I got this amp last year and have not been disappointed. Primarily use it on a 212 w greenbacks which 8 ohm cab and this amp will get loud over 100db. The amp will play very clean to can work as pedal platform. On my 16ohm 412 vintAge 30’s won’t get as loud and will breakup like on Johns demo. For $63 you can front it with a low cost Mooer preamp or just run your pedals. Very cool set up.
Sounds great John, thanks for the cool demo!
Excellent tones! Plenty of fun watching this review with John.
Sounds nice and warm....lots of dynamics and overtones.
Sister Rosetta on the wall!
Didn't it rain?
I just noticed that, beat me to it!
Sounds pretty damn good! Great job John! 👍
02:42 Had you been on the ol' Tennessee whiskey when you throw that pedal board together, John!? lol
🤣
Finally! a PEDAL BOARD MORE JUMBLED THAN MINE! This is one groovy little amp. Need one to play my Firebirds through. Love your pedal steel tones!
John is such a great player
Sounds remarkable!
Pedal board put together by a drunk blind man😆
Damn that sounds pretty good!!!
::immediately adds "dime this pig" and "shizz and gizz" to my every day vocabulary::
Great video I have seen you in different vedios your one of the most happiest person and you enjoy what your doing and it helps with my decisions on picking out gear you have a positive presentation...Thank you...Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico usa..
Love the b-bender, the amp(pedal) is great.....sittin at home working out songs without the cops at your door, always a plus.
Great demo!
Purchased one after your video LOL
I use the magnum44 (40 watt version of this) for lots of live shows where I need to pack lite. Thing sounds great for what it is and with the right pedals in front it amazes sound guys, haha.
I was tempted to get one for my Kemper Stage.
@@sgmarshall3 I'd recommend trying it out.
Im selling my Ora ge tube head. Beause i sadly need the money but this pedal seems to be awesome can it do metal?? The 44mm i mean
When you say: you need the right pedal, you mean = you need a preamp pedal? Before EHX Magnum44.
@@noiseorsignal i would say yes you do. I own a 44 and im considering the 5mm because im wanting something w/less headroom
Great Color Guitar Brother What!
Can see you were paying attention to that octave up feedback tip :)
I came here just for John's playing. Well done!
There’s nothing there! What playing?
Love some JB riffs on a Monday afternoon!!!!......much love n respect brother!!!....this pedal sounds legit!!!!.....I'm getn one asap!!!... sounded excellent with humbuckers especially when u pushed it!!!......blows my mind it's $63 !!!! Crazy !!!
5mm thru a 1X10 cabinet is bliss. Lite weight pedal platform.
You're right! And I've plugged it into 4x10's and it still slays.
#BringBackTheDrumMachine
Nice demo it was clipping a little heavy at times which can be adjusted. I guess it comes under micro amps? I see more this size might be going on in the future using a computer with software front end to the amp to give you the same futures as full service amps including pedal effects. Could be fun, how about demo the Spark amp with its software? Thanks
Rockin the b bender eh
A HAN Telecaster? DOES it SOLO?
OMG, you beat me to it, four years ago. 😂
@@Da_Publick I'm just that FAR ahead! ;o)
Now that is a real demo! Great playing!... It's clear for me that the toy actually works, dynamics and everything. Thank you.
On the other hand, what the hell is going on in that pedalboard! HAHAHAHAHAHA
A Ross compressor I haven’t seen one of those since I owned a music store in the 80’s
Did he really get feedback off that unit at 6:30?! Nice
You do a great show.RocknRollflat5
Sounds kinda like the Tweed of the solid state amps
re: 5 mm. I just noticed that there is a target on the unit, so I think "MM" is millimeter, as an analogy to fire-arms... that is, a 5mm caliber unit
It has a 5mm led
Yep, discontinued 22 Caliber & currently available 44 Magnum. Surprised they didn't have a 9/10MM or 30-06 or 38 Special for the progression of Bullet sizes & amp output.
That booger green tele could make anything sound good! Killer little rig!
Caterina Carlone
Aloha Cat!
Caterina Carlone
No way!
Caterina Carlone I always wanted to meet a real Italian woman with long black hair!
Caterina Carlone pen pals?
Caterina Carlone what kind of guitars do you play?
sounds beefy JB you finally did a demo with less gab and more demoing
A no brainer for $63 clams!!! Sold.
to me that sounds really great.. get a 2x12 and basically that's your rig.
Yo John ...Does it come with a B bender ? 😎🎸
I wonder how it would sound if I hooked up my ipad running bias fx. I bet it would sound pretty nice if I turned off the cabinet simulations and connect the power amp pedal to a regular speaker cabinet.
Got that Bill Kirchen reverse control setup on his Tele. Never knew this dude could play.
this is cool John , can I use it for bass
Yes you can. Just use bass speakers
@@Lorak669 cool thanks
Very clever unit at a "what did he say?" price ... I'm increasingly drawn to minimalist design for units like this
Sounds great but to be fair, I think John could make even the cheapest of gear sound good.
How do these work with an acoustic electric ? How does this one stack up to VHT's Micro 6 ? I would think the cleanest of settings with say an Ovation or Applause might even be more usable than with a Squier Bullet or other value level electric guitar ? The 5mm is misleading for this being actually 2.5 Watts of Solid State amp, as EHX discontinued it's 22 Caliber, but has a 44 Magnum product that really gets better wattages for output volume. The VHT Micro 6 is supposedly 6 Watts, but who really knows what the specs are ? Is that the 8 or 16 Ohm cabinet ? This has the 9V 500mA power supply labeling, maybe it would handle a 12V 1000mA power supply and be a little more drivable for power & volume output ? But for sure, too much juice (18-24V) and it's gotta run warmer/hotter and perhaps fry the pcb and circuitry ? The VHT Micro 6 indicates a 9V, but the owners manual indicates it'll handle as much as a 12V power supply.
with this pedal is enough to power a 1x12 speaker in a jam session?
Does an amp attenuator work after as well? To give a little more control on volume?
I'm interested too. Anyone know?
Nah, SS is fine. Lab series amps are awesome!
2:38 Lol
whats happening with the strap button? is it some kind of wierd tremolo implemetation?
It's a b bender, an entire machanism built into the guitar that bends the b string. That's why the bridge looks a lil weird too
@@thelessonroom949 Thanks for info!
this would be great with a 12AX7 in there!
So, could you use this as a clean power amp to run a modeler (like HX Stomp) into?
Yep, they also make a more powerful version called the 44 magnum. I used it to drive a preamp to a cab.
I just bought it im going to try it out, just for home use..i saw reviews that say it cleans up at 9 oclock. Should be fine with hx stomps ability to increase level output dbs. If its not enough with the volume..
MM = Mike Matthews?
Meeta meeta
2.5 watts is an interesting, but odd choice... I mean, you could just buy an Orange Crush 3W mini amp and use it's speaker out.
If i bought gear based solely on John's demos I'd be broke. Wait...
You know...
And to think I saw you as just a pretty boy.. i must apologize sir
I despise the reverse Tele control panel.
Matitayahu Cohen ...Well then you might just have to break out a soldering iron ..😎🎸
Good to know.
The guy needed to reherse his sales pitch.. he doesn't know how to present it..
Also why wouldn't I buy the 22?
And yes it's very obvious a preamp shouold come before it.
Idan Shahar sales pitch?
He's not selling, he's doing a demo.
