- When I posted my 3-Body Problem video, I wasn't aware some people would be 'click baited' into expecting Eric Schlappi's triple VCO and being seriously disappointed when they found it was about three Plaits making chaos. It was inspired by the Netflix series, and I wanted to translate the astronomical problem to audio. I would never clickbait anybody unless there's a red arrow on the thumbnail, courtesy of Red Means video tutorials.
Obviously, I also got intrigued by the THREE BODY module as I was making this video. So getting one was inevitable.
To the people who were disappointed, I still believe the 3B can't beat three Plaits simply because 3P would be a triple macro VCO where each one can do tons of stuff including 6-OP FM, grains, resonators, drums, etc. But that's my honest personal opinion and since it's episode 01, it can still change. There WILL be an episode where they're going to do a friendly competition.
Wow! Amazing sound and performance! Love it!
A crazy module! It can compose an entire musical production on his own, I'm sure he will be a permanent protagonist in your works!
Thank you for more than a nice view into the lawless wasteland of Eurorack. Riding the Threebody right through!
I've been waiting for the cinematic treatment of the module!
Flipping heck, this is deeeep. Thanks for yet another temptation..... 😮😊
One of my favorite modules
The transition at 2:56 caught me pleasantly off-guard. Well done. ❤🔥
Thanks for sharing. That's my 259 series video theme :)
You've tamed this beast; bravo!
😄Do a Yoko Ono patch in the future.
😜 well, you did it right this time!! of course, I know there is no right or wrong in this rabbit hole hobby.
FINALLY someone else speaking truths about the new 259 (261e is what it’s called now )
Been saying it’s digital for years
Most of the “e” stuff is .. I think the Quad Dynamic Manager is analog still… I think
The 259e is my dream oscillator, but it's $1800. The 261e is more classic, more like the old 259. It's using a digital sine core for stability. Some people are holding on to the past, while the past has moved on. It takes eurorack a few decades to catch up with Buchla. It will take a smarter 'bus' so modules can communicate and share settings with a preset manager.
wow. no wonder I listen to docs on space and quantum physics before falling asleep, if this is the philosophy of some eurorack companies 🙃😍
Hey there! Great to have your take on it!
Agreed
You make it sound good. Ive heard many demos that did not impress
@@gladlawson61 It sounds even better after a few months. Coming soon!
I've been checking out this module on UA-cam vfor a bit, but never found it very interstate until THIS. Wow! Thank you.
I’m still new enough to modular that gear like this scares me- not because I don’t understand it (though that’s part of it), but because I know I’ll never be able to make anyone else understand it. It does look like crazy fun though…
Thanks .. looking forward to "more, later" .. wow, what a beast. This is making me consider getting a 2nd Plaits, to experience some of this kind of thing.
One of the best modules ever and each boundary adds operators
12:27 So what ere the examples of "dirty analog stereo filters to give it some more grit and depth"?
I think the Doepfer A121 will sound amazing with it. But it was a figure of speech. Instruo's i047 wll also do wonders. Or a Blades clone with the extra analog drive.
A pair of schlappi engineering 100 grits. I have one, I need another.😂
I am still unaware of the Schlappi catalog, BTW, so i can't name any good alternatives here. So +1 on @simonjgeorge's comment.
@@CinematicLaboratory I think you need a boundary and a 100 grit or two to complement the three body. Schlappi Engineering is something special.
@@jherekco I've contacted Eric and we may be working together in a near or far future. I'd love to support his work. I think I'd love that Angle Grinder too.
Wonderful video
Wow, that was fast! ❤
I hope I did not disappoint. Introductions are always a bit all over the place, and personally I don't like to make raw VCO videos. Looking forward to learning its secrets.
You did a great job considering you recorded this just after the unboxing 😅
The cinematic transition at 3:13 from the planets to the module is genius (like the 🦴 to 🚀 scene in Kubricks 2001 A Space Odyssey) and I liked the simple atmospherics patch emerging from the noise at 8:07.
The harmonics of the three body sound great even without filtering and only little reverb.
Your videos are a joy to watch.
