    Recommendation stays the same for the video, just a clarification. Thanks for watching!

    I've used Windows my whole life, 3 years ago I started virtualizing some Linux distros out of simple curiosity, now I'm finally switching from Windows to Linux and I'm going to start with CachyOS, which seemed like the best option. Thanks for the video. I'm excited for the video with the gaming settings.

    First of all, congratulations on the very comprehensive video. I've been using Arch Linux for about 6 years, and sometimes I test other distros to see if I can get better performance. I tested CachyOS on my machine, and it performed exactly the same as my Arch Linux (kernel 6.6.42-1-lts), which is strange given all the optimizations CachyOS has. I will wait for the CachyOS optimization video to see if I can get a bit more performance.

    I just installed CachyOS on a ten year old HP notebook with Hyprland and Budgie DEs. This is now one fast device. I am running Fedora with Hyprland on two newer PCs and they are running well. But, Fedora was too much for this old laptop. CachyOS is a pleasant surprise.

    Hi, i'm new on the channel. I wanted to try a desktop version of linux (for now i only did basic things on servers, mostly gaming servers on debian) and found out i really like arch linux. I was trying to install EndevourOS, but it gave me some problems and then YOU "SAVED" ME. I found cachy os thanks to you and i really REALLY like it. Hope to see an in depth optimization video soon. You gained a subscribe my friend, yours is a really good work.

    Great video, A1RM4X! Even though I installed CachyOS without this video, I still watched it and you explained some things that I didn't know before, such as paru and configure it! I loved how you explained what a lot of the settings are, etc. And one thing that has held me back from using systemd was that I was under the impression that only GRUB could handle booting from the boot menu. It seems systemd allows it as well. I'll have to play around with it (in a vm first) to get used to it. If I find it works with snapper, I'll probably convert to it the next time I have to reinstall CachyOS.
    Keep up the great work. Love your videos and streams!

    I really liked CachyOS (did a live test), and i can install it and use it, and I'm planning to, but there is this tiny little problem compared to distros like debian and ubuntu and mint distros, i feel its lacking lots of default pre-installed libraries packages so users don't have to deal with problems by default, i can install it one by one but its annoying, sometimes i can understand which package is missing, but when sometimes that log doesn't point that? using LDD, trying to launch by terminal and looking at which package that lib corresponds into arch repository in google, maybe in the future i will have to make a script post-installation to install all these missing stuff that doesn't come by default with the distro.

    Heard Cachy's kernel is actually pretty good. FYI to existing Arch users, you can add Cachy's repo if you want, no need to reinstall your system. I usually don't prefer forks, but I respect Cachy for providing means to add their forks from their github page

    Brilliant stuff A1RM4X and thanks for "converting" me to this as my very first Linux OS. Looking forward to further vids on CachyOS. A question please: I realise that when I installed Cachy that I selected ext4. It seems btrfs is the more preferred way of going. Is there a way (other than a new install) to change my OS to btrfs? Keep them coming mate, you are doing amazing work in the community.

    • @bannedbrother
      @bannedbrother Місяць тому

      Oh of forgot to say "you use Arch BTW"

    •  Місяць тому +1

      there is no way to do that. BTRFS is only worth it for the backups. Ext 4 has a very similar performance. Both of them are lightyears ahead of NTFS that windows use

    • @A1RM4X
      @A1RM4X  Місяць тому

      It depends on your needs. If you want compression and snapshot, btrfs is the way to go. You would have to reinstall the distro to switch though...
      If you don´t need those features, stay on ext4. You will be fine (I use it if it makes you feel better).

Only issue I have it the log in screen has tearing around the input boxes. Once I log in though everything is fine. Tried a couple different log in screens but same issue.
