Napakalawak ng martial arts, eto ang isa naging comment tungkol sa kali na pamamaraan ng self defense. "The word 'kali' which Placido Yambao (1957) mentioned in his old book was erroneously quoted. Thus, Remy Presas coined the word 'kali' for Filipino martial arts and had been started to be disseminated in years earlier than the present. I am happy that Filipino martial arts are being recognized in the Philippines and abroad. However, it would be foolish to call them all 'kali'. There are many indigenous martial arts in the Philippines that have nothing to do with Remy Presas brand of martial art. Remy Presas was a former great master of eclectic martial arts that include karate, judo, ethnic Filipino fighting art, etc. He formed the modern style of arnis. But what is strange is he based some forms of foot stances and limb movements similar to his eclectic knowledge of martial arts that include karate. He extended these forms to bladed weapons. He recommended his own style of arnis to the Philippine government during that period. Thus, his style of arnis was propagated in the physical education of youth at schools. Although he was teaching his arts in modern times he claimed and propagated the teaching that all Filipino traditional martial arts are called kali which by the way is a misnomer."
