    hi OneAuto, I'm planning to do my very first clutch job on my MK2 2.0L ford focus... Honestly seems like a hard job. I have a few questions if you're alright with answering:
    1. Am I able to do this without a hoist and just some floor jacks to lift the car up? If so, would two in the front be completely fine?
    2. At 9:00, when you were removing the passenger side drive shaft and you removed the boot instead, should mine be normally able to just be pulled out without removing the boot?
    3. Is that automatic ratchet essential? Or can I do fine with just my normal ratchet.
    4. Am I able to use a jack to hold the engine instead of an engine support bar?
    I await your response, if you choose to help out! Thanks a lot for the video, these are just small questions to ease my mind into getting the job done.

    You can get a softwood beam to support your engine; cheaper than one of those supports that sit on the sides of the wings. then get some chain to wrap around the engine, and a nut and bolt to do up the chain. Did my fusion like this 3 years ago. Probably need to tie the beam up from the back either side to stop it moving. eric the car guy has a video of doing a focus mk1, and he didnt use a lift.

    Hi rob just had my clutch replaced yesterday as it was slipping, but today my wife has driven the car, and something happened with the gearbox where it wont go into gear. It has been mentioned by my father in law, that it can be common following clutch change, with either air in the gearbox or something to do with a 'clip' of some kind. Any ideas from you would be much appreciated!

    Think the pressure plate was causing the slipping of the clutch because the friction plate was not worn down to the rivet's, pressure plate having weakened also uneven loading.

    Nice detailed video, what I was looking for when you test drive the car. I've had my clutch changed 3yrs ago and covered only about 20k. Suddenly clutch biting point gone high,next day struggled going into gear & started over revving! One garage said maybe because I didn't change the slave cylinder when I got clutch done has caused this and will need to do full kit. I'm baffled as it was a genuine ford clutch any ideas?

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 років тому

    Guys I have a problem. When I changed the clutch set + slave cylinder - the clutch pedal started to feel hard, and then soft, and then hard again. Even after bleeding the air out. I got a Comline clutch and after 5000miles the clutch's pressure plate broke and I changed a brand new LUK set. Also changed the master cylinder just in case. Still same. Sometimes the pedal is soft, sometimes it is hard. Also, it is hard when it lets the pedal go, something like the clutch is sticking? It shouldn't be like that with an OEM part. I am really mad.

    Yikes. Thats pretty cooked.
    You know i've done quite a few Mk1 1.6 petrols, but i've yet to do a Mk2 focus. Its so nice to do with a lift as opposed to lying on some cardboard... My method of supporting the engine from above involves a large frame made of 2x4's. I don't have one of those nice rails. He manning gear boxes in and out isn't exactly fun either...

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 років тому

      Yep it was toast. Customer said it was a driving school car before he had it so it's seen some action. The MK2 is pretty much the same job as the MK1 so you'll have no bother. Sod laying on the cardboard. I'm too old for that now!

I've got a 56 plate with the same 1.6 engine, however if you can familiarise yourself with the leaky area around the sump at 7:27 - have you ever came across this before on these models? Mine has a leak of some kind which has trailed in the same spot, it doesn't look recent and may of happened in some point in the past but my local garage for now have cleaned the area & just said to let it develop and see if it worsens as to them it doesn't look like engine oil and does not drip onto the ground either. They reckon it may be escaped gearbox oil but I just wanted your opinion first before I take it any further with shelling out for replacement seals, gaskets and the like. Many thanks :)
