Landscape Photography in France - Alsace, Perfect Disney Landscape, Strasbourg, Colmar

- Опубліковано 21 сер 2017
- Alsace has instantly become one of my favorite landscape photography locations. Strasbourg, Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr and Niedermorschwihr are alle cities/towns we visit in this video. They all have such amazing photography opportunities. This place is as taken straight out of a Disney movie! As a travel and landscape photographer this is a place to visit! The old town of Colmar and Strasbourg, Le Petit Venice and Le Petit France are both absolutely beautiful and romantic and are well worth the visit. Alsace is a very romantic place, which could work very well as a wedding photography location too!

Love the shot with Sofie and the town in the background. What a photographer’s playground Europe is.
Alsace was truly a gift, a surprise gift, when we visited it for Christmas Markets in 2017. Colmar and the family owned wineries were our favorites. Romantic indeed.
Absolutely beautiful, loved your attention to detail in all of the idyllic land
Wow a new place to add to the ever growing bucket list :)
It's amazing! :)
Superb pictures by a superb photographer with a very pleasant personality. Thanks!
Pictures and location are great ! Beautiful work ☺ well done
pause julien thanks a bunch again 😊
We were there in 2017 on a river cruise down the Rhine. Strasbourg and the Alsatian Villages were two of the stops and I have to say, it was like walking around a fairy tale scene. It was probably one of the most scenic places that I have ever seen. I really your appreciate your videos as I just discovered them last month. I have found them both entertaining and educational.
Rocking video yet again Mads
Thanks Christopher :)
I can recommend to do the trip from the source of river Mosel in the Alsace mountains (south west from Colmar) to Nancy up to Luxemburg. That is what we did last year. Don't miss "Grand Ballon" the highest place in the mountains. Phenomenal view !
Thank you Axel! Might do that one day :)
Great Alsace based video. I’m going there next week to take some photos in Strasbourg and maybe further into Alsace, and you’ve definitely inspired me to think about the compositions available. Great work and thanks so much for posting this video.
Great video as usual Mads!
Thanks a lot Tony :)
Yet another fresh and educational video. Wonderful locations and stunning pictures.
Thanks a lot Aritz :)
It's always nice when you bring Sophie in for perspective. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of journey.
Hehe yeah, she's doing good :)
We went a few years ago. Thanks for reminding me how magical it was. Really enjoy your work.
I've been to Riquewihr and have a similar shot from the vineyards outside of town. There are some great spots in Alsace, try to hike to Petit Ballon d'Alsace at sunset. It's a very well known region from French, English and German people. Very popular for its wines, villages and castles and famous for its Christmas markets. I think only the French go for the mountains. If you liked Alsace, there are other hilly regions with insane villages like this. You should try Quercy, with places like Rocamadour or Saint Cirq Lapopie, or the villages around Albi, or areas like Corrèze (Collonge La Rouge, Turenne), Aveyron (Conques especially), Cantal (Salers and Tournemire)... There's a lot to do.
Thank you so much for these incredible inputs! I've put them on my map! :) Especially Saint Cirq Lapopie looks especially spacial :)
Thanks for tips and advice. Awesome foto!
I very much enjoyed this video. You are obviously not just a skilled photographer, but a skilled videographer and storyteller. BTW in English those are rows of grapevines, but I couldn’t tell you what they are in other languages. 😉
Very helpful. I hope to go in a few months and this is exactly what I need (especially the list of small town Eguisheim).
Beautiful photos,h as usual, and always great information.
Thank you Nina! Much appreciated. Do you have a favorite shot from the video? :)
Very nice Mads, congratulations on finding the beauty and the beast town.
Hehe thanks Darren! Yeah a bit of googling and whoopsy doo :)
Excellent video with some stunning images. Loved the first one of your wife/girlfriend/friend walking through the vines. Most original, and thank you for sharing all your camera settings and thought processes, Mads. You are an inspiration.
Thanks a lot Tony I'm happy to inspire :) She's my friend and an amazing travelling companion :)
Greatjob. 👌😁
Thanks! 😊
Some things cant be taught and you have them in abundance sir! The quality of your film making is also quite stunning. I would call it BBC quality. Keep up the great work!
Another great video including great shots. Very good inspiration for a trip sometimes in the future ...
Thank you very much Kurt :)
Once again a great video! I love how you added the vlog style commentary on location to describe your composition. Very nicely done
Thank you very much! I'm happy you like it. Takes a bit more work, but I think it adds some depth to the videos :)
Mads, I came upon your videos just the other day and I think I've watched each and every one. Your images are stunning and the videos are a great resource for anyone planning on visiting the places you have photographed. I do follow some of the other UA-cam landscape photographers, but take my word for it, you are the tops, in terms of the quality of your images, information and presentation. Keep up the great work Mads. Dave
Thank you so much Dave! There're some really great photographers out there :)
Das Elsaß. Schön..
You have captured some beautiful images, it makes me want to go there myself.
Thank you Keith! I hope you will some day :)
Thank Mads for this video. I like that you take the time to explain what you are doing with the compositions and how you are creating the images. This is helpful to me, so I can try to apply some of these to my photography. This is a beautiful location.
You are most welcome and I'm happy you're learning something :)
Thank you for once again a beautiful video.
Thank you very much :)
Another superb vlog Mads, those towns and villages were stunning weren't they!
I hope you're keeping and staying out of trouble!😎🍀👌
Thanks a lot Andy, they were indeed! Loved them all, the atmosphere and mood were so relaxing :)
Great video. Definitely looks like a superb location for photography
Thanks a lot Gordon! :)
as always amazing. Your videos are so inspirational.
Thanks a lot Peter! :)
Great video, Mads! I really liked some of the new things you tried in this one that I don't remember seeing in your other videos. The lighthearted vlog-style footage on location where you talked to the camera worked well. I also found the detailed discussion of specific compositions very engaging, and liked how you showed what your intention was by indicating various lines and features using your hand in front of the lens. As always, the final images were fantastic, particularly the last two at the vineyard which had a beautiful dreamlike quality to them! Bravo!
Thank you Jon, I'm happy you liked this "new" approach. I think it works pretty well too as long as I manage to not blabber too much ;)
Nicely done Mads. I enjoyed seeing you on location.
Thanks :) Happy to hear that! I'll do more of that in the future :)
Hey Mads, after watching your new video, I have just added Alsace to my list. I've been to Gerardmer a few years ago, which is located a bit further, but after seeing this, I need to go back !
Hi Frederic, I'm happy to hear that. Gerardmer looks beautiful too! :)
Excellent
Another well told photographic journey. I really enjoy these videos. I thought you captured some brilliant pictures. There are definitely a few places there that I would like to photograph.
Thank you Julian! And the great thing is, it's not that far from Southern England :)
It sure isn't. I've already added a couple of spots to my locations map for future reference. :-)
Looking forward to see what you'll catch :)
Very nice video
You just got a new subscriber. I'm a big fan of Thomas Heaton, but I have to admit, you are just as talanted and inspiring as him. Keep up the good work and I'm sure you will earn a lot of subscribers in the future.
Thank you so much Limpan! I'm a big fan of Heatons videos too :) welcome aboard ;) I wonder how you found my channel?
Mads Peter Iversen I'm a beginner photographer and I like to photograph landscapes and other subjects in the nature. I'm pretty young, only 14 years, but I've already made a photography page on Facebook and I've even managed to get some followers. It's called "Photography by Olofsson" by the way.
Me and my family are planning to go to Iceland next summer and I would of course bring the camera with me. But the other day when I was at school I started thinking about the Faroe Islands. So, when I got home I searched for "the Faroe Islands landscape photography" on UA-cam and your videos popped up. After watching the first one I couldn't stop, so I ended up watching your videos for the rest of the night. I fell in love with both the Faroe Islands and your videos. I really like the way that you combine footage from the place you are talking about and images from different places and times of the day at the same time you are explaining how to get there and so on. Your work is truely amazing! So I guess that's how I found your channel and I wish you all luck in the future!
Thank you so much Limpan! I'm happy you like the videos and thanks for letting me know how you found my channel, it's very cool to get some new subscribers who found me through UA-cam. I wish you all the best too! I'm releasing a Q&A video soon, I think there'll be some great tips for you.
I totally agree!
Such pretty villages and so beautifully captured Mads 👍 The lines of wine grapes are called vines in English and a whole plantation is called a vineyard (pronounced vin-yard) 😀
Thanks Ciara and thanks for the grammar! I actually thought a vineyard was "behind" walls, as in a garden in a monastery or such.
You need to visit Annecy in France I went this summer and it was the most beautiful place I have been
I sure do, it looks beautiful there!
Having a person in the image is always a great plus it gives the image impact or life. I enjoy your videos since you have a good description of places you visit and very good narration to the videos. I especially enjoyed the ones you made when you traveled the USA, I am looking forward to travel there myself and make some good images. I saw on one of your videos that you purchased a Sony have you taken images with it? I shoot with a Nikon D-810 myself and I would like to see how much more the Sony allows you to pull the shadows and how you feel after using a Canon camera. Cheers.
I actually answer that in my latest video on gear :)
I like the Sony and it is very good for what I so :)
J'habite à Colmar ce très jolie
Beautiful! I'd love to photograph there, but it's highly unlikely that I'll ever make it to France.
Thanks Theresa - I guess it's just about priority? :)
Hi! Your videos are fantastic! I was in Provence a week later than you and it was fantastic. About the Alsace I tried two times to take landscape pictures of Niedermorshwir but I've never found that road..Could you please explain me a little bit better? I know that place very well as I have been living in Basel since the beginning of the year, so I go there at list once per month. Thank you!
Thanks a lot Stefano! You just follow the road out of town and turn right up the hills. You can see the road on the right side of the picture. Makes complete sense when you're there :)
Thank you! I will try
nice pictures,You will also come to Slovakia?or Where do you still have a next destination?
Thanks Miroslav :)
Sadly I have no plans for Slovakia for now. My next travel destination will be Great Britain and the Alps :)
I'm curious about the new video,Switzerland is very beautifuul country and lakes
Great stuff! Is it my eyes or pictures are not that sharp, just wondering.
Seen Sheen they should be sharp enough. I do use some Orton effect, that might give the illusion of them not being razor sharp since it creates a subtle glow :)
Very much enjoyed your video of this area as my great-grandfather left Alsace around 1830 after the Germans laid siege to the city and made his way to the USA. Have you ever thought about videoing the differernt places you spent the night in all these videos you have made, might be a little ad income.
Thank you Michael, happy you liked it. And I love such stories - so interesting! I have thought about it, but I'm not sure the extra work is worth it :)
You should do a video on Bruges if you get the chance.
WPHL I might do one day. I think it deserves a couple of days stay and exploration :)
in "france" plutôt in "Elsass" not french
Uhhhm are you danish by any chance? Or scandinavian? Not lnly because of your name but also the accent ;)
I am indeed :)
Hi Mads, have been to Strassbourg, Colmar, Riquewihr and Ribeauville I guess a week before you on our Tour de France. Just posted a Riquewihr close up today: twitter.com/jensassmann/status/900244233302532096
Keep up the good vids!
Hi Jens, cool shot :) Those are such beautiful towns!
I'll keep it up :)
