I loved Project Hail Mary and I want a sequel from the perspective of the people left on earth. I loved the back and forth from earth to mars in the Martian. I totally understand why all that wouldn’t fit for multiple reasons into this book and It’d probably be more of a dystopian apocalypse sorta book which isn’t really Andy Weirs thing but I desperately wanna know what’s happening on earth.
-you should probably read the book. Agreed. I was almost depressed after moving to a new city and having to work everyday leaving little to no time for "recreation/social interaction". I got the audiobook and wow from the first day I was just laughing out loud at the sub or tearing up out of joy or empathy. What a fantastic read. Loved the book, but there were two things, as a high school biology teacher, I found to be inaccurate. First, most teachers swear a lot, just usually not in front of students. Second, biology and physics are polar opposites in many ways and a microbiologist might not know some of the intricate details of physics that Grace knew. That being said, I loved the overly complicated ways that he solved some problems when a simpler solution existed (E.g. 26), as that is quite common for science teachers who are trying to demonstrate a concept with whatever materials they have on hand.
Well Grace didn't start out as a teacher. he was in academia in the sciences and only became a science teacher because of his paper. And he's a science teacher, not just a biology teacher. he repeatedly says stuff like "As a science teacher you know that when you have a spectrum hanging on the wall" and stuff like that.
