis." My understanding/impression is that most, if not all of them, are the MGTOW/Mens rights incel "Sigma grinder" types. But the true "sigmas" in the show, (if you buy into that stuff), would be Prince Oberyn Martell, The Red Viper of Dorne, (who you meet in season 4 and is one of the coolest characters in the story. ), and "The King Beyond The Wall," Mance Rayder, also Tormund Giantsbane. As far as I'm concerned, Stannis is one of the most vile characters in the story. You just saw one reason why I say that: you'll see more as the story progresses.

Renly's force outnumbered the Lannisters. Renly had his own Baratheon loyalists plus the entire army of the Reach thanks to Loras. Unfortunately pretty much all of it has now switched sides to Stannis' making him the man with the biggest army in Westeros currently. Tywin and Rob are hard pressed as they are playing cat and mouse with each other in the Riverlands. Each army putting pressure on the other but not having the strength to deal a decisive blow.
Renly has the majority BARATHEON (Storm lands) army & full TYRELL army (land of Reach). He had the biggest army , 100,000 as Robb stark told his mother.
Davos and Brienne hands down my favorite GOT characters.

It is odd how openly gay Renly and Loras are in the show. In the books it is hinted but far from confirmed that they were lovers. And while homosexuality in this world is not so grievous to be punished by death, it would definitely be a scandal for a king to be gay. There is no way Renly could get as many to rally behind him as he did if his activities were out in the open.

Daenerys just realised Jorah was in love with her because of the conversation she had with Zaro and also because of Jorah's words "Sometimes, I just can't believe you are real". Tha't's why she's a little rude with him at this moment : that make her very incomfortable because she trusts him and thinks he could want more than just be her "friend". She wants to see if he would stay loyal to her even she doesn't want a love story with him.

@@bustreacts Jorah chose his side when he knew he couldn't live with himself if she got assassinated off information he'd given. After that, he always sees it as his duty and responsibility to protect her. His loyalty and care for her safety far outweighs his romantic feelings.
