Watching Seths draft back his lane looked rakdos. In pack 2 he passed 4 key black cards after the brissley bill. There was also several deserts and payoffs. I think there was definitely enough resource pack 2 to move away from red as your core.
According to MTG ELO project, Seth's draft win rate (across Pro Tours and GPs) is 62.0 %. For reference Luis's is 64.1%, #25 of all time. However, looking at only pro tour drafts Seth's win rate rises to 65.2%.
In terms of getting better at something, there are great resources about the science of "motivation" (aka accomplishing a goal) that I've found helpful when I'm struggling to consistently execute a plan to improve something.
I am feeling the question about improving. Just made my second top 8 and blew the first match which I had in the bag, on a misplay. Missed the $500 my second chance to cash Arena Open again on a tiny misplay, blinking first. I need to build more endurance in a long demanding tournament. Luckily my testing team is a tougher field than an RCQ.
Looking at that draft table, I believe the others were drafting (going right from Seth): GW, GW, GB, RB, UW, GU, GR. I'm not counting splashes here, and there were several. So Seth was heavily cut off from Green from both sides, heavily cut off White in packs 1 & 3. Rough lane!
Since you wonder each episode what the deal with Big Score is, I'll explain: BIG wasn't meant to be played in limited. It was designed as a standard legal mini set like MOM Aftermath. However, WotC killed that idea at the last minute since Aftermath was a big flop. So they had to find a way for players to get these standard legal cards somehow, and they smacked them into OTJ boosters.
Sleeper card of the set: metamorphic blast. Twice now my opponent has cast Back For More only to have his big dumb creature turn into a 0/1 bunny and die fighting one of my outlaws. I'm loving this low to the ground, interactive dimir archetype.
But it just goes to show the value of playing flexibly - he couldve had the Derailment and the Bill in his deck and instead had an underwhelming Boros aggro deck
Blue and red are kind of support colors but they're totally fine if you get the right setup. I went 7-1 recently with a go-wide red/white "outlaw" deck where my rares were a path to exile and Hellspur Posse Boss. Deckbuilding and picking are very important in this format for this archetype. You just have to recognize you're the agro deck, so cards like the 2 mana destroy target attacking creature, or Pariah are actually kind of bad, since you are almost always the attacking player.
They are fine, but they have the most mediocre cards so you have to get a bit luckier to have a great deck, whereas basically every green card is awesome.
Watching Seth's draft live my initial thoughts were those packs were just barren wastelands, there was just no power or great cards to pick regardless good on him for going 6-2
In defense of the arnyx pick p1p1 it's better than derailment, white is better than red and he might splash or just leave the dragon in the sideboard. Also, boros fits both the dragon and Seth and cutting white instead of red makes sense. Had it worked, it would've been genius. In hindsight it was just a bad pick 😃
@@cotty666 Ah, gotcha. I still don't think it really helps to look at it that way though because that's not what's actually happening. He does have the Dragon, so I don't understand immediately picking a second color when there's a perfectly fine red card to take. Seth is on another planet than me in skill level though, so what do I know? Lol.
Has anyone seen Marshall’s watch channel? Dude is a low key legend in that community, glad he still makes time for MTG.
He got 10 mil views on one video... Nuts. It a nice video as well!
Seriously though I can't find the link to his channel for the life of me, can anybody point me towards it?

Intimidation Campaign is the spell that taught me how much 3 mana really is
For me, it was Mana Leak. 3 might as well be a thousand.
I would LOVE to see some Winston cube drafts on Luis's main channel!

Now I wanna see vods where you do Winston cube drafts.
How to win with blue? Cast Bonny Pall.
גיים לוס לאלמוג
Hope to be UB. UG UW UR are pretty bad (outside of bomb piles).
People say Bonny is balanced... Balanced against what? A nuclear weapon?
@@wesleydolsen what? you dont like 13+ power + draw a card on two bodies at 6 mana?
@@almogdov and people still unironically say "dies to removal". Even though it's 2 bodies which both have relevant abilities
If I’m esper and pack 3 I open a Bristly Bill then I’m now 4 colors.

Im with LSV, I kept expcting to see Randy. Its crazy how much Mani sounds like him.

I love this card too! The draw 2 spree option isnt bad either, 3 for 1 on a good day if you use both modes. I have used it in WU no spell too
Love Winston draft! My local playgroup is so small that it often doesn't support at least five players, so then Winston is the saving grace ;)
LSV, I don't know if you read these comments, but I would love to see a 1v1 Winston draft on your channel! That sounds like a lot of fun
The insomniacs are thriving tonight 🎉
I love the Armadillo. It's great in white decks that aren't necessarily looking to aggro out.
The biggest gains I made in most things, came from specifically looking for the mistakes I made.
He wanted to play the dragon as fast possible so somehow he instantly chose to go for cheap Boros two drops maybe.
But it just goes to show the value of playing flexibly - he couldve had the Derailment and the Bill in his deck and instead had an underwhelming Boros aggro deck
So red is really bad? No wonder people passed me two Terror of the Peaks in one draft.. (went 5-3)

It was pack one pick two, his pack one pick one was the red dragon. That's why derailment was a better pick for pick two.
@@Journeyman2585 I meant if you disregard already having the dragon (bc he might not play it since red is weak etc), than you can view it as pick1.

@@cotty666 You don't disregard your P1P1 on pick two, hence the issue.
