Loads of people have been asking about the libraries I used for this piece, so I've added them to the description. While these tools work great for me, please remember that a good orchestral mockup isn't so much about the exact libraries you use - rather, it's all about playing to your existing libraries' strengths, and also about how well you know the orchestra as an ensemble. No shortcuts here, just years and years of learning and practice :)
Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by to listen. Be sure to check out the full piece - it's linked at the end of the video!
wtf thank you youtube algorithm
I just got recommended your work 10 minutes ago. Your ability to balance between different sample libraries is pretty darn good, and the mix is nice too. Keep going!
Hey thanks so much, I appreciate it :)
Goodness!! Dynamics beautifully executed!
@@azure_sapphire Thank you!
You’re so underrated! I will never regret finding you 🔥
Man, you're too kind haha
So close to 1k subs!
Top tier!! Btw Which audio interface do you use?
@@yahudirajan9313 Hey thanks! I just use a Scarlet 2i2 - super basic, but gets the job done haha :)
@@VIUSmusic That’s so cool man! I wish your dreams come true! Have a great day man ;)
@@yahudirajan9313 I appreciate that, thanks very much - and same to you too
@@VIUSmusic Do you have IG? We can talk about music! ✨
THIS IS TOO GOOD!
This is an absolutely beautiful arrangement, very John Williams, really stunning!!! It is, however, very smooth, therefore this video is bad ❤
@@theomnitorium7476 Ahahaha - you know what, fair enough
@@VIUSmusic in all seriousness, this is a really amazing piece of music. I hope to hear more :)
@@theomnitorium7476 That means a lot, thank you!
OMG, this sounds fantastic!
Commenting for engagement because this was insane
@@NitzanBueno Ahaha thanks heaps!
that's incredible, I got recommended and clicked expecting a lot more views given the quality of your work. I had to watch the others too.
That means a lot, thanks so much - and cheers for checking out my other stuff too!
That's really nice! What libraries are you using here?
@@danielmillardmusic Thank you! All libraries are listed in the video description of the full piece (linked on the end screen).
This was awesome. Subbed. Please do make tutorial content on this. Mixing, libraries and how you used them, composition, orchestration etc.
Haha, I've never been one for making tutorial videos where I'm talking - too self conscious lol. In terms of mixing, my workflow is actually very simple, and I tend to do it as I compose (which a lot of people will frown on, but hey it works). For orchestral stuff like this, I always just use the stock Logic EQ and reverb (Space Designer), and not much else. As for the libraries, they're listed in the description of the piece this snippet was taken from. I'll always maintain that it doesn't matter which libraries you use though, rather it's all about how well you know them (and also how well you know the orchestra as an ensemble!). I'm also a big advocate for playing everything into your DAW via a MIDI keyboard rather than drawing the notes and automation in. Make sure to constantly ride that modwheel too, especially for the brass! The orchestration more or less follows established practices - in other words, I always write as if I'm writing for live players.
But yeah, if you have questions about anything in particular, let me know!
great work, unleash the Brass.
Love me some epic brass lines 😎
Wow! Gorgeous work!! Which DAW are you using? I can’t recognize that piano roll
Hey, thanks! I'm on Logic Pro :)
@@VIUSmusic Sweet!! And by the way, do you have the concert score and if you do, how could I acquire it? I am interested on getting it for scholar study :)
I do have a score for a live version of the piece which'll be recorded in October, but it's still subject to changes and revisions so I'm not too comfortable sharing it just yet. There's also quite a few differences between what's on the score and what you hear here (mainly in the percussion, since they only had three players available for the recording sessions). Once it gets recorded though, and if no further revisions are needed, I might put it up on my Ko-fi or something :)
Gorgeous
This is craaazy good!!!
Give me all the brass!
Wow, you did an amazing job! What libraries do you use?
@@brandonechols Hey thanks so much! All the libraries used are listed in the description of the full piece (linked in this video's description).
beautiful!
Can you suggest a string library that sounds like vintage orchestra from 80s, listen to a song called "what a wonderful thing to do by joey pecoraro"
I feel like you can pull that effect off with any string library in your arsenal - that "vintage" feel you're after mainly comes from the harmonies, and probably a little bit of processing as well. Perhaps you could even run them through a plugin like iZotope Vinyl - I've done that a bunch of times on projects over the years. (That's a free plugin btw!)
@@VIUSmusic Can you suggest a video that explains about harmony that you're talking about
zesty ahh low brass :D
Gorgeous!!
Can I ask you what program u used for the scores sheets without the classical white background?
Thank you! For the score, all of it was already engraved on Dorico, so I just screen-recorded the Dorico file, cropped out the bits I didn't need, and then inverted the colours on my video editing program (Davinci Resolve).
@@VIUSmusic Thank u so much🙏 Beautiful editing, really
@@floriscomposer Cheers, I appreciate it

What libraries bro?
They're in the description of the full piece :)
VIUS makes the best transitions, all other composers have inferior transitions
Ok but the ones in Typhoon were pretty baller though
@@VIUSmusic the best wind, is roundy-roundy wind
Very quiet in the middle
