Ray Bradbury stands against the banning books. of Ray Bradbury's book, "Fahrenheit 451," has ended up on banned books lists. So much for his theme about censorship. 60second Recap® has the inside insight on that right here.
I feel guilty for using summaries and recaps to study for a test on a book I was too lazy to read which happens to be about the intellectual deadening of humanity from a lack of reading.
His number one theme is not censorship. People misinterpret this book as being about government forcing the book burnings on the society, but it's really the society forcing the government to burn books. Bradbury actually visited a High Schol in the 1960's, and had to argue with the students, insisting that his book was not about censorship.
FYI, He actually visited the University of California where he debated with the students.
Literature inspires us to think, to argue, to grow. That's why we read.

I read to learn and laugh and grow and, maybe, to become a better, kinder, more broad-minded person
The actual recap, which starts at 0:19, lasts exactly 60 seconds.
In the society of Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury criticizes the tendency to reduce everything to it's most basic form and the bare minimum (a.k.a. the quick and meaningless parlor shows) - such as by taking away any parts where it can be analyzed and reducing everything to a one-minute dosage (complex ideas reduced to a 1-minute parlor show)
Isn't that what this video is doing?
Thanks. Great video. I was just wondering if the theme is individualism versus conformity, what can the 3 arguments be?
the number one theme isn't censorship. He said the story is about how television destroys interest in reading literature.
