- Kranman shows how our ATV trailer T1750 with winch HV500 can facilitate the work of wind traps. Fallen trees can be dangerous to chop when they have hanged, but with an ATV trailer from Kranman, the job goes smoothly and safely. The winch is radio controlled with a pulling of 800 kg, capable of winching the most of the tasks. In front of the trailer we have a Suzuki KINGQUAD LT-A750XPZ 2019. The chain saw we use is a Husqvarna 550 XPG.

Great system! Understand that some see it as too small for full scale logging operations, but the targeted operations it is scaled to process fill a huge gap...too small to draw a full-sized equipment spread, but allows a skilled operator to work effectily. Would love to try one out on my Tree Farm. Work on the price points, and bring systems to America. 🌲🌲🌲

The gate is 1 m2 = 3 m3
12500 for this trailer plus 8000 to 10,000 for the atv. l guess I would get a draft horse and move more wood for a lot less and prob. lower eco. impact

Why in the world would you be down hill of the first blowdown that you bucked off the root-wad? If you buck it off standing up hill there’s a standing tree just up the hill of the blowdown to protect you if the blowdown is in a bind and kicks out, but only if you’re working up hill from the blowdown.Working below any tree or log should be avoided at all times, sometimes it just can’t be avoided. This wasn’t one of those times.

According to an above comment, about 120 000 SEK + taxes and shipping, which translates to about 11 000 Euro/12 500 USD + taxes and shipping.
@@prima164 Depends. A mini excavator would be an extremely bad fit for driving around forests in scandinavia where these things are made. The ground is usually wet enough that you'd get stuck and then you'd have to get something like a tractor to pull you out of the ground. An ATV is both much lighter and much more nimble, giving you more options to pick your path through the forest. Not to mention that a lot of ATVs have the option to attach a winch, which means that if you DO get stuck you'll most likely be able to pull yourself out without other machines.
That said, these setups aren't super common even in scandinavia. Most people basically have larger versions of these trailers that they pull behind their tractors. You can find one of those second hand for somewhere between 5-10k USD depending on brand, age and condition as well as size. Probably even cheaper if you don't mind going for an old off-brand one. New tractor-sized ones can cost anywhere from 15k to over 100k USD depending on size and brand. But then, you don't exactly use the more expensive ones just for firewood. They're more intended for people who want to do their own forwarding but don't want to buy an actual forwarder.
Also one of the advantages of using one of these trailers is that you can bring the logs to the trailer with the winch, rather than driving your machine to the logs. This leads to a lot less compacting in the ground as well as a lot less damage to the root systems underground, in addition to making it much less likely that you'll accidentally damage surrounding trees by bumping into them. All of this leads to a healthier forest that's more likely to be profitable when it comes time to harvest it for timber.
