I can see how these types of relationships can flourish because they all have the same life experiences to talk about and compare notes with. They are all famous. The common person cannot relate to these people who are in the public eye therefore it would be harder to strike up a friendship with them. Of course we all love them from afar and only wish them happiness and good health. Side note: I wish their companies would let the idols intermingle and create some music together. lmfao! I JUST came from that GQ video, like quite literally this is the first video I clicked afterward! I heard her talk about this, but of course didn't understand it. I was just about to look more into it but decided to check my subscriptions first and BAM, minaribear has the scoop! Thank you for that!
I knew that Jihyo was friends with Lisa for a while, but the Minnie connection was a mystery. I just thought TWICE and (G)I-DLE's recent love affair started with Sana and Miyeon becoming BFFs last year, but apparently not. I knew that Jihyo had been a fan of (G)I-DLE music, going back as far as LATATA, but I didn't think she was already friends with Minnie before MiyeonXSana. Mina was also a mystery until now. I remember thinking it random seeing those images of the four together in goofy hats, wondering if Jihyo forced Mina out of her room that day, lol. BUT now that I think about it, Mina was one of members who went to (G)I-DLE's Seoul concert earlier this year (along with the usual suspects - Lisa, Sana, and Tzuyu) and back then I thought "Huh, Mina went too?" SO now it's all falling into place.
Now you know what we need, right? A power collaboration. I know it's complete fantasy, given they are all from different companies (and YG pretends everyone else doesn't exist), but just think about a combo with BLACKPINK, TWICE, and (G)I-DLE! Even if it was just the four shown here, it would be amazing. Jihyo has the power vocals, Minnie with her dreamy unique voice, Lisa with her rap and dancing skills, Mina with her smooth voice and dance. Shoot, they could debut as a subunit today, especially if Soyeon penned another hit for them! Speaking of Soyeon, now I'm thinking of other power combos like Soyeon, Lisa, Chaeyoung as the rap line to end all rap lines. Or what about Rosé, Nayeon, and Miyeon? Ohhh man! Put Jeanie, Dahyun, and Yuqi's chaotic energy and hip-hop flare together! Oh... what about the visual line? Jisoo, Shuhua, and Tzuyu. >.
How come it's a totally different thing when it's artists from both female and male groups that hang out together and are friends? I noticed that just artists from female groups, like this example shown here, don't have it as bad as the male groups.
And yeah it totally breaks my heart when the groups themselves are friends but not the fan bases. I honestly wouldn't know what to do if somebody who only supports one group and hates every other group tries to be my friend.

I often hear the "age and friends" on Koreans, so if you are same age and born in same year too, you two will be automatically "friends"? Is this some kind of Korean belief? I usually hear them saying "you're 1996? So we're friends", I'm just curious.
You should use honorifics and respectful name(like unnie) for those who were born a year earlier. To put it to the extreme, even if a person was born on December 31, 1996 and I was born on January 1, 1997, that person would be respected.
However, people born in the same year can speak informally to each other and stay comfortable. They can be 'friends' so much easily.
Of course, you can still be friends with someone older, but it feels different from becoming friends with same age.

Bc I’ve heard idols talk about being friends with those born in the year before them rather than those later in their own birth year because they’d be in the same school year as the ones older. I remember on produce 101, two girls were introducing themselves and were born in the same year but one of them said to call her unnie because she was friends with those from the previous year😭
@@aqsah14 There's a lot to explain to understand that much detail. Korea's unique age system, Korean school system, etc. Let me explain as briefly as I can. Since schools in Korea start in March, people born in January and February often choose to go to school early. People born in January to December 1993 have to attend the same grade, but the situation becomes complicated when people born in January and February 1994 enroll in schools that start in March.
In Korea, it is called '빠른(early),' and these people naturally make friends with people who are older than them, because they enter school at the same time even though they are one year late in their birth year. Those born in January 1994 become friends with those born in 1993 and receive honorifics from other 1994. Or some people choose to be friends with both those born in 1993 and 1994. This complex system is often confusing to Korean too. It varies from person to person, from situation to situation.

It’s really interesting, honorifics aside it’s kinda similar to the west too ( at least then UK where I’m from), school starts in September so anyone born from there onwards is in the same year, E.g. September 1997-August 1998 would all be in the same school year and considered the “same age”
