Just a shame because the amount of free attractions in front of the resorts are all dwindling down. It was honestly magical to walk the strip as a kid in the 90's, the treasure island show with the moving ship, the volcano, and others. You can't even walk on the fake Brooklyn bridge anymore they put up shops and fast food in it.
Yeah it gets corporate-tized and dulled down.
@LisaLisa-jd5mv of course it's a way to save money, water fountain in the middle of desert that can reach 120 degrees it's a huge waste, it's why the bellagio uses recycled toilet water from the hotel.

MGM sold the Mirage due to isolation from the south strip resorts which the company only owns
90s was the best time to be a kid honestly
I was there in 1989 the day they erupted the volcano for the first time, I was 10 years old. That was the beginning of the “family” era for Vegas. Excalibur, The Luxor, The MGM with their old theme park, the addition of The Adventure Dome at Circus Circus. Sad to see the Mirage go but I guess that’s Vegas.
Those were magical times. Feels like the Vegas Gold Age was from Mirage opened to when Aria opened. Now everything they build seems the same - equivalent of a nice Hilton or Marriott you could find in any city with a casino added on. Nothing new unique and awesome is built anymore. The Golden Age of Vegas is OVER.

It’s just going to be closed for 3 years (albeit it is a while) but it isn’t going to be permanent.
It's not reopening in 3 years. It's done. It will be Hard Rock after the site is rebuilt/remodeled.

The Mirage is perfect the way it is. One of the most beautiful casinos in Vegas. I just cannot understand why anyone would want to tear it down and rebuild it. 🤦♂️
I don't think they're going to tear it down...just the volcano and front area...I THINK the casino and rooms will just be renovated while the guitar building is built?
For sure. All they had to do was keep it maintained and do some renovation and Mirage would have been perfect. The Guitar Tower just sounds like it will be another overpriced hotel tower with some nice pools and some lights that go off. Mirage was an EXPERIENCE. Hard Rock will just be the restaurant turned into a hotel.

I’ve always loved the mirage
Glad I stopped in and took a few pics of that phenomenal tropical foliage this past November. I was afraid it could have been the last time I'd see it, and unfortunately, looks like it was. I don't know if I'll be as excited to be surrounded by guitars and Rock and Roll themed everything.
When Hard Rock built the guitar in Florida it made sense for them because Vegas is the largest casino city
This is my favorite hotel in Vegas. I love the atmosphere and the plants and landscaping. The pools are lagoon like. I will miss this one. The Mirage, the Flamingo, and the Tropicana had the best pool and gardens on the strip in my opinion. Now only the flamingo remains. The Mirage and the lagoon and volcano were the most beautiful part of the strip. The Bellagio is the only one left with a nice front area and landscaping.
Is the view of the strip from Resorts World going to be ruined by a giant guitar building??
owners are just dumb and dont understand that one of the most driving emotions of humans is nostalgia. New isnt always better, and often times change is the kiss of death.

The classic rock theme isn't going to be better there than it was at the old location. It might be cool, and I am a longtime music fan and musician, but I preferred the Mirage's Tropical/Polynesian theme to Hard Rock. I felt like it had too much rock kitch and items that weren't rock, like Katy Perry's dress. It's too much like a museum.
The Seminole Tribe is making a fortune having a monopoly on casino gambling in Florida. They have so much money they will probably end up buying half of Vegas.
@@Orlando_Steve Yeah but it only goes so far. They have years where they feast but when the economy declines, gambling is the first and hardest hit, which is the reason they got on the strip in the first place....
MGM has control of the “Mirage” name and they operate resorts south of Caesars Palace
MGM Resorts are more southern part of the Strip and Caesars properties are the more northern part of the Strip
If MGM still operates the mirage it would be isolated from other MGM properties
The volcano would so fit the rock and roll theme, so sad they are taking it down too. Saw once two years ago and it was so awesome. I like music, rock and stuff but I find it kinda the volcano show being replaced by a humongous guitar.
3 years is a long time to wait. I LOVED the old Hard Rock (except location), and couldn't believe how mediocre the Virgin hotel that replaced it ended up being. I hope they do the new hotel right.

If the Mirage is going to get 3 years renovations it should re-open as the Mirage! It is iconic enough to stand on it own branding for years to come. If Caesars Palace can remain top tier then so can the Mirage.
It’s north of Caesars Palace. MGM operates resorts south of Caesars Palace and the company has control of the “Mirage” name.
They will build a new Mirage or rebrand one of the hotels south Strip someday
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida has a guitar hotel so that’s why it’s coming to Vegas because it’s the largest casino city

Before living here…when I was kid…I don’t know what it was. But this hotel impressed me the most at the time. Old Vegas was truly awesome.
I got to go to Vegas for the first time last year and I'm glad I got to see The Mirage before it is gone.
According to one of your other videos, The Mirage saved Vegas. I stayed there for New Year's Eve 1999-2000. Some great memories.
I personally think it would be funny to start a petition to put grave stones in for the mirage and Tropicana, and in the most inconvenient spots possible

This makes me really sad. It's not even that old, and it's going away. The mirage is one of the prettiest resorts on the strip. Vegas Vacation (1997) was filmed here.

Yo Jacob. I visited the mirage a few months ago and they asked for a review. I gave them extremely low marks but i didn't expect a 3 year closure! This is Fontainebleau like! Crazy

Actually, from a business point of view, it's a really stupid idea. The current property and theme appeal to a much wider demographic than a hotel that is solely focused on rock and roll music. The new owner obviously has a lot more money than they have business sense.

That's bull crap! How dare they tear down the mirage just to build a stupid guitar casino called the hard rock! Didn't Las Vegas already have a hard Rock casino? Hard Rock Cafe same thing.... Why did they have to pick the mirage to do this project? The mirage has been there for 34 years. When they're going to add a guitar tower to it.. is this guitar they are building going to have a cool show to it kinda look just like the volcano at the mirage was a cool show for all the tourists to see every time they would pass by? I say that nobody goes to it! Nobody spends their money at this hard Rock casino And let it bite them in their ass for demolishing more of our iconic casinos/ hotels that made Las Vegas originally! Las Vegas isn't even Las Vegas anymore, and Shame on these new owners! Nobody in Vegas wants that casino replacing the mirage obviously! It's going to be a tribal property.the new owners are native American, For all their tribes to go too.

I don’t know why people are so attached to this thing/place. It’s just another money sucking, greedy casino. It sold its soul to the highest bidder. The owners don’t care idk why we do. The volcano is nice on winter days because it warms you up, but TBH it’s tacky and dated. It’ll be neat for something new to come in. And hard rock properties rock.
