I got back to poe for the 3rd time in last ~10 years (diablo4 left me wanting). Im doing maxroll cold dot build. I find it really hard to gear up and even harder to craft. Even after watching hours of videos about poe every time i get back. I would really love some series in craft of exile, showing how to craft some of the endgame-ish gear step by step (per build). There are some videos here and there, some of them outdated etc. But nothing comprehensive for good league starters. I really dislike the need to buy all gear when not investing 600 hours into the game and other 600 hours into youtube/twitch :) Anyway, thanks for quality content!
I agree with your assessment. I started cold dot myself and had a very smooth league start. As a noob, the slowing effect makes things very safe and I was able to get the eater and exarch done myself on the first try (first time btw…). Thanks for the vid
Thank you for the guide. I got a Steam Deck recently, so my ideal number of buttons is four, including the dash and a max of four auras to activate once.
Cold dot is much more manageable if you can put a few abilities on arcaniat brand, like frost bomb and elemental weakness (and frostbite if you dont have it on ring)
Excellent guide. I will need to save up for that stormshroud. Is there a PoB for this? I saw the link to the character profile, but I found at least one difference between it and what's in the video, so I'm worried it's not the same. (cast when stunned vs cast when damage taken)
hi man i appreciate your work! i visited your profile to copy your cold dot build can u upload your pob? how did you alloted bloodnotch jewel on top part? thanks man
How do you apply exposure? I feel like my mastermind of discord is not activating and most of the time it feels like resistances are increased instead of lowered against rares or bosses
You have to cap your suppression very early. That and good flasks for armor. Also you have to be ailment immune to atleast elemental ailments. But also try to get immunity to bleed, poison and corrupted blood
For crafting the gloves, you say you "blocked something" then unveil to get +2 to socketed AOE gems. Does it matter what you craft and block? Does crafting a certain thing increase the chance of getting the AOE unveil? I"m new to crafting and tried looking on poedb but I'm not sure I understand. I figured blocking phys conversion would remove that from the unveil pool and make it more likely I would get the AOE gems, but is that wrong and should I be blocking something else? I've done the unveil 3 times now and not gotten it and just want to make sure I'm not making a stupid mistake.
Blocking removes all modifiers from the mod group. So for glove prefixes the total weight is 19,000 but 4,000 are drop only mods. Phys conversion is the correct block removing another 2000 weighting meaning 1,500/13,000 for success. Blocking anything at all which shares a mod group with the "Chosen" mods increases the odds, phys conversion is ideal because it has the highest weighting. IIRC it's 3-4 attempts on average to land +2 gems. (I'm bad at the math side of things). TL:DR - you're doing it right but it can be painfully random sometimes.
Lol.... I found an eye of malice while mapping on my lightning arrow and then vendored it literally because I thought it was crap because it "buffed" enemy resistance... Ugh 😂
It's because your cruelty effect is proportional to how hard you hit the boss, up to 40% more damage and so as an example if I hit trash mobs in my map I got 40%, but if I hit a pinnacle boss I got 26% more damage.
Cold dot has been around for ages yet ive never tried it, one day ill bite the bullet! Now that ive transitionned to console dont know how thatd feel with this many button 😅
Hi man I watch your videos at street on my cell phone usually. Maybe if you put some numbers at screen like build cost, dps, etc.. would make it a better guide. Thx and just keep up the good work man.
dps numbers don't matter to builds, and costs change constantly so I can't really talk about them in detail. If I say something is 3 div, then a year later it's 30 people get mad :(
@@Tenkiei you don't have to give specific numbers, but it a rough idea of cheap/average/expensive would be helpful - a fair amount of the gear in this build is definitely expensive - it's a good place to evolve to after using TripolarBear's starter build
I'm currently leveling w/ maxroll's version of this build; it's slow going considering I only have about an hour a day to play and I'm not a speedrunner. One thing that got my attention is I came across a bitterdream while leveling, and it seems to really boost the damage of whatever I put in it. I'm currently using it with vortex, but I was wondering a) would you recommend one of the other cold skills instead, and b) is there anything I'm not seeing that would make bitterdream a bad choice for this build, at least in the short term? Mana problems are solved with eldrich battery, and before that I temporarily used clarity/arrogance with the life mastery that shifted 30% of mana costs to life instead. Thoughts? Any input would be appreciated.
To start with your questions; 1) I'd use Vortex. 2) No it's not a bad choice in the short term. Bitterdream isn't an item I personally came across while leveling but it does add a lot of damage making it an excellent choice early on.

If you are still running acts, look into Lailloken UI and load the cold dot leveling guide into the ingame campaing helper poe overlay. Getting to act10 was super smooth and fast for me. I actually finished the campaing for the first time i think :) I always burned out in white maps before reaching last act.
@@Tenkiei Question: did Wintertide Brand get nerfed in the last few patches and I missed it? I remember a similar build using WT from ShakCentral and honestly the clear felt better, especially in delve. He's not using it anymore either, so what'd I miss?
Need to make their resistances negative, apply both curses and use exposure. If their resistances are still positive they are increased reducing your damage.
U using both grace and determination eventually also consider purity of elements instead of determination early on for easy all res and aliments immune
New player - Is it just me that has all nodes on the skill tree using Tripolar's guide yet I can NOT run Det, Grace & Male all at once? How the hell do I do it anyone?
Same, new player used macroll cold ele guide. I’m SSF and can’t run all the auras and I have 3 voidstones and atlas complete. I have no idea tho, I run determination hatred male and defiance banner with molten shield on left click and I have like ~50 mana left over. Even with enlighten on my auras I can’t run grace so I just use an evasion flask. I feel kinda squishy but as my first character I don’t have anything to compare it to. I’ve been able to kill everything so far tho I doubt I could do Ubers. Maven was really tough. I don’t know much crafting so my gear kinda sus. I dual wield wands cause I can’t find a good shield and sceptre
I personally think the max roll guide isnt very good . Ypu can get a diadem, or small clusters with mana reservation efficiency to help allieviate some of the mana . Also make sure your using eldritch battery. The last aura can be linked to divine blessing so it is flat cost versus reserved .
Assuming you have block + suppress cap (plus the other defenses I outlined in the video) you should be quite tanky for everything outside of really bad map mods like -max. But if you want more defenses/recovery go for the optional Bloodnotch setup I outlined. I can more or less afk next to T16 essences.

That's why I'm using Frostbite on a ring, dropping frost bomb entirely for the glove prefix, and using Vortex on left click.
Excellent guide. I will need to save up for that stormshroud.

Hey mate, trying to get the POB for this, joined the Discord but it says that I don't have access to that channel - any idea why this is?
How do you apply exposure? I feel like my mastermind of discord is not activating and most of the time it feels like resistances are increased instead of lowered against rares or bosses
bonjour vous pouvez donner le pob actuel avec le tattoo utilisé ? plz
Press 4 buttons "+2 items/flasks" would be optimal for confort vs difficulty
Playing this as SSF and I find the survivability is very difficult in red maps.
How'd you solve it? Probably running into the same issue soon 😅
You have to cap your suppression very early. That and good flasks for armor. Also you have to be ailment immune to atleast elemental ailments. But also try to get immunity to bleed, poison and corrupted blood
I'm breezing through red maps with this build. Fix your supression and your damage everything melts
I league started with LA and made cold Dot my second character. Cold Dot is way better since vengeant cascade was removed from ranger tree
@@IXxhpnotiqxXI how do I fix suppression without spending 200+ C on pieces with 12% rolls? 😥 kinda need the suppression to make the fat stacks yo

Frigid bond should also stack with these right? Been tempted to try something with that one.

One more ? plz is whispering Doom worth it for the extra curse ?
absolutely. you need both curses to get resistances below zero
random question, what is better overall jack of all trades build, this or a toxic rain ballista pathfinder?
Cold Dot. TR fell off hard
As a new player can I run this at level 50? I’m struggling with this build on act V
I currently run (3) cruelty gems atm you mentioned it drops off for bossing, is the because of the 4 second duration?
It's because your cruelty effect is proportional to how hard you hit the boss, up to 40% more damage and so as an example if I hit trash mobs in my map I got 40%, but if I hit a pinnacle boss I got 26% more damage.

My league start is TS on thunderfist link with volatility, and a 5 link mana forge set up. Got it running on day 2 with 3m per arrow. It’s amazing
Could you provide a pob? I love ts and this cold dot build ruined my league.
@@horia1186 for league start, I would switch the thunderfist to the adrenaline glove since it’s quite expensive on day 2.
