A little known trivia about Metal Overlord is an unused line for Espio that indicates that he also copied the Shinobi Chameleon's invisibility, but was scrapped in the final version. I guess due to technical limitations of programming something as huge as Metal Overlord wasn't possible for the Xbox, Playstation 2, and Gamecube at that time or maybe time constraints.

I like how Metal Overlord has three attacks, one to be countered by each character type - the crystal waves can be negated by Sonic and the giant battleship by Knuckles, and the missiles can be avoided by changing altitude as Tails. Also, obligatory complaint about the music cutting out for the Team Blast, along with the lack of Super Tails and Super Knuckles.
I don't mind Super Tails and Super Knuckles being absent, but I agree with the music being muted by the team blast! I wish it didn't do that. Probably the only drawback I have with this final boss.
I wish they had a super model rather than just an aura around them. Also, I didn't know this, but Metal can also use Chaos Control. I think when I played this game I didn't know he could that bc I didn't know what chaos control was at the time
Metal Overlord Sonic was the toughest Final Boss to defeat in reality. Because unlike the bosses before and after he didn’t have a weak point anywhere on his body! Only team blast could injure him...

This boss is near impossible on the PS3 port of the Ps2 version. It’s almost impossible to grab the balloons on your way past them, like there’s an invisible wall preventing you from getting them. If you’re lucky you can get 3 team blasts before your defeated. Thankfully the team blast doesn’t stop the music in that version!

Tbh the Team Blast animation really kills the hype and pacing of the boss fight. Would it have been so hard to make it so it didn't do the animation seperately?

(Not aware if he says it but) Shadow: You won't be able to move when he casts Chaos Control! Turn the control stick/left analog stick/left thumb stick quickly to minimize the stop time! Rouge: Counter his spine attack with Thundershoot! Tails! You can do it! Omega: A teammate won't move if he is caught in the crystal, Knuckles, punch them out if needed. Amy: I think you can blast through his crystal attack using your speed! Sonic, you can do it! Cream: Everyone! Watch your ring count! You won't be able to use Super transformation if you lose all your rings! Big: I think you can collect rings with the balloons. Be careful about his attacks though! Espio: Team Sonic, build up your team blast meter with all the attacks you have! Show Metal Sonic evil doesn't have a place in this world! Charmy: You can destroy his crystal missiles with Thundershoot! Tails! Show him what you've got! Vector: We have to counter the battleships he throws with power! Knuckles! Show him your powerful punches ok? Don't hold back anything!
