Thanks. This is my second escape. The 2.0 eco (No lift, in driveway) was always a pain to get that front skirt on after. I'm changing the 2016 1.6 today. This was a big help to visualize where the filter is. My just jack up that left side after I drain oil, so I can do filter. Local Atl shop wants $80-100 for semi-syn. Or, I can dyi w full syn and good filter for 25. Thanks man.
UPDATE: if it helps anyone. I used the oil pliers instead of strap wrench. Factory filter crushed/bent w the amount of force I had to use to get it off. So pinched it and got it spinning. My hands are about the same, and that's a bitch in the driveway. But got it all done. I swear car runs better. 10k miles may have been too long. Oil was black. Replaced w good syn oil and filter. It is smoother. Skirt removal in driveway is def better to start removing from rear first. Then start front to back to replace. Thanks again.
The engine oil to use for this SUV is Motorcraft SAE 5W-20. THE Capicity is 4.3quarts/4.1L. OR you can use Valvoline 5W-20 motor oil from Walmart make sure it has the (for gasoline engine american certified) logo on it. Do not overfill with a full 5quart just 4quarts
That oil filter location is a joke. When you remove the filter the oil is dripping all over the place. Then you need finger-gymnastics to get the filter out of there. I also have a problem with the bottom cover screws stripping out the plastic mounting holes.
@@raulbruno8901 I recently had a mechanic take off the cover/shroud and it only had 5 screws(30). What am I missing because I see more empty holes without screws.
If you take it to an oil change place that will do it in a jiffy, there will only be two bolts holding the engine cover up. If you take it to a Ford dealer they won't even tighten the engine cover bolts up and it will fall off like my son- in- law's did. And people wonder why others change their own oil !!!!!!!

oconprop oil filter pliers word good to I try not to use ours cuz they almost cut it open when it turns lol
They could of put the filter in an easier spot! Don't take off the hose underneath the filter it's an antifreeze hose.
Where can you get full synthetic, a filter, and an oil drip pan for $25?
The only vid on UA-cam I could find that showed where and how to get to the filter on this vehicle. Thanks!
Bruce Jandrey your welcome
If you are jacking it up on the ground also make sure you have your emergency brakes on too for extra security

Totsiya's Review lol definitely make sure of that valvoline. We actually use valvoline for our synthetic blend oils.
13 mm is a little bigger than 1/2", that's why the wrench is a little loose.
Do you need to remove the engine shell?

Good work
Can you advise on the size of the screw that I need for the cover? I recently lost one and need a replacement. Thanks

My 2015 Ford Escape Titanium with tow package takes 5 1/4 quarts. I don't know about the other models,
