Having fire arrows still exist in the game is the real crime. So putting a flammable liquid on a torch and making it burn longer doesn’t make sense, but fire arrows that would get put out by the mere act of shooting them from the bow make sense? Wait... What?
Okay...they removed the booze upgrade because crafting it made burn times longer and it didn't make sense to them. Umm, adding a fuel (Booze) to something you are going to burn would absolutely make it burn longer/brighter/hotter. How does that not make sense? I'm sorry, but I'm calling that removal lame and unnecessary.

I'm so disappointed where this game stopped. If the devs have no more plans, they need to open up full legitimate modding. Let the gamers continue the game.
The game had a full release. So, they aren't obligated to update it. Sure, it would be nice, but something like The Forest 2 might be even better. They've moved onto a new project, which I for sure am excited to see.

The sanity system should of had your character act more like a cannibal Examples: 0% sanity the player would run on all fours when sprinting, you wouldnt get sick from eating cannibals and the player wouldnt make disgusted noises, the player randomly screeches and alerts nearby cannibals as they do to you, the player would sometimes hear whispers behind him Anyone think these sound cool?

I highly recommend the "log catcher" mod. I play without any mods, but this one was crucial. You can place log storage around the end of the zipline and it automatically adds them to the storage units. Really useful.
I love that I've found your channel and a backlog of all of these great informative videos on this game! Unfortunately it looks like I've gotten into it at the very back end of its development cycle. From my understanding, updates have slowed down and it seems there are not going to be many more, if any, substantial content updates. I think Endnight has a great game here that is truly worthy of being proud of, but unless they are secretly working on a sequel, I think there is still a lot of untapped potential in The Forest!
Why not just make it so it could still have the damage+ then but didn't last as long as normal. Or you have to add more cloth to make it last the same amount of time

I hate to say it but you're not really missing out. The forest is one of those games that lacks a "constant grind" and once you do everything there is to do the game becomes pretty bland, although if you haven't hit that point already it's quite entertaining
I love The Forest. I have played it as a relax game on normal difficulty. I have built a pretty large base on the northern spring near the planes cockpit and a holliday cabin further west of it. I have spent quite a long time playing it and found your videos by searching for some info about it. However I grew a bit tired of playing it after completing the story and fine tuning my base (Two storey main building with water source inside, an armoury on the cliff above and a guard house on the other cliff; gardens, walls, ziplines and all). I completely understand your need to get away from it for a while and to be honest I have enjoyed your nonrelated videos quite a bit. I personally would like to ancourage you to play games you enjoy and to make some videos about them. We all love your commentary whatever you play. You do not have to become a single-game-youtuber! As long as you enjoy your work we will enjoy it too. Keep up the good work!
There was literally NO reason to remove power attacking while moving. Power attacks are pointless because you are forced to stand still, and if you get hit it gets interrupted. Cannibals tend to move around a lot and can easily hit you before the power attack can connect. Sons of the Forest re-introduced that mechanic and it made melee actually good and reliable.

Weapon Upgrade Counter (no. of upgrades already placed) was removed, as was the ability to place hanging skull lamps on a lot of structures including cannibal buildings. Game became a lot darker but with a modern monitor that shouldn't be too much of an issue (they removed the light!) xD
My friend discovered a way to Doop items. You need 2 players. Place one log in a log storage. , Then both players need to spam X and square, we are on PS4. The act of both players taking one object forces 2 to spawn some how lol. Enjoy
Just subscribed. Your videos are super helpful. I hope they remove mass mob spawns or at least change the spawn requirements and placements. I'm around day 55 and trying to cut trees I get swamped by armsies and cannibals or just a bunch of mutants. I'm building your floating cannibal base as I only just found out about the worm which destroyed 60% of my base I spent hours on. I really hope they remove the worm as with it I just find I don't enjoy the game.
The advanced spear is the best for taking down stick trees in my opinion. Try it. Usually gets them in one hit if you're not infected Edit: sorry.. just realised I wrote the same thing 2 years ago hahah
I remember when you use to be able to hack apart cannibals for parts and put their body parts on pikes as warnings to other cannibals to stay away. You had three kinds you could make. You could also cook them and eat the heads, legs and arms. But not the torsos. You could also collect their teeth. There would be drying racks for food and you could put meat on them but also cannibal parts and eat them too. If they decayed, their bones would drop to the ground and you'd build things out of them. There was also a bone collection bucket. I don't know if it's still in the game but you could also have trophy plaques on your walls for your kills. For alligator or shark heads that you'd have to drag to your cabin. Combining sap and feathers with your axe would increase it's stats and make it faster and stronger.
I really like this game. But why is everything so well hidden? Take the rebreather. It's the most important item in the game. I don't know about you all, I find it hard to navigate in the caves. Even with the map! Wish they could make it a little more clearer.

I started actually trying to beat the story recently, after setting the game down for a few years. Glad to see I wasn't going insane about a few changes, especially the custom upgrade placement. I wouldn't have minded it's removal if the random placement wasn't awful. Have several feathers pointing backwards. I really love the game overall, but the full release still kind of feels like the games lost in E.A.
Do your upgrades disappear visually between game sessions? Mine do. I just got into this game this year so having custom placements would bother me even more. But yeah it's quite a mess with the auto-placed feathers. Next time I reboot the game I have a naked weapon though. Upgrades are still there, just can't see them.
Hello! Wanted to say thank you for the videos,helped a whole lot in my playtime and still helping. I saw the last video(before this one) and have one idea for you - Build a medieval castle! Big open area, guard towers, arrows and fire in each with siege weapons...big central building, few stories high,grand hall,armory,kitchen and what not. Its good season 6 materials and its gonna be a huge build, but then again a lot of small ones...
It's still buggy but less maybe idk, I just bought the game these past few days since it is summer sale. I'm new to the game, I join a server, just normally playing with 2 strangers who knows each other and suddenly the ground shakes, my game lags for a seconds and back to normal. Many chunk of woods appears on my screen after the ground shaked and a steam notification appears showing achievement unlucked saying cut 1000 trees, and the game brought me back to main menu. I join again to the same server and asked about what happened and they have know idea too since they are new players like me.
I like the piling up ingredients on the crafting mat then complete as many as you have resources for. Dunno if some bind is supposed to add all, it used to but it doesn't work for me anymore. Some inventory stacks have been doubled, others have been capped at 5 or 10. You can now have more 10 of each skin and armor on you which is good. Weapon upgrades, well I liked the customization but it's better if the upgrades actually save. I think they had a ton of issues with that, I knew I had that for probably a year of version so I'm glad they work now. I think stick holders and activated happy birthday traps are still indestructible? But I play as if they are not so it doesn't matter. Anyway if they made all structures follow the settings that's good. IDK if that is removal? Anyway good info on the strength in Hardmode Survival, +1!
You’re still able to build on the large raft but it’s very finicky. You can’t build structures on it anymore, but you can build smaller things like a stick holder, water collector, etc., but even then you have to be careful. You have to build them on the raft before you move it an inch. If you move it at all before building a water collector or anything else you’ll have collision issues and things disappearing. The large drying rack also remains in the game if you have old saves with one in the world.
When I got this game in 2014, my laptop was so shitty that it couldn't read the daylight so it was permanently dark. Thank God I have a real gaming laptop now
I hope they add a patch soon or some sort of update... I know they worked for a long time on the game before the hard release, but still. I feel like there's a lot more they could do with the game!
5:00 I didnt even know this but I managed to get a shark and croc head to my fishing themed base on an island. You just have drop it in the middle of the boat and go real slow. A log collector at the back helps when it slides. You will need to pause, only row one or two times and wait, keep an eye on the head. Pick it up and move it back to the middle. It takes a while but its possible. Now my fishing shack on my island has a croc and shark head trophy hanging outside.
I cant find the caves for the crossbow and one of the blueprints. the boat wreckage that marks the crossbow is gone and no caves there and on the 4 islands on the southeast side.
Dynamite cannibal? Oh man i can have some fun with him. Tricking him into exploding his allies. Dropping his dynamite and he explode. Now we just got Flame Boi. He the cannibal with the Tennis balls and gas and through it at us.
I still hate the way the cave entrances look now, they made them have that sort of rock wall/overhang above them now, where it was more subtle before. Also i remember a time when swimming to the yacht was dangerous, as there were sharks in the water there. I haven't even seen any sharks since they removed them from there, even though supposedly they're still in the game?
Massive respect for removing a video of a glitch that no longer works. I wouldn't like to count the hours spend on games with friends trying to replicate a glitch we saw a video for, only to realise it had been patched...

Bit of a weird one but did it used to make a sound, like a chime, when Cannibals were close or had seen you? Just recently got back into playing this again (love all the content btw) and I think maybe I am imagining it but I'm sure there used to be almost like an alert or warning noise
Something I'd like to see is the option to plant trees so that in much the same way you can deforest one area you can use another as a "farm". As for a lore reason trees grow so fast? I dunno you've got tit monsters with six arms trying to kill you who cares. :p I'd also like to see buildable fireplaces so you could merge them into a house boat or create a great hall with hearths lining the walls in the cold zone.
i wish they added the old drying rack and paint back, although fairly annoying that rack got me some good memories, altho i miss the paint because i enjoyed putting it on my weapons ;(, also miss customizing my weapons.

I've never seen or heard of this game. I don't even play games like this but this video was in my recommend videos. After watching it though I feel sorry for the people who can't do all the cool things they want because of the changes.
you know you can just duplicate everything by disconnecting with one guy holding the logcart, or simply by saving and giving all your stuff away and loading your save again.

I really love the game overall, but the full release still kind of feels like the games lost in E.A.
Do your upgrades disappear visually between game sessions? Mine do. I just got into this game this year so having custom placements would bother me even more. But yeah it's quite a mess with the auto-placed feathers. Next time I reboot the game I have a naked weapon though. Upgrades are still there, just can't see them.

Hello! Wanted to say thank you for the videos,helped a whole lot in my playtime and still helping.
I saw the last video(before this one) and have one idea for you - Build a medieval castle! Big open area, guard towers, arrows and fire in each with siege weapons...big central building, few stories high,grand hall,armory,kitchen and what not. Its good season 6 materials and its gonna be a huge build, but then again a lot of small ones...

It's still buggy but less maybe idk, I just bought the game these past few days since it is summer sale. I'm new to the game, I join a server, just normally playing with 2 strangers who knows each other and suddenly the ground shakes, my game lags for a seconds and back to normal. Many chunk of woods appears on my screen after the ground shaked and a steam notification appears showing achievement unlucked saying cut 1000 trees, and the game brought me back to main menu. I join again to the same server and asked about what happened and they have know idea too since they are new players like me.
I don't really understand why they keep fixing the awesome bugs, and don't fix the annoying bugs like houseboats going flying into the air.
I remember the dynamite cannibals, because they absolutely annihilated my base, then I woke up the next day and they were removed.

I like the piling up ingredients on the crafting mat then complete as many as you have resources for. Dunno if some bind is supposed to add all, it used to but it doesn't work for me anymore.
Some inventory stacks have been doubled, others have been capped at 5 or 10. You can now have more 10 of each skin and armor on you which is good.
Weapon upgrades, well I liked the customization but it's better if the upgrades actually save. I think they had a ton of issues with that, I knew I had that for probably a year of version so I'm glad they work now.
I think stick holders and activated happy birthday traps are still indestructible? But I play as if they are not so it doesn't matter. Anyway if they made all structures follow the settings that's good. IDK if that is removal?
Anyway good info on the strength in Hardmode Survival, +1!

You’re still able to build on the large raft but it’s very finicky. You can’t build structures on it anymore, but you can build smaller things like a stick holder, water collector, etc., but even then you have to be careful. You have to build them on the raft before you move it an inch. If you move it at all before building a water collector or anything else you’ll have collision issues and things disappearing. The large drying rack also remains in the game if you have old saves with one in the world.
"Dynamite Cannibal" has got to be one of the most metal name's for an enemy ever!

When I got this game in 2014, my laptop was so shitty that it couldn't read the daylight so it was permanently dark. Thank God I have a real gaming laptop now

Haven't loaded this game in so long until recently. It has some pretty graphics but still looks like an indie game (that also skyrockets my CPU fan).
5:00 I didnt even know this but I managed to get a shark and croc head to my fishing themed base on an island. You just have drop it in the middle of the boat and go real slow. A log collector at the back helps when it slides. You will need to pause, only row one or two times and wait, keep an eye on the head. Pick it up and move it back to the middle. It takes a while but its possible. Now my fishing shack on my island has a croc and shark head trophy hanging outside.
I cant find the caves for the crossbow and one of the blueprints. the boat wreckage that marks the crossbow is gone and no caves there and on the 4 islands on the southeast side.
you can see part of the ship wreck on the island.
make sure your on the west side of the island.

Dynamite cannibal? Oh man i can have some fun with him. Tricking him into exploding his allies. Dropping his dynamite and he explode. Now we just got Flame Boi. He the cannibal with the Tennis balls and gas and through it at us.
I haven’t played sine release and restarted. I was like how in the hell did I burn my weapon before. Now I know haha gone
I still hate the way the cave entrances look now, they made them have that sort of rock wall/overhang above them now, where it was more subtle before. Also i remember a time when swimming to the yacht was dangerous, as there were sharks in the water there. I haven't even seen any sharks since they removed them from there, even though supposedly they're still in the game?

Sharks are just not jn between the yacht and the shore, if you swim on the other side you'll get sharks for sure. Gotta kill one for an achievement

Massive respect for removing a video of a glitch that no longer works. I wouldn't like to count the hours spend on games with friends trying to replicate a glitch we saw a video for, only to realise it had been patched...

Just recently got back into playing this again (love all the content btw) and I think maybe I am imagining it but I'm sure there used to be almost like an alert or warning noise

Something I'd like to see is the option to plant trees so that in much the same way you can deforest one area you can use another as a "farm". As for a lore reason trees grow so fast? I dunno you've got tit monsters with six arms trying to kill you who cares. :p I'd also like to see buildable fireplaces so you could merge them into a house boat or create a great hall with hearths lining the walls in the cold zone.
i wish they added the old drying rack and paint back, although fairly annoying that rack got me some good memories, altho i miss the paint because i enjoyed putting it on my weapons ;(, also miss customizing my weapons.
Does someone remembers the sound it would make, if you suddenly see a cannibal next to you? Jesus fucking Christ, that scared the shit out of me..it was like one tone of a piano or something..and they used to spawn cannibals really close to you as well I think. I kind of miss that sound lol, even though it freaked me out

I've never seen or heard of this game. I don't even play games like this but this video was in my recommend videos. After watching it though I feel sorry for the people who can't do all the cool things they want because of the changes.

you know you can just duplicate everything by disconnecting with one guy holding the logcart, or simply by saving and giving all your stuff away and loading your save again.
