my birds flew real low last season too, I think it has to do with the wind and temperature. If you watch, they dont ever really just point upward and fly high the way falcons will. they just ride the thermals up mid circle. I dont think it affects they're speed or homing ability.maybe just a bit more dangerous for them.
Hi Tom I have found that if you keep the birds inside loft untill they wing Flapping! Thats about 5 days! you will find when you let em out they will go really high up and Range the loft.👍
I wonder if that low flying was caused by training them off the saw horses so many times. Saw horse to loft may have conditioned them to fly low . Just a guess
Very well could be... this year I did not move them in groups as they progressed like I had done previous years. I just kept them all at that same spot until we had the team together. We will see what happens.

Im sure the main reason they fly low is that they know a hawks around some where!.

When pigeons train on the loft and do so with low turns, it is because they lack food, dark days or breathing illnesses.
Give them a little more food (corn) in the afternoons and you will see how they rise
