Correction - at 1:40 I say ‘fifth finger’ but I mean third finger. I was thinking about 5th fret!

Another correction - at 6:30 I say ‘B section’ when I really meant to say second part of the A section

I just want to say thank you Robin!
I saw you guys play at JamJar bristol this year! and since then I have bought a mandolin and feel incredabily inspired to learn. Your playing has been a huge part of that desire. So learning directly from you on here means so much to me. I am practicing part one. and will get part 2 of you shortly. Thank you and keep being awesome!

Love this idea of you doing the UA-cam lessons Robin. Very accessible and a lovely style of breaking it down. It’s inspiring me to definitely think about dusting my mandolin down and having another go once I have a little practice space in my life again 👍

Gotta be careful calling it a hornpipe, because then English folk musicians will probably want to swing it!

Do you think it's right to call it a Hornpipe? Or am I wrong with that?

@@robinjonesmusic For me, a hornpipe would normally have a one beat anacrusis at the start, and would end each section with a plain bar that has three crotchets on 1,2,3, or a minim and a crotchet. So the anacrusis leads in again after the last bar. See, e.g. Manchester Hornpipe or Iron Legs Hornpipe. Not necessarily swung. But this is probably a very regional thing.
