personally, what I do is I custom name my regiments that perform deeds that practically turned the tide in battles. I had one battle as sweden that was absolutely brutal, only two regiments survived it, I renamed both regiments after the city they defended and brought them with an army that was invading Russia. Unfortunately, after a series of hard fought battles, the army was cornered in St Petersburg, facing 4 to 1 odds, they held their ground and died fighting. The last two regiments to go down were the two heroic regiments, each killing at least three times their number before being destroyed.
Mid 2019 and re-binge watching this series. Of all the Total War games I have played this is always the one I come back to because of the time period and nostalgia as it was the first one I really sat down and played a full campaign of. It's just satisfying when all those muskets go off.
I have been a big Total War fan for a long time and have been hoping to find a good commentator. Glad to find your channel. Subbed, keep up the good work man.
You know what would be great? A Total War game that takes place on a map similar to the one seen in Empire (with the addition of west Africa) except in a 50 year period from 1820-1870. Something that focuses on the technology and weaponry of the early-ish industrial revolution (as seen in Fall of the Samurai) and could possibly boast an American Civil War expansion pack. A sort of Empire 2: Total War, of something. I hope that's what the Creative Assembly makes next!
As someone who is knowledgeable on the Navy but not old enough to join, H.M.S means Her Majesty's Ship. Many of the Navel bases are named after famous British ships, eg H.M.S Sultan.
The i5 3570K, its the latest Ivy bridge processor range from intel, while the 2500K is still good its a few years old now, better to buy the latest tech for future proofing :)
Yeah I talk to them now and then, don't always get to play that many games due to time zones or that wea re just busy recording etc but we try to when we can :)
Due to my sluggish internet, I often have a book with me to read while videos buffer and it was very convenient that for this video it was none other than Sharpe's Eagle, where the South Essex and Sir Henry Simmerson are introduced for those whom are not familiar with the Sharpe series.
Lion! Your campaign is very good. You have convinced me to get this game and darthmod with it. However, watch out for friendly fire, especially while maneuvering your cavalry in front of your infantry.
Im obviously a bit late, but you have replaced finbar as my fav tuber . Excellent commentary and content . Finished sweden lets play now moving to the damned able redcoats bravoand cheers for a excellent channel. Huge plus my wife thinks your voice is extremely sexy. Ive used your tactics for sweden "my first campaign in total war" im doing remarkably well after defeats with america and russia. Bravo ty for great vids
Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry - rangers, i just thought it would be fitting to name them a Canadian unit since they were trained in Canada
For the Grenadier regiments you recruit in the Americas or bring from Great Britain itself you could name them Canadian Grenadier Guards or CGGs for short.
I dont normally comment on vids and I know you probably wont read this as your video is 4 years old. Having said that I felt I must comment on this one. I am really enjoying watching your ETW vids and listening to your awesome impressions. But your references to Sharpe (95th Rifles, Sharpe's Rifles, South Essex and Simmerson) made it for me. Ive enjoyed watching and reading Sharpe and Hornblower for many many years and often watch re-runs. They are the sole reason why I play ETW and NTW and interested in this era of warfare. Keep up the excellent work 😀. On a side note I didnt know you could get 95th Rifles in ETW DM or not. I know you can in NTW. Can someone please confirm. Also how do you rename regiments? Thanks.
lionheartx10 Thanks for reading, replying and the info. Ive only recently downloaded DM (although Ive had the game since day 1) so I will keep a look out for them. All the best
Mate you are the best you tuber out there! There are many great reasons but one of them is cos You're British ! Hah, keep on you tubing, You're the best lion
That's quite a reason, I admit. Although, my advice is to use "mate" and "undoubtedly" much more. To the majority of English speakers, those words sound extremely cool. Keep up the good work, by the way. D'you know, if there's any DLC as an award for pre-ordering Rome 2?
Lionheart i was thinking back to the sharpe series and remembered the KGL -King German Legion. Yoiu should either attach it to a infantry unit or attach it to lancers as in the book they had lancers. Hope thos helps
I would appreciate it if you named you 50th regiment of foot 'The Dirty Half Hundred'. Also if you called your 39th regiment of foot 'The Dorsets.' This is a fantastic series sir.
Ah! Very good! Well I just like the idea of men coming from all the rural towns of England to expand her Empire! The men of Worcester, Lincoln, Richmond, Huddersfield etc
One name I thought of is 'the butchers of bengal' - east india company infantry. This is historical given india regents did give themselves wacky names eg tipoos tigers ehoch did exist.
I'll undoubtedly do that. By the way, I'm quite curious about this, d'you keep contact with the other guys doing Total War let's plays? I mean, whether you do some online battles with Sapphire or Surreal Beliefs or not?
Robert E. Lee - General... specifically one who is loved by his men Stonewall Brigade - line infantry 93rd Sutherland Highlanders - infantry... it would be cool if they were company men
Really mate? In every country? Or only in the UK? 'Cause here (greetings from Hungary) it's not likely. Whatever, I won't bother you with stupid questions, you undoubtedly have better things to do. Subscribed!
can you call one of the welsh line South Wales Borderers or STP,s 5th Infantry Division (line infantry) becuase of zulu wars and for STP who died in the battle of waterloo ( sorry about the spellings i have dislxyer)
I hope you remember me i was in your sim city live stream- AaronMcf123:) could you rename a line infantry- The Royal Ulster Brigade, as i'm a BIG fan from N.I
For squad names, 54th Prometheus battalion, 74th New World Order, 5th Red Coat Coalitionist, Steel Inquisitor, 69th Iron Fist, The Manchester Militia, The Red Devils

+TheFanoren That is so cool.
I know the comments a year old, BUT YOU
INVADED RUSSIA?! HOW MAD ARE YOU?
they say variety is the spice of life. I say fuck that, insanity is.
+Ibney00 the real question is did he invade in the winter because only one empire has done that
Ibney00 I did mean that only one empire succeed in invading Russia in the winter

omg the ships have random names *nerdgasms everywhere * sorry i'll just clean that up
I have been a big Total War fan for a long time and have been hoping to find a good commentator. Glad to find your channel. Subbed, keep up the good work man.
Does anyone else cringe when lionheart sends his cavalry units in front of his own troops' line of fire? cx
Me! :D

Lion! Your campaign is very good. You have convinced me to get this game and darthmod with it. However, watch out for friendly fire, especially while maneuvering your cavalry in front of your infantry.
The Sharpe references are wonderful, especially to Simmerson and the Kings Colour's. Vaguely tempted to watch Sharpe's Eagle now..

I would suggest taking any captured ships, and placing them on Trade Routes.
Save the costs of building Trade Ships!

For the Grenadier regiments you recruit in the Americas or bring from Great Britain itself you could name them Canadian Grenadier Guards or CGGs for short.
Well what settings do you want to run games on? how much is a small budget? PM me your reply.
correct! they didn't have those 2 red lines that go across the flag like an X until later.
Oh, just for the layout you asked for: The Lion's Raiders- Mounted Tribal Auxiliary.

Maybe call a force 'The Lion's Raiders', a regiment of horsemen dedicated to raiding enemy forces.
That's quite a reason, I admit. Although, my advice is to use "mate" and "undoubtedly" much more. To the majority of English speakers, those words sound extremely cool.
