  • The History:
For years, Windham mountain's primary beginner lift was the 1984 VonRoll-built Whiteway Triple. For its first few years of operation it only served as a beginner lift, but after the construction of the Why Not Triple in 1987 to serve the new East Peak (later replaced by East Peak Express), Whiteway served as a direct access link to that area. Whiteway also had the duty of bringing skiers to the mid mountain lodge and primary terrain park. It was perfectly adequate at these tasks, but to improve skier experience Windham replaced Whiteway in 2022 with this lift. The Whiteway Express is a Doppelmayr detachable quad and allows for far easier loading and unloading, higher capacity, and a far faster ride time than the old triple. Many have questioned Windham's decision to replace Whiteway with a detachable, but it makes perfect sense to me as it provides a far easier loading and unloading experience to a beginner.
    The Lift:
Unlike the original rumors, the Whiteway Express is not a Doppelmayr D-Line lift, but rather a UNI-G detachable quad. It features a UNI-G bottom drive terminal and a UNI-G top return. It features the most recent iteration of Doppelmayr's EJ quad carriers, Agamatic grips, and D-Line line gear. The control system for this lift is similar to that of Doppelmayr D-Line lifts. Its design speed is 1,000 ft/min (runs slower during normal operations) and it has a capacity of 2,400 p/h.
