Gangle is so relatable. She had big dreams and goals (being a manga artist) but got stuck in her repetitive job while being afraid she is not good enough for anything. I kinda feel that ❤
The fact that as soon as Jax leaves the building he just, stops smiling really indicates more about his character, like as soon as he’s alone he just gives up on the “smile all the time” thing, I can’t wait to learn more about him.
1) The masking metaphor is not lost on anyone. 2) 9:40 Who hasn't seen their manager like that at some point? 3) 15:56 Gangle is clearly projecting, she likes to draw so that must have been her dream before. 4) 18:16 That is definitely a line from Raggedy Ann and Andy Musical Adventure. Gooseworx loves that movie. 5) The way Gummigoo reacted when Pomni said his name, that sad look he gave her when he left. I think she made him remember their last adventure, up to the part when he was snapped out of existence. He knows all he's ALLOWED to do is play his role, but doesn't say anything because he just can't hurt Pomni anymore than she already is.
I love how Zooble is so sweet and caring for Gangle, they definitely have a soft spot for her. The bond they have is adorable, they’re almost like siblings. Their wholesome interactions and concern for each other warmed my heart.❤
This episode honestly felt far more "miserable" and "sinister" compared to the others, I guess this just shows why Caine preffers to make the more crazy-showstopping adventures
Its the disconnect, unrealistic scenarios no matter how scary or extreme allow for more audience disconnect. However when its closer to an everyday experience and treated as depressing, serious, or miserable, it feels that much more real. This is why many times when you real world scenarios in shows they tend to be treated as a comedy or a small part of the story, and why certain villains and thrillers feel that much worse when the scenarios are closer to events that real people can and have actually experienced.
It’s because you can relate to feelings of existential dread and caregiver fatigue. You can’t relate to saving a Candy kingdom from gooey fudge monsters though.
I love the foreshadowing when Gangle talks about drawing manga being an unrealistic dream, then in the last scene, she's drawing it. She was projecting her frustrations.
I like how they used Gangle's masks as an allegory for hiding depression. The way she finally smiled, even with her tragedy mask, was so heartwarming, and so was the final scene with her and Zooble. I can see them being really close.
I really like it how Jax is slowly getting his facade pealed off, I can't wait until we get a complete mask off to see his true self and his insecurities. That small moment where he asked Pomni how she was doing was the most of himself he ever appeared in the show thus far.
I like how Gangle is meant to represent people who mask their depression and frustrations. People who strive for more then their current circumstances, which is what the ending scene was, Gangle wanting to escape her mundane life and finally doing so.
I'd be surprised if she didn't turn out to be bipolar, and that's how it manifested in the digital circus. She *does* mention a manic episode early on so it could be that. I have bipolar disorder myself, and mania can *definitely* make you go off the deep end.
"It's called a manic episode and you're in for three more seasons!" Gangle isn't a bit of a sad person. Gangle is bipolar. And I've heard that when you're changing from a manic state to a depressed state or the other way around (like she seems to have done here taking off the happy mask and going back to her sad mask) that you're most likely to harm yourself. Those are the times when you both think about doing it AND have the energy to follow through on the thoughts.
Gummigoo showing up again and not recognizing Pomni was such a gut punch. Her first true friend in this world, and he technically never met her. Tragic.
A fun horror fact: in the scene where jax was being brainwash on TV with a gangle mask on screen, that is a direct reference to Halloween III season of the witch but instead of brainwashing your head is being filled up with insect, spiders, & snakes when someone wearing a pumpkin, skull, & witch mask.
The truck scene when Gangle take off the happy mask is some sort of way of saying that once you accept yourself and your feelings, that at the moment you find the confort out of the strees in your life, when you find a way of being okay further the complications of how are you living, at the very moment you find your way out(like when Pomni have opened the "way out of closing time" for Gangle), in this very moment when you realize that, life can come trough you like a "truck". This truck scene is not literal (i hope so), is some figurative way of saying that life can out run you if you dont watch out, thats the kind of moment that you realize you have to enjoy your life, that you better enjoy your time, chase your dreams, and most importantly, even that living is not cheap, neither easy, it's much better to "LIVE, DON'T SURVIVE" for you and everyone else around you. Well at leats that's my opinion and way of viewing this truck scene. By the way hello Zamber!☺ This is the first time i wrote a comment in one of your videos, your channel is amazing and you are a great youtuber! Considering how the other adventures went, I think that Pomni actually got somewhat of a break here. I mean, yeah, she got reunited with Gummigoo and it was very hard for her to see that he didn't remember her, but she still got happy for seeing him again. And sure, she still ended up serving as a therapist for a bit, but nevertheless, it was a pretty calm adventure for her. No new trauma to add to the ones she already has... But poor Gangle... I think anyone can relate with her. We all have had those feelings of frustration and burn-out. To have this big feelings that we have to hide behind a big smile... Something like that can only bring anyone to insanity. Perhaps she having her comedy mask always breaking is not always a bad thing, if that prevents her from proccessing all those sad thoughts. And let's not forget about Jaxx loosing his smile and attitude and Ragatha tripping and revealing more about her, like glimps of her previous life and how she is a people pleaser. She said it herself, she hates Jaxx, but she can't bare the thought of him hating her. And Gangle even said that, after sometime, it's hard to tell when Ragatha actually cares. I hope a next episode will handle Ragatha's need to make others feel better and force herself to care about their needs and disregard hers.
@happysmilesworldandgames8755| Not punishment, just consequences. Jax does what he does because he's realized the digital world doesn't have lasting consequences for his actions.
I'm pretty sure after watching this that Gooseworx worked in fast food before and might have some trauma built up from the experience. Also, 16:32 has got to be a Halloween 3 reference.
@lazy_doormat3076 gooseworx posts a lot of art of pomni was a unicorn horn with the catchphrase "Well it's possible" which she almost says before Caine interrupts her
Loved getting some focus on Gangle on their character and how they were like before they showed up here. It was just really sad and I loved that Zooble was there to comfort her. That scene where she looked scary with the teeth creeped me out. A really good episode honestly I have no complaints. Gagged to see Gummygoo again this episode.
You know, since this episode focused on Gangle, it was interesting seeing how her comedy mask is basically a metaphor for people masking their feelings and insecurities! Like, it feels really obvious in hindsight but since it was mostly an episodic gag I hadn't really thought about it until now!
The thing about not knowing how genuine Ragatha is makes so much sense. She seems like an intense people pleaser. Iirc she pretends to be completely fine with pomni abandoning her in episode 1, so the idea that her nice ness is somewhat performative was very well set up.
I noticed Gummigoo reach out a hand when Pomni was talking to Gangle which makes me wonder if he at least partially remembers… I know Cain confetti’d him out of existence, but… His data is still there in the circus’ adventure zones. So, I think he has at least a partial memory… He obviously doesn’t recognize Pomni, since he never addresses her by name.
On a side note...the Ragatha stupid sauce thing is funny, the whole high employee trope, but it is going with the possession last episode, Caine said he can't control their minds but we have now had an adventure where their bodies can be hijacked and now they can be doped. PS: I think Gummigoo remembered Pomni, at least after a moment given his look and tone like when she said his name and the goodbye, but there is something behind the scenes where the NPCs that can remember have learned to follow the script or else suffer the system or Caine's wrath, and Caine I think is not the highest power here, when he tries to call himself the boss he glitches out.
I'm starting to think it is rather fitting that Pommi is a jester. She is becoming responsible for the morale of the other players. I feel like Pommi came out of this episode better than before. Her encounter with Gummigooseems to have helped.
Gangle having a manic episode and coming out the other side of it feeling like she annoyed everyone and being afraid to face them again is... painfully relatable as someone who struggles with mood swings.
Look at Gummigoo's reaction in the background while Gangle berates Pomnim or as he leaves after Pomni's farewell, again. Are you sure he doesn't remember?
Was it just me or did it feel like Gangle's new mask feels like a metaphor for new medications? Like it does a better job of keeping her 'happy' but it comes with unexpected side effects. Edit: and got to end of video comments and apparently the metaphor was obvious.
16:38 When this happened, I literally thought the Silver Shamrock song from Halloween 3: Season of the Witch. Six more days till Halloween Halloween Halloween six more days till Halloween Silver Shamrock.
Ragatha reminds me of me when I got Secretly Drunk working at Family Buffet. We gotta get support groups for people who worked in fast food and still have PTSD about it
After seeing this episode, I love how their designs reflect their real life selves and their personality traits. Gangle seems like she’s masking her depression judging from her different masks, Zooble maybe having trouble w/ gender identity and body dysmorphia, Ragatha maybe coming from wealth as she’s a raggedy Ann doll and have like a prissy/perky type design, and I think King’s design is the way it is bc he’s a computer engineer and really smart, and I guess a lot of ppl associate chess w/ intellectualism and stuff. Can’t wait to see what the others’ designs might allude to about their real lives.
My mother said she use to work at Burger King back when she was 17. She said she doesn't miss it. But everything was half off for the employees. I've never worked at fast food but I gotta feeling that a restaurant is more fun visiting it than working at it!
Life hack, I guess: get your non-slip shoes about half a size or on one size up than usual. Big enough that you have room but not big enough to be an actual problem! I'm a small guy so they didn't have any my size & that apparently wound up being a blessing. Super comfy :]
14:30 I’ve been looking through reactions for this. I do believe there is some level of him in there. Like he might be able to remember if he spent enough time again. I don’t think it’s all lost. Why am I so sad for this character?😢
I think the plastic happy mask is a euphemism for artificial happiness or faking positivity-“masking” around others. Hence why Gangle was so manic and insane the whole episode, it’s preventing her from expressing how she really felt. This rivals her normal comedy mask which is typically when she’s actually in a good mood, but it’s Jax that usually ruins it for her.
I wrote Gangle off as a filler-background character but this episode made her the most relatable to me in the sense of masking your depression and anxietys. Now I like Gangle more, funny
I watched the episode this morning and I'm still wondering what the hell what was in that stupid sauce O_O cause poor ragatha, she acts like she's drunk and seeing demons
I relate waaaaaaay too closely with gangle. Having the mask slowly slip with every jabbing comment and fighting to hold the face. Thinking the people who are trying to help you (ragatha) arent being genuine. Seriously. Im in a way better place now, but the whole scene with her running through the parking lot after dropping her mask and her getting hit by the truck..... ooooff. The theorests are gonna go crazy with this one. The "purgatory" theory hits hard here.
I feel like I relate with Gangle in the aspiring artist doing a monotonous job (tho I don't have job-) and also being constantly sad and putting on a mask to hide it
I'll say this; Gangle intentionally walked under the streetlight and turned her back slowly to the road. The two possibilities are she tripped and fell back, or she intentionally stepped back. But why would Gangle trip towards the road? She wasn't leaning back very drastically and seemed very in control of her body up to that point. She could've only tripped in that direction if she took a step in that direction; otherwise she's far more likely to fall forward. This leads to my only conclusion: it was, sadly, intentional. The shocked expression is no counterargument; they always say the view is more beautiful from halfway down. A lot of people theorize that Gangle's masks are representative of anti-depressants. She is happy when she wears the happy mask, but it can be broken. We've never seen the sad mask break. And the new mask; that was either a placebo, or a new medication that wasn't as effective. Gangle threw it away, because it wasn't helping her. She wasn't happy. She wasn't normal. She told herself it made her feel normal, in the hopes that she would eventually believe that lie. And she did a fair job too, though she leaned a bit too far into mania, displaying that happiness is a very, very hard concept for her to grasp without her "Happy Face."
Question, have you already started the reaction to the latest batch of episodes of Beastars that came out last week? Like at the moment, they’re Patreon exclusive until you can edit them for UA-cam? Also if you have seen them, what did you think of the episodes, give us a little Zamber hint of your expression

11:50 RAGATHA DON'T TEMPT the Fandom!!!
I could never imagine working at a fast food restaurant and I work as a janitor
isn't janitor worse? you can get a better job than that, that's like a dead end job,you deserve a better job than that
Question, have you already started the reaction to the latest batch of episodes of Beastars that came out last week? Like at the moment, they’re Patreon exclusive until you can edit them for UA-cam? Also if you have seen them, what did you think of the episodes, give us a little Zamber hint of your expression
Arifueta from common place to world strongest
Where’s the relevance to that?
Gangle got isekai'd lol
This one was heavy in a way I really didn’t expect, but I should have.
Hello, the final season of Beastars is here, part 1, could you make a react of it?
I don’t think they’re in purgatory but I think the digital circus is supposed to parallel purgatory
dam a reaction vid already 😊
Well that was fast 😅
This episode I don't relate as much because I never worked in fast food but the pizza shop I go to with my college for employment is pretty close to it zamber think would love the college I go to as it works with people whom are the autism spectrum
Did anyone else notice that when Gummy Goo ordered he called Pomni Shelia? Or did I hear that wrong?
Pretty sure that’s just an Aussie thing. They call girls “sheila” as a term of endearment.
Yep, just an Aussie thing.
Poor Jax
I have an idea for something you can watch. You should watch a rainbow high. There's 5 seasons of it.
Cool
YOU'RE SO QUICK WTH THE EPISODE CAME OUT AN HOUR AGO
Dang
