Thank you for a clear, well done demonstration of a great idea. Seems like I am always short of just the right piece I need for project, so this is fabulous to know.
To make PVC tomato cages, the cost of the elbows exceeds the cost of a Wire cage. Using a heat gun to bend the tubing has my cost at 3 dollars for a 6 ft tall cage.
For elbows, and or bends insert a flexable stainless steel shower hose in the pipe to keep it from kinking. Just be sure the hose doesn't have ends on it or you won't get it back out the pipe without cutting it to remove it.
i have to say , I had always done this BUT only do it for electrical grey pvc conduit, will never attempt to do it or recommend to do it in for a supply water line, note that doing this WILL definitely change and affect the PSI that is designed for, so be ready for a surprise if one day you ger home and for some reason the water pressure went up a little in your area.🙈🙈🙊🙊
HD sells 1/2 in. Electrical Metallic Tube Inside Corner Pull Elbow for $5.49 that (for non-wiring projects, e.g. a garden trellis) could be replaced with a DIY PVC connector.
He shows that at the beginning when he reduces the end which he uses as a tool. In your example, you would start by forcing a heated 1" inside a !'' for the initial reduction .Then continue heating and forcing the reduced end into successively smaller sizes, such as tool sockets, under you achieve the desired size.
This may work if your too far away from a hard ware store, or if it’s a emergency and it’s after hours, other wise it’s time consuming, it’s way faster and cheaper, cuz less labor, just to buy them, also it may not work in tight spots, , but it’s a great ideas. I’m sure if will come in handy.
usually when you need something like this it is Sunday and where I live all the hardware stores close for the weekend at noon on Saturday, of course I can always make the 120 mile (round trip) drive to home depot.
It's a great idea for emergencies. I can be done with my project during the time it takes to make one connector. Thumbs up for ingenuity.

For such a quiet and peaceful rest of the video, that bang of loud noise at the start is unwarranted
Ok
What a cool trick, especially for emergencies or where/when materials may be unavailable
Saved me a bunch of searching big box depots for sold out items in this Texas Winter of February 2021 we just had.
Thank you so much for your very helpful and well done video! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you for making this tutorial. It gives me some great ideas.!!!😃
Thanks for the money saving , emergency situation information !
Thank you for explaining this process. I watched my brother do this and wasn't for sure what I had seen. Now, I understand it much better.
This is a great way to save when you inadvertently cut a pipe too short for traditional fittings
Thank you, this was very, very helpful for me.
It's wild that these pieces were around $.50 at the time and now they're $2.50.
Thank you so much for teaching us this!

Thanks for sharing that info!
Oh the luxury of tech. Back home in Nigeria....we use good ol paper on fire
Smart :) - You could make these over a drum, whilst burning trash. :)
that's actually pretty good. well done
Very good. I have done storm water pipes like this heated with a piece of burning newspaper. The heat gun looks a lot tidier.
I have a question...is this method good for both Schedule 10 and 40? Great video!
Excellent video... Liked/Subscribed !
U r a genius.
Excellent. Many thanks.👍🇬🇧

You are one smart dude
Very clever! I would rather just buy the fittings for the job but if I was in a jam or something... it's SUCH a clever option! 👍
Thank you!
what about the fittings which have 3 sides one to up - one to left - one to right
Wouldnt that weaken the pvc quite a bit? Would it still handle 50psi?
Where is the elbows ? ??

Great vid, thank you for sharing.
Very good👍👍👍👍👍
The only problem with heating PVC is it changes the chemical composition and weaken the pipe
Great content bro i like it too much
Super 👍
How would you reverse the process? Go from 1” to 3/4”?

I had the impression you were going to make a t connector...kidding aside is it leak proof when you do that? Thanks.
The struggle' is for real 😂
Trying to make my own knee scooter lmao

It depends on where you are. If you're in a remote location and don't have time to drive to town, this might work in a pinch. ;-)
That is exactly what this is for. For when you are unable, for some reason to get the exact fittings needed at the time.
I don't have a heatgun, but a toaster works.
Can't see how u bend them to make elbow
I dont have a heat gun..can i use fire from gas stove?😂
Where’s is elbow. You didn’t make one. Fixed your title
What about electric bills 💵
Fajne ksztaltki 😅
All that effort to save 50p

Will this work with cpvc?
yes
This video doesn't play.
Sorry the video won't play but that is 100% a problem on your end not UA-cam or me.
