I have contamination OCD. My daughter is sick and as much as I try to tolerate the uncomfortable feelings my compulsions are winning. I am supposed to have my first ERP session on Friday with my therapist through NOCD. How do I ease the anxiety. My anxiety is at a 10. I can’t eat or sleep.

Hello, i keep getting strong negative emotions that imply depression which causes panic... what do i do with this? Acceptance is SO hard and ocd is so convincing and it tells me i am suicidal which makes me panic so !

Chloe, I usually never leave any comments, but I just couldn’t ignore yours. I went through exactly the same OCD theme and it was horrible and devastating. I would say I am 95% recovered now and my life has never been better. I just would like to give you some words of hope and encourage you to do ERP. The best thing that helped me was to work on rumination. Remember that ANY thought conserving your topic is a compulsion. If you analyze, try to reassure yourself or even direct your attention towards this topic - you doing a compulsion. When I was starting to work on my OCD recovery I would tell myself, “no matter how hard it is, this thought or feeling represents my OCD theme, so I am moving on”. Really try to be consistent with your replies as you are teaching your brain a new way of thinking about your triggering thoughts. I hope this helps. keep fighting and you WILL win
