This is one of those pieces where you here them all over the place but you just never know the name of it. Great piece, love the piccolo solo in the middle!
Wow. I've never heard a better performance than this one. The euphoniums and tubas in this are so rich. Bravo piccolos. The sonority of this, especially in the end is fantastic. Best performance of this piece I've heard. Thank you.
This is fantastic and basically the visualization of a piano roll in any Digital Audio Workstation. Could you possibly play with dimming and brightening the colors to emphasize changes in volume and dynamics?
I have experimented with that. It doesn't work very well. We are much more sensitive to changes in size than changes in brightness. For my experiments with dynamics, see the videos in this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLtj_HurkS7ZwcYB4CAqCxhOeM-gf8olUl.html
Please forgive my ignorance, but is this a recording of an ACTUAL ensemble with musicians performing or electronically created music ? I ask because : 1. The march is PERFECTLY played. 2. The overall sound is the finest I've ever heard by a band. If this is an actual ensemble, what's the name please.
@@smalin Yes. Stay for the credits ! I was sooo impressed by their playing that I immediately began my next activity. Nevertheless, your recording expertise is at least as fine as the U.S.M.C. Band's playing !
Yes this is the President's Own US Marine Band. Got to see them in 2015 and it was the most incredible concert band experience I've ever had. They're world class musicians.
Paul, this is the cream of the crop musicians, not just any musician can represent and play for the President of the United States…only the best! Happy to hear you thought it was perfection!
@@Darrel_Owen oh no don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic piece. It's America's national march for a reason. But for me the greatest pieces ever written would be mahler symphony 2 or 3, Verdi requiem, rachmanoff piano concerto 2, or bach mass in b minor. Idk if you are into classical music or not, but they are worth a listen if you are into that kinda stuff.
Sousa's marches are so simple yet so damn catchy.
This is one of those pieces where you here them all over the place but you just never know the name of it. Great piece, love the piccolo solo in the middle!
I love how all the themes work in harmony/counterpoint in the final section it's like when bach wrote military march
This is great! My music students love videos like this one--it makes it very easy to follow the different music lines in the piece!
Thanks! (And: thanks for helping me share my work.)
Dat piccolo! Amazing fun to see the notes for that solo!
In college, we did it with a tuba solo, because, well, tubas!
Wow. I've never heard a better performance than this one. The euphoniums and tubas in this are so rich. Bravo piccolos. The sonority of this, especially in the end is fantastic. Best performance of this piece I've heard. Thank you.
I think this is the marine band
It is, it says that at the end.
This musical composition is true genius. It is one of my favorites. Sousa is a musical prodigy. Wow I feel so patriotic.

@@smalin would you do Saturn the bringer of old age.
The best improvement is the visualization of the percussion! that's beautiful.
Just wonderful
Never heard a rendition with that flute part, neat.
God bless the Enclave.
Fantastic! My youth orchestra always plays this at the last concert of every year, but we do it in the key of D for the ease of the string section.
your youth orchestra sounds fabulous.
The animation is so pretty on this one! Love it!

Which instrument is the yellow star at 1:09 supposed to represent? It doesn't specify in the description.
Can you hear it? What does it sound like?
I I presume that this is a triangle.
I’m sure it’s the Glockenspiel.
Sounds like concert bells to me
Glockenspiel.
Is the 2 themes playing together considered counterpoint?
Yes
Oops I think you missed a "tr" at 2:24
How did you even spot this
HOW COULD YOU... OMG I can't even.....
Ohhh no!
Wonderful -- I love the way you did the percussion. If this piece doesn't get your blood moving, you're dead. :-)
I have really enjoyed these marches. Thank you.
this is really cool and helps me understand the music better, thank you
Its so well made
I adore this place. And your video helps me to hear the music better because I can “see” it. Thank you! Fantastic job!
That original score is incredible. It's very difficult to read.
Perfect.
If I made a country this will be the national anthem

Cronica TV de Argentina !
My grandfather played French Horn in the Buffalo NY band in the 1920s and 30s before it became the Buffalo Philharmonic.
Which parts do all the colors represent?
missed a trill at 2:24
awesome!!! :D
This march is used in most 4th of July marches.
Ryan Regala thats because it’s the United States national march.
Love it :)
You should do swan lake
First off, love your work! And, I see you're transitioning into less "classical" pieces by definition. Ever thought about doing any John Williams?
Austin Cappetta Many people have asked for John William's music. It would require his permission. So, you should ask him.
Hey John..... :-)
Weird how the euphoniums are shown as with the tubas, I thought they played most of the main parts in this throughout the whole song.

Could you make glinka patrioticheskaya pesnya animated score?

What for, anyway? That's a rather atypical piece to ask for an animation of.

Hey stephen could you perhaps do some russian classical music like from rachmaninov or their anthems? :)|

Paul Masgalajian yeah the “President’s Own”
As I get older I learn that a lot of what I grew up to know as silly circus music is supposed to be serious military music.
Military music, yes. Serious ... well, it depends on the piece. A lot of music for military band has its humor.
The jazzed up animation works well!
I fucking love tubas... wait, did they use a sousaphone for this?
it sounds a lot like it could be sousaphone, there's no real way to tell.
there's a video of this recording, they are tubas. definitely not euphoniums
This is so american 😅 you guys
Sang this for choir
HELL YEAH!!!

God Bless America.
This i will hear at the end of WW3
Quite possibly the best song ever written.
Definitely not by a Longshot

+Scaredlimabean74 If I hadn't done drugs (when I was a kid), I wouldn't have invented this kind of animated graphical score.
+smalin No matter how thin you make your pancakes, there are always 2 sides.
+Scaredlimabean74 unless you twist one end 180 degrees and paste it to the other end. Then there is only one side.
Well then you've made a twice as thick, half pancake that has two sides.
