Lin movements are rigid while suyin movements are flexible. Thats kind of describing their respected personalities.
I think their movements also differ based from their experiences, be it that Lin did her time fighting criminals in Republic City (thus doing a lot of physical work, making a toll of her entire body) while Suyin ventured off, doing a lot of work outside of just earthbending and metalbending (like sandbending and circus act) that helped refine her movements. Yes they both came from Toph (a prodigy at age 12) but that doesn't mean they're as same as her nor as each other
Lin uses more force and power, but I wouldn’t call her movements rigid. Look at the sisters’ fight. Both look pretty fluid in their movements to me
i think it's the difference between positive jing and neutral jing. suyin bends like toph. she waits and uses things that come to her. lin's fightstyle is more offensive and is reminiscent of the earthbenders in atla 1

This is because Lynn's father is a man from the kingdom of Earth, and Suyin's father is a Sokka (Water tribe)
Toph could have soloed the entire season without any help lol

think people are overestimating old Toph. She’s definitely still a threat but nowhere near as much as she used to be. She’s old, reflexes shot, slowed down, not as agile or fast and has back problems
Toph is a legend but she’s not soloing the season, or at least not in her current form
@@scrappycoco6282 that’s true, idk if it was cuz Bumi was a guy and that testosterone must’ve been hittin different or the creators simply weren’t thinking of the consistency of elderly benders still being able to keep up with young ones if not leaving them in the dust

The fight could end with a big interruption that avoid us to see a winner.

It's interesting that the more conservative sister Lin, uses more earthbending, the traditional art, and the more progressive one Suyin, uses more metalbending (the newer art).

I mean, it definitely encompasses the chaos and destruction that accompanied Harmonic Resonance.
If Toph was in her prime, Kuvira could not stand a chance…and she knows it.
Combustion bending is pretty awesome, but I always thought it gave the user tunnel vision, which meant susceptibility to surprise attacks.
If I had to guess fire bending was fueled by anger or raw passion like Young Zuko and Iroh. Stronger anger like Azula led to her blue flame a hotter and more concentrated flame.
Focus that heat in a tight, very specific spot and boom instant combustion.
From that perspective, you're absolutely right.

No, it doesn't. That combustion eye is actually just a barrel where outburst created by big inner pressure comes out from, nothing more.
what I love about american action animation is that they really put high production with fight scenes than most of animes.
They only really step up the fight animation when they put out movies from animes. The Dragonball super: super hero really stepped up their game as a example.

I think western animation have better, bigger budget than most animes.
Might I suggest you watch Fate series? The fight scenes are top notch.
I remember watching LoK the first time. I literally gasped and held my breath when Lin unalived P'Li in the most brutal way possible.

When faced with an earthbender who can flawlessly perform wide-ranging but highly precise feats, who wouldn't let Toph take what she wants and leave?
At 4:57, you can see the difference in Toph and Bolin's mastery level with earthbending. Bolin has very dramatic movements while Toph just casually helps with her hands behind her back lol I love subtle lil details like that

Yes as a martial artist IRL (TKD Family much love for us❤) I can say that she has sort of like a tricking flow martial art type of movement compared to Lin who’s more grounded and traditional earthbending style
She’s a dancer and acrobat despite being an earthbender, so makes sense

Metal Bending requires stubborness, which Bolin doesnt have.
This is an interesting point. I've got another one after reading your thought: maybe, it's more about sensitivity to little earth pieces rather than stubborness. Metalbending is actually fine and detailed work, so maybe Bolin lacks some accuracy for this specific kind of work. Lavabending is a rougher type, I think.
Suyin bends as if she incorporates water bending into her fluidity . Lin is more controlled in her bending style , which ultimately is her down fall. Sort of like when Korra struggled with air. It’s like she’s fighting against her own potential in a way .
Yes but no actually. Lin was not really in her right state of mind when fought agains Su and also was not with her armory fighint in someone's else place. It was pretty clear that Su would win based on the circunstances and yet Lin got on pair with her
I continue to be amazed at the fluidity that you can work into animation, how the elements (fire, earth-metal, water and air) and the movement of the characters flow so easily such that the element becomes an extension of the person in the movement🤯🤯🤯🤯, and it is so much harder to get this effect with live action. After 2 tries, I say it's time to give up on the live action Avatar...it just doesn't translate.
I hope they introduce sand bending in the next series.
Possible since the next Avatar in the cycle is earth.

Yes. But it was heavily underutilized. One or 2 episodes at max for its use. And we learned very little about the sandbenders in the desert.
If this is the Toph in her younger version, she will definitely smoke Kuvira hahahaha
LOK earth bending is so tamed almost domestic.Toph or King bumi would’ve been too op for the series
I feel like they are more concentrated on metalbending than earthbending now. The creators aimed to show us its beauty and progress.
