I use Gate Mode all the time to give Loops a different Rhythmic Feel, but this takes it to a whole new level! Thanks for this, Fizz! You always deliver on useful content for Maschine.
Fizz what’s good, I’ve watched your how to connect a summing mixer to an interface and I’m still having trouble with my setup. I have an Apollo twin, a phoenix audio nicerizer jr summing mixer and an ap audio re’an patchbay. I have the db25 input cable with 8trs going into the inputs of the patchbay. The audio is coming through the patch bay via speakers. The outs from the Apollo to the output of the patchbay and the speakers are right above in the inputs. I have xlr to trs output from the summing mixer to the inputs on the back of the apollo. I’m having a problem getting the audio to the summing mixer. Any idea or solutions would be a great service and really appreciated.
Hi, The question i have is what audio signals are you trying to sum? In other words, you stated the problem that you are having, is getting audio into the summing mixer. Typically summing mixer are used to sum outside “the box” meaning protools, logic, studio one and other digital audio workstation. That means your audio signal within side of, lets say Pro-Tools, would be sent out individually or based on groups i.e (drum bus) into the summing mixer. Once the audio is summed in the analog domain the audio then has to be returned into your computer via your audio interface, in which your case is the Apollo Twin. That brings me to one of the issues being your audio interface not having enough outputs to send audio to the summing mixer. The Apollo Twin is equipped with 4 analog outputs. 2 of those outputs should be used by your speaker monitors, which leaves you with only 2 outputs. Most pro studios have the monitors connected to the patch-bay, in your case its not necessary. The Phoenix Audio Nicerizer Summing Mixer is capable of summing 16 channels. So that takes me back to my original question of what signals are you trying to sum ? Based on your answer i could provide better solutions. For example, your goal might be to send 16 tracks out of your computer into the summing mixer, in that case i’d recommend looking into an audio interface that is cable of the16 analog outs that can be sent to your summing mixer. Hopefully this has provided a bit more clarity.
@@FizzENT As always a great explanation. I want to send 8/16 channels out from abelton to the mixer and back into abelton. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need more outputs, just as you suggested. I have a focusrite Safire pro 40 (FireWire)and I was running my outboard effects and synths through there until the thunderbolt adapter stopped working. I have to purchase one offline because Apple doesn’t make the FireWire to thunderbolt adapters anymore. I was hoping that the Apollo and a patchbay would be a work around. How would I set things up with the Safire pro 40? Before I bought the patch bay and summing mixer, I was pretty much maxed out. I have a moog matriarch, virus ti2 running through usb, tascam portastudio, Zulu tape emulator, and a UA 710 twin finity preamp. All of which were running into the interface. How can I use this setup with the patchbay and mixer? Would I have to unplug a few things just to use the summing mixer or would the patch bay help with connecting everything?
@@therealk-tone214 If you have lots of gear and outboard effects, i’d recommend connecting everything to the patch-bay. This will help your studio be more flexible and configurable. Typically outputs are on top and inputs are on the bottom.

Gate mode is great, only problem is you can't change the order of the chops.
👍
Thank you sir

Why use the computer wirh the standalone?
I'm using controller mode. That way you can see everything happening on the computer screen as well.
First here !
