Very interesting video! In my hometown in Greece there are huge saffron fields and i am very familiar with the plant and the fibres. We use it in our foods, drinks etc. To me some times it comes a bit medicinal, like iodine but it has some beautiful nuances in fragrances. I really like the saffron in ombre leather!
I can’t wait to try some of these but my favorite saffron has been Jo maline’s Saffron, which sadly was discontinued! I love the way that one smelled, it felt like a true saffron to me and reminded me of India!
I really enjoy the Aramis Calligraphy Saffron. Outside of that I never explored this note. But glad you have compiled such a great list. So many scents to try now.

I like Black Saffron and am now curious about Safran colognise.. for cooking I use it to flavor rice and curries .. and also when I make applesauce at home I like to add a pinch of saffron to it! Also living in the Middle East I drink a lot of coffee flavored with saffron and cardamom. As for ones not on your list I really like Saffron Lazuli by Carolina Herrera.
Oh , Sebastian, you missed Milano by Fragrance Dubois. That one is a gem. It smells very similar to byredo black saffron, but FD is more refined and a tad sweeter
I would add Safran Troublant L'Artisan Parfumeur, Byzantium Saffron The Merchant of Venice, 8 88 Comme des Garcons and Salim Bagh 1619 Tabacora Parfums.
I have been wearing Azaran for a couple weeks since getting my bottle, definitely works much much better in dry heat compared to high humidity IMO...humidity brings out the fresh aspects whereas dryer heat lets the fragrance stay much more focused on the leather accord, Azaran has become tied for best of Le Gemme next to Garanat and Falkar 👌🏻👌🏻
While i absolutely love the smell of "Oud for Greatness", i personally think the situations you can wear it in, are pretty rare, cause it tends to get pretty cloying when your skin warms up. Like, if you are in the cold for long, or you dont do things that make your skin heat up, its okay.
@@FSU92grad I live where it's mostly cold, either in Alaska or North Dakota so I guess I'm fine. I can see it being cloying in the heat but I've never thought about wearing it in the heat.
I know I'm late to the party, but I love saffron in fragrances. My favorite rn is Xerjoff's Italica, where the saffron offers a beautiful counterpoint to the sweetness of the composition.
Great list and I enjoyed it and I had a sample of imaginary authors slow explosions and I give it a 9 out of 10 and I might get a bottle one day and I'm going to try the other fragrances and have a blessed day

Noble Leather is seriously underrated. It’s my favorite leather (I haven’t tried African leather but sounds like that could be a contender). The combination of patchouli, amber, vanilla and saffron with the leather and dried fruits is exquisite. It feels like it should top best leather lists. Perhaps the leather is too toned down for some but I think it’s perfectly balanced.
Great video Sebastian, I have oud of greatness… which saffron fragrances are spicy 🌶️ like oud of greatness/baccarat rouge extrait or even ebony wood from Zara in this list? If it was possible I would layer an spicy fragrance with every other fragrance. I really like spicy fragrances
Some fragances that I like with the saffron note are: Overture man by Amouage, Polo Supreme leather by Ralph Lauren, Moroccan amber by Alfred Dunhill, John Varvatos Oud by John Varvatos
Why is it not fair? I never noticed similarities with Oud Bouquet and the Kajal. Besides the Kajal does not have gourmand notes whereas the Lancome does. So why would you say it's not fair when I don't see the similarities and you do and then go to the extent of saying it's absolutely a copy of Oud Bouquet.
Hmm...I must have a weird nose...I have jars of Saffron but it smells very sweet like Rooibos tea and aromatic floral. Really don't fancy a leather/wood/chocolate + saffron combo at all tbh. I want a more floral/fruity/gourmand. Nishane or the Bulgari sound interesting. I think I might try Robert Piguet (V Intense/Bois Noir) or L'Artisan's Safran Troublant. My poor Asian skin does not lend well to Middle Eastern ouds/leathers imo 😋

If you like saffron ..just test Amber saffron from Niche4all. The smell if this perfume is just Amazing! And its for a nice price.
Widian Liwa is my favorite Saffron fragrance. Similar to OFG but in my opinion much better

I’m definitely no expert, but I did pick up a noticeable saffron note in Teo Cabanel’s Oh La La. I find the hazelnut/saffron opening so entrancing.
