The Sino-Japanese war is a very sensitive issue with Chinese people & oftentimes the area must be tred delicately when voicing opinion, that's all. In China, celebrities who offended the older generation (such as one who wore a Japanese-flag dress; and another who stupidly asked, how long was the war?) were often physically & verbally attacked & boycotted etc.

I donot think so. there are many actress better than Changziyi in Japan. you know Kimono?at least, many japanese actress look more charmin' than her in Kimono. and I think the Japanese actess will have the real introspection about this role in the movie. why not you say --no japanese deriction is internationally as popular as Cheung YImou? there are countless great actress in the world, but Cheung Ziyi just a lucky devil.

If your grandparents or parents were killed during Japanese invasion, you would not call those trifles. Actually if that was the case, you could not be born and make a fuss here. Go visit museums in Nanjing and learn some real WWII history. Dont be just young and naïve.
