The sync possibilities ist just opening a HUGE new world to perfectly timed transistions with lots of awesome effect to make creative transistions. Kissy here, did a lot of those transistions.
this gear has come soo far over the years.I stared using cdj's in 1995-96 (cdj 500 II's) and loved them! moved to the 800"s them the 900"s and a DDJ-T1. I loved my vinyl but i just could care around more tunes when i got the cdj's Thank you Pioneer for all you great gear!
people also need to realize that this is a promotional video for pioneer. Kissy needs to use that master syncing and quantizing to show off the functions of the CDJ-2000 nexus
I totally agree with you! This was just a post from Tocadiscos Facebook wall.. I just think he is so right.. people should stop crying about sync-buttons and all that stuff. Yeah it takes away a lot of work for the dj and yes i think also a big part from the main essence what a dj should be doing: DISC JOCKING! I am a DJ myself and I just use the tracks as they are. no looping, sampling and all that stuff and sometimes there are 3 tracks running nonstop for three or four minutes..
As much as some DJs hate that this player takes beatmatching skills out of the equation. This opens the door for more time to mix, loop, effects, having a drink and talking to that hot girl dancing near the stage.
GOOD- has a traffic light (green/red) to show mixing in key which about 90% of djs are absolutely clueless about. BAD- Seems to be an awful lot of $ to drop into decks that seem to be used more like a sampler/sequencer. For those still using cds (europe) this is what you will see dropping into the clubs. Learn it. Love it. That is how it is.
the art of dj s not dying it just has more creativity for dj it just the ppl that use the sync button if u use it right and have a good tune u can achieve good sound
Dont know why anyone is pissing on kissy sellout's flame.. he has to be one of THE most creative DJ's Out there.. that performance/any performance he does is out of this world.. the real DJ's will put the effort in.. the others (not calling them DJ's) will sit back and let the equipment do most of the work.
I think it allows you to sync two tracks and use one of the pitch sliders to control the pitch of both CDJs effectively allowing you to do some sick transitions etc!
Feck off with the sync button comments! Technology has evolved now and it's no longer about simply playing one record after another and pitching them in time. It's about taking music and performing with it. Sync doesn't make you a DJ neither does being able to perfectly beat match tracks. The real skill is reading a crowd and playing something that can surprise them, move them and maybe even educate then! Creating moments that will be remembered!
beat matching is not hard at all. it's a fundamental skill. think of beatmatching as the clutch pedal in a manual. it makes things more fun. and no one considers you a real driver unless you can do it.
NosillaWilla Beat matching is not hard at all and I agree that it is part of the basics, but sync can buy you time to do stuff that is more interesting for you as an artist and for the audience, than just beat matching and mixing 2 tracks together. Propper use of FX, live remixing, cue point juggling, whatever, there are crazy tools that allow you to get creative. I'm not very familiar with Kissy Sell Out and I don't particulary like this kind of sound, but the first time I heard his name is already a good while back and I think he probably knows how to beat match well enough. I can't understand the hate for sync if the dj is doing creative stuff that wasn't possible before. We don't snob airplains going "dude you fly with airplanes? you suck, zeppelin airships, that's how you originally fly". Djing is evolving as well, new technologies allow new techniques and that's not bad at all.
how is it the end of dj'ing, its your choice to use it and sometimes having a few extra seconds to do something crazy live that you otherwise couldnt due to being busy beatmatching, can come in handy.
This is an extremely impressive performance, but you will find when you do intense performances like this, there is no need for headphones as you arn't Cueing or beat-mixing or such, just thought I'd let you know!
very impressive since the new cdjs hav there sync can change bpm anytime and the other cdjs follow the master cdjs to watever bpm u change too its like a laptop program on the cdjs except now u dont need a laptop to have that feature its fukin amazing i cant wait to get my 2 pairs
un verdadero dj no es aquel que usa o no sync , si no el que demuestra q con buen ritmo y pocas o muchas piezas musicales puede armar un rompecabezas enorme :D
Tracklist: Gimme Sin - Kissy Sell Out ft. Saint Saviour You are Not The One - Kissy Sell Out ft. Queen of Hearts Moombah Car! - Kissy Sell Out Livewire - Kissy Sell Out ft. Jane Thomas
He definetly know how to beatmatch! In my opinion, it is okay to use sync, if you use it the right way. For basic transitions, you should do it manually, but in this video with so much stunts and tricks, it is okay.
on the other hand, when you go to a big party with a dj, do you spend your time watching the dj and judging him based on how difficult he makes it for himself, or do you judge it based on whether it was a good set that made people move
I never understood this kind of problem. Djing is not about know how to beatmatch. It's about chosing the good tunes, finding the right tracks after each other, mixing harmonies and feelings... (I play vinyl, and yes, I can beatmatch)
Because these guys (incl LBL) are proper DJ's who actually work hard when DJ'ing. Unlike a Guetta type who spends more time clapping the crowd than DJ'ing..

One of the best Pioneer and Puma commercial i ever seen !
The talent this lad has around a set of decks is unbelievable.
people also need to realize that this is a promotional video for pioneer. Kissy needs to use that master syncing and quantizing to show off the functions of the CDJ-2000 nexus

Mixing genres like that takes some skill. Love it!
one of the best insider comments i red for years ...
Best nexus demo. Period.

I agree, man! Sync Button just expands your possibilities as a DJ.
the art of dj s not dying it just has more creativity for dj it just the ppl that use the sync button if u use it right and have a good tune u can achieve good sound

Nexus is made to bring DJing into a next level

OH MY GOD, the best cdj ever, i think it will be impossible to be better
Did you change your mind or not?
Kissy is always a pleasure to watch :D Love the guy's mixing skills!
Don't get why everyone is hating sync. Beatmatching is just making things unnecessarily hard.

NosillaWilla well said
