Thank you so much! Your video was so helpful with where the hot spots are because I plan on visiting Austin hopefully one day soon. Rainey Street looks pretty cool 👍🏾
OMG...I was a student at "UT"; but, I was in a car accident that ended my time there. THIS vid was a WONDERFUL trip for me; one that was " full of memories"! (I nearly died from injuries from the accident: I was comatose for 2 1/2 months, and had complete rehabilitation as an inpatient at The Methodist Hospital. (PHEW! THAT WAS HARD WORK, but...I HAD incredible help: Drs & therapists.) THIS walk is SO magical!! I EILL return!! 😳😁😁❤👣
OMG I thought we had a lot of those ride scooters here in DC.... Y'all are PLAGUED, they should really set a limit on how many can be out at a time. :( How do you guys feel about them? Also compared to DC people walk waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy slower in Austin, it was kind of giving me anxiety how many people just... stop in the middle of the sidewalk. If you do that here you will get run over by business people in a hurry to go somewhere or tourists trying to visit the monuments xD But wow, I really want to visit this place!!! It has so much charm! Thanks for the video!
It's interesting to get a feel of the city watching these videos. Austin, college/music town and it shows. Lots of bars, lol, music in the air, young people. I've seen videos of areas of Georgia. The populace in general looks very conservative, if you had a tattoo, I think they might throw you out of town. New Orleans, it's own planet, can't compare.... San Antonio, looks nice, but a bit conservative as well? Marietta, GA looks progressive, but looks pretty straight laced as well. Hard to tell from afar.
The Colrado River in Austin is a Texas river several hundred miles long from north central part of West Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. It's not the same Colorado River that goes thru the Grand Canyon. It's about a 45 to 50 minute drive from I-35 and Slaughter Lane in South Austin to I-35 and 1604 on the northside of San Antonio, as long the traffic is moving. Very nice video.
I didnt expect to see how filthy the sidewalks are in Austin. Caked on black stuff with thousands of gum and spilled sticky liquid with sprinkles of bums. Reminds me of where I work here in LA. Your San Antonio video on the other hand was super clean at least where the river walk was. I was also surprised to see how clean Houston was.
Hey this is an awesome video! I want to let you know that somebody stole your footage and using it without giving you credit. The channels name is Must Do Travels. I have reported them to help out. Awesome and very helpful video you have done!
It's not THE Colorado River that starts in the Rockies and goes through the Grand Canyon down to Vegas into Lake Meade and Hoover Dam finally ending in Mexico,.... it's actually the Lower Colorado River that begins in the Texas panhandle, flows south through the Texas Hill country into several man-made lakes and dams built by the Army Core of Engineers in the 40s & 50s to control devasting floods downstream in Austin and further south. Lake Travis, the largest of the lakes at big Mansfield Dam is just outside Austin, then smaller dams at Lake Austin, Lady Bird Lake in downtown before continuing flowing uninterrupted into the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes without seeing a map of Colorado & Texas, it is easy to make that mistake, especially for foreign visitors. Funny, but when I first moved to Texas, I met a Texan who insisted this was THE Colorado River and claimed it had its origins in southern Colorado. I kid you not. Also this person was a proud Texan who had never really travelled anywhere outside of the state. 😆 So anyway, it's the Lower Colorado River managed by the LCRA (Lower Colorado River Authority). Great video by the way. Cheers.
originally from Algeria and i live in north Austin one year ago and i like it so much , i found people very friendly nice neighborhood , but the worst thing that i didnt like is the weather is too hot humidity , and i didnt like the downtown too its crowded
Nice video. However, Barton Spings is not "the river" or "a river". Barton Creek runs through where there are underground springs, which was/is a natural swimming hole, and was made into a natural swimming. Barton Creek, with the water from the springs that are fed by Edwards Aquifer, run into Colorado River. Edwards Aquifer runs underneath most of West Austin, supplying Austin with a lot of our drinking water, and supplies water to the Colorado River.
Is Austin more hoppin’ than San Diego? Im thinking of moving there but am afraid ill miss beach too much but figure it may be a good trade for lots of activity and socializing and maybe the parks with water make up for beach? I dunno...
Do you think the beach would be missed living in Austin? Also your videos deserve wayyyy more views, i think youre getting blacklisted because your quality is way better than most travel videos
Hi. I live in San Diego. I've been to Austin a few times. It's hoppin' and poppin, but San Diego is definitely more so. Downtown Austin, compared to Downtown SD (Gaslamp) is a different vibe. The music scene is different & the people are different too. Every time we visit Texas, I feel that the people are really friendly. Lots of homeless, similar to San Diego. I hear there's lots of CA peeps in Austin, although lots of locals and Texans generally hate on CA because of politics etc. I think you will miss the beach, if you're living that CA beach lifestyle. There are multiple lakes and swimming areas in Austin tho. Still beautiful, but of course, not the beach. Lots of good eats in Austin, but still not as much as SD. I really like that there's an INNO, so that'll help us not miss home too much, if we decide to move. I regret not visiting The Domain. It reminds me a bit of Fashion Valley or a UTC. YOLO. We can always move, try it out and move elsewhere or back if we really don't like it. Good luck on your new adventures.
I live in TX, particular Austin, most of my life. It's used to be a great place to retire in the 80s and 90s. Now, it's not because of people from CA, NY and the rest of US coming here. They raise the price of houses up. Property taxes and property value has nearly double and triple. We are experiencing tent city like CA, Seattle and Hawaii. It's pretty sad. It's a peaceful city. Lots of great music festival with great food from all over the world come here. Also the Bike rally come here too. There are Hamilton pool which is natural made fresh water. To the south is San Antonio with the River walk ( 1.5- 2 hour drive). Ok, the bad. The I35 traffic highway is congested and a heavy traffic nightmare most of the day especially close to downtown Austin. The highway is built for the 1950s era. Then they build ramps later on to reduce traffic in the 70-80s. Now, they can't expand on that because there are no available space to expand. From Round rock to the tip of South Austin is congested with vehicles. Don't even try to speed over 60 when getting close to downtown Austin. They did make Mopac (Loop1) and the toll way to reduce the I35 traffic but it's still the same scenario. The good. TX is almost recession proof and thriving. 2008 Great recession does little affect in TX because of level of job opportunities and low taxes. I do hope you guys visit and stay but leave the rest of political ideas back where it come from. Don't spread what it doesn't help where you from and bring it here.
Jeff, you are leaving out one thing...TRAFFIC. Yep, that’s right..You like sitting in traffic going in and out work for hours during rush hour this is your place to live...
Thousands of college students Ride their scooters without regulations on top of tourists on the sideWALKS! Very dangerous with drunken studens yelling and cussing at tourist who are just walking,
It's different depending on what side you're on. Where I am from ( South East texas), Because we are all from Louisiana it takes on more of our culture now Central texas !!! babyyyy that texas lol!! Its beautiful !!
it depends which city you are in i would say the most interesting cities are Austin and San Antonio, what they have in common are a young university educated population with a blend of U.S American & Texan culture with a touch of Mexican culture and color, these cities are full of life, friendly with open minds. Houston and Dallas are very industrial and business oriented really powerful cities these are basically like your cookie cutter or copy paste U.S American big cities, good to live in.
I live in Korea now, but I really miss my hometown Austin.
How did you end up there?

The Colorado that runs through Austin is not the same as the one that goes through CO/AZ/CA. Great video though. Do you have a favorite part of TX?
At night tho the city glows with bright colors and the city has art in some areas!!
