One day I was feeling so depressed and thought nothing was going to bring me back and I watched one of his videos , man he lifted my spirits right up…he is sorely miss
@@alansabin7487 Never have seen him in this type of situation on Carson. He said once that it took months to prepare his usual routines when he was supposed to appear, this seemed like a last minute fill in type of thing. Still very funny, but you can kind of feel his uneasiness in being in a more straightforward interview format.
Rodney Dangerfield was the best one liner standup comedian. He may be gone, but his jokes will last forever. "I was so ugly, when I was born I found out after the doctor smacked me the nurse got in a few licks too!" 😆
No f bombs every ten seconds, no profanity I've never heard Rodney use the word sht or even damn but I've laughed my ass off more than once thanks to his genius.
1 year after i was born i sometimes wish these videos where recent in the other way (that Rodney would still be alive) .. always had respect for Rodney.. he was awesome
I would love to get into a time machine and go and relive the seventies and eighties. I miss Rodney Dangerfield a lot, Johnny and Ed too. He mentioned David Brenner, now gone too. Robert Klein is still alive though. He's a treasure.
Once when I was lost I saw a policeman and asked him to help me find my parents. I said to him, “Do you think we’ll ever find them?” He said, “I don’t know kid.” “There are so many places they can hide.”
Not good when comedians are not prepared to be funny. Guess this was just an impromptu visit. Shows just how difficult it is to be good. Which he usually is.
Dennett Boyd He was very funny but tired out at the end. Johnny would be happy to talk about anything so he didn’t have to always be funny but he didn’t like that
He's ABSOLUTELY charming, down to earth, and naturally hilarious, Karen was CLEARLY enjoying Rodney's appearance, such a wonderful and funny person!!!!!!!!
LOVED VERY sexy Karen Valentine here but Rodney was really off that night with his lack of good jokes. Not sure why. He seemed lost and not at his usual Master Comedian best with endless laughs like on other Tonight Shows. Gosh, I really miss him, Johnny and Ed.
Someone please tell me the punchline to the Henny Youngman joke. I couldn’t make it out, and I think the audience couldn’t either. Could be why it went flat.
The actress sitting next to Rodney is Karen Valentine, guys. Yeah, I don't know her, either. She's still active in the business. Looked for a list of Tonight Show guests and her name popped up for Sept 12, 1972.
"What a crowd, what a crowd. I tell ya I'm alright now but last week I was in rough shape ya know. You kidding me, nothing goes right for me ya know. I went to the track, they shot off the opening gun and killed my horse" 👌
Rodney appears to have just stopped by. He’s not in persona. He’s his real self in this clip right down to not wearing a tie. Only time I’ve ever seen him where he’s not that funny. The chemistry with Carson was almost always comedy gold.
IT WAS REFRESHING TO SEE RODNEY WITHOUT HIS TRADEMARK RED TIE, OR ANY TIE. (REGARDING THE HENNY YOUNGMAN JOKE THAT BOMBED, DID ANYONE ELSE NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PUNCHLINE WAS? EVIDENTLY THE AUDIENCE DIDN'T EITHER .)
I forgot to mention about the tattoos. A guy has mother tattooed on one shoulder, and give it to your neighbor on the other. I couldn't have thought of that in a million years.
Best joke teller probably of all time, and this is a very corny incel thing to say I don’t think I’ve ever said this on a video, forgive me but that woman next to Rodney is absolutely stunning. That’s all again I apologize I know none of you can do anything with that information
Wow...just think, Johnny would have a lot longer and with greater health (perhaps, hopefully) if he had quit the habit that night. Bu the continued to throw the dice and they came up snake eyes.
Rodney might have been the classiest comedian in terms of dealing with bad crowds. Looks em dead on and tells them how amazing they are, but ONLY if they really suck
Rodney is always gold. RIP Rodney. We definitely miss you.
RIP Rodney...we sure miss you!!!
One of a kind . Always broke me up
Certifiably nuts
@Whitey Powers How sad your fragile life must be to say this.
Love and miss Rodney! I tell ya!
Rodney Dangerfield was a brilliant COMEDIAN. There will never be another.......
One day I was feeling so depressed and thought nothing was going to bring me back and I watched one of his videos , man he lifted my spirits right up…he is sorely miss
LEGENDS NEVER DIE.
It seemed like Rodney was just visiting Johnny for a few minutes and stopped by to say hello. Karen Valentine was so adorable.
I had such a crush on Karen Valentine when i was 13 😊
His delivery was way too quick for this audience. His joke about the School being so tough that their magazine had its own obituary column was great 👍
love the one where he asked a kid to explain the law of gravity and he threw his teacher out the window.

It was so genuine when he told Johnny he was his first love! These guys had so much respect for each other....

I was so ugly that on Halloween my parents sent me as is
Two legends that will never be duplicated!
No one can or has come close as comedians as Rodney and Johnny. How I miss those days.
Greatest stand up comedian ever. The rapid fire jokes are laugh out loud funny.
way way back when comedy was still funny. 💋
No f bombs every ten seconds, no profanity I've never heard Rodney use the word sht or even damn but I've laughed my ass off more than once thanks to his genius.
Comedy is still funny, you lost your sence of humour.

Rodney looks healthy and is at the top of his game!
Ooo, loved 😍 Karen Valentine on Room 222. I appreciate her after school ensemble here.
I would love to get into a time machine and go and relive the seventies and eighties. I miss Rodney Dangerfield a lot, Johnny and Ed too. He mentioned David Brenner, now gone too. Robert Klein is still alive though. He's a treasure.
This guy was the absolute best! And Johnny too!
I've never seen him in a suit without a tie
He didn't perform a set, so no red tie.
James R. We
Me either. You can tell he worked hard on his craft and perfected it. Because all the videos with the tie was brilliant.
Didn't even notice until I read this comment, Rodney's confidence and jokes are all I noticed.
I think he looks great in that blue shirt without a tie. Looks even better. Think he looks very suave and handsome.
He is just superb, and lovely with it
Love Rodney, even when he did not do well.
Had a big crush on Karen Valentine💓💓
Me too. Loved Karen.
Really miss him, especially with what is passing for comedy these days. In fact, today he might even be canceled. Rodney one of the best ever
John insults him, and Rodney says, "Ya wanna step outside?" Jesus, I laughed my ass off!
Quite the learning curve we just saw here.
How could seven people give this clip a thumbs down.
Poor Rodney. Even the movie critics Siskel and Ebert gave him the finger.😆😆😆😆. My all time favorite comedian. No one can ever replace him.
He was truly brilliant
You know me I love crowds 😂
Nice to see the beautiful Karen Valentine.
One of the best, but he was flat this night surprisingly. Everyone had a bad night. Still one of the greats
Once when I was lost I saw a policeman and asked him to help me find my parents.
I said to him,
“Do you think we’ll ever find them?”
He said, “I don’t know kid.”
“There are so many places they can hide.”
my fav rodney joke, hands down.
A classic….like everything else he does.
so exciting to be able to see this stuff
The reason Rodney didn't do many jokes is because the red tie was missing.
John
J
H&Z Videos I put on a red tie but wasn’t funny. It must be something else
Whitey Powers It’s called a stage name.
(from Bolivia)
what a great observation ! the magic red tie was missing
Man that was a long time ago.
1972 - I was 11.
Not good when comedians are not prepared to be funny. Guess this was just an impromptu visit. Shows just how difficult it is to be good. Which he usually is.
Dennett Boyd He was very funny but tired out at the end. Johnny would be happy to talk about anything so he didn’t have to always be funny but he didn’t like that
The sheer wit is amazing
Great jokes, dead audience
I didn’t think Rodney could work without his tie.
Rodney was a treasure!
I had completely forgotten that Rodney was a regular on Dean Martin's show. Boy I would love to see that.
Was it just one season?
Think this is the only time I saw Rodney fall flat and dry up. Interesting to see how he got out of it!
I miss this show
Did you hear about the race between two ties?
It was neck and neck
Karen Valentine was a real cutie!
True comedian ❤️❤️💚💚
God, I miss him.
Great stuff on this channel. You forget what is going on in the world for a few minutes.
If rodney doesn't care the interview then it's pretty flat.
But the crowd was cold from the start
He's ABSOLUTELY charming, down to earth, and naturally hilarious, Karen was CLEARLY enjoying Rodney's appearance, such a wonderful and funny person!!!!!!!!
LOVED VERY sexy Karen Valentine here but Rodney was really off that night with his lack of good jokes. Not sure why. He seemed lost and not at his usual Master Comedian best with endless laughs like on other Tonight Shows. Gosh, I really miss him, Johnny and Ed.
yeah that is a first, he probably was processing some bad news or the stuff he had to do at work.
Room 222. What time should I be there? Only Rodney could pull that off!
Can you please upload an episode of the Dean Martin Show that features Mr. Dangerfield?
Here's part of one. ua-cam.com/video/O6NirK5CCyQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RodneyDangerfield
I loved Karen Valentine and Room 222. ❤
The crowd missed it that night!
Rodney may have not hit his stride yet at this appearance.
Tough audience!
That was cool.
When he wasn't trying to be funny, he was funny
.. that says alot about how good he really was.... RIP Rodney 😃
Rodney is HIGH!!
Look at his eyes!!
I am absolutely crazy about Rodney. This segment was very disappointing, only time I have ever been.
Karen Valentine!! What a crush I had on her. She was so friendly on Hollyweird Squares. What a doll!
A classic comedy genius.
Someone please tell me the punchline to the Henny Youngman joke. I couldn’t make it out, and I think the audience couldn’t either. Could be why it went flat.
"Have I ever lied to you before?" That was the punchline.
Never seen him bomb a show before
Karen Valentine....wow....I had a huge crush on her back in the day
RD & JC are gold
She is incredibly beautiful!
Happy 99th Birthday to Jack "Rodney Dangerfield" Roy
I blame the crowd. It was a morticians convention
The actress sitting next to Rodney is Karen Valentine, guys.
Yeah, I don't know her, either. She's still active in the business.

that audience was terrible. Rodney was the Legend...and Johnny too.
So, the fidgeting is all part of the act. GOAT.
"What a crowd, what a crowd. I tell ya I'm alright now but last week I was in rough shape ya know. You kidding me, nothing goes right for me ya know. I went to the track, they shot off the opening gun and killed my horse" 👌
Oh, that Henny Youngman.
I feel like here he didn't want to do too many jokes as he wanted to save them all for the Dean Martin gigs.
This is the first time I've seen Rodney at least partially out of character. Very cute.
Rodney appears to have just stopped by. He’s not in persona. He’s his real self in this clip right down to not wearing a tie. Only time I’ve ever seen him where he’s not that funny. The chemistry with Carson was almost always comedy gold.
Is this an audience or a mosaic?

Karen looked to be in awe of Rodney!
the 1 time Rodney Dangerfield kinda bombed
Karen Valentine was such a cutie
She was really enjoying and appreciative of Rodney's time visiting, like, here's Rodney just winging it!!!!!!!!
👌👌
California...not too many guys with tattoos
Boy have things changed
Rodney very New York
The audio and lighting on this clip are...off. Was this taped in a different studio?
Dr. Vinnie Boombotz!
White shirt, red tie

Help me out with the Hennie Youngman joke. I played it 3 times and couldn't get the punch line...
I had such a crush on Karen Valentine..😍😄
I forgot to mention about the tattoos. A guy has mother tattooed on one shoulder, and give it to your neighbor on the other. I couldn't have thought of that in a million years.

Actually, Carson’s quips were pretty good.
Room 222, right? What time should I be there?
She was in a show named 222, went right over their heads
The crowd didn't get the joke about stamps 🤣. Slow crowd
Is that Karen Valentine ?
No respect but he has mine
Everyone was in love with Karen Valentine.
Johnny found out its better to let Rodney be a comic at the desk and not interview him.
Anyone notice he barely ever greets the other guests when entering?
