No matter how wrong the WHO, the CDC, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and others have been on their predictions and pronouncements, Twitter and others never block or fact-check them. Instead, they censor scientists and doctors who dare think differently. Just look at this:
Actual scientific data on the seasonal flu from CDC:
      2017-2018 - 45 Million cases (187,500 per day average for 240 day season), 810,000 Hospitalizations, 61,000 deaths.
      2018-2019 - 35.5 Million cases (147,916 per day average for 240 day season), 490,600 Hospitalizations, 34,200 deaths.
      2019-2020 - 38 Million cases (158,333per day average for 240 day season), 405,000 Hospitalizations, 22,000 deaths.
For the seasonal flu, we didn't have cases as 24-hour coverage; daily sad stories on the nightly news; front-page coverage of deaths, especially of young people; free test sites around the country; testing of people with no symptoms; or unlimited coverage at hospitals with no payments from the patients. We did not require masks, did not require social distancing, did not have contact tracing, and did not destroy the economy. We also had shots to prevent people from getting the ordinary seasonal flu.
As for COVID, never before have we counted heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, and multiple other causes as caused by the flu or swine flu if the victims happened to have these conditions. It is clearly a political or agenda-based decision to change the cause of death to COVID to goose the statistics. That will throw off historical averages on all other causes of death.

@@larryross1819 well fauci, at least, has fact checked himself..admitting that his recommendations have changed as his knowledge has changed. He looks at changing data. I really havent followed the WHO or CDC that closely. There are people who think differently, true, but they don't have the majority of data to back them...touying small studies that have not been replicated by anyone else.

"The single-minded pursuit of happiness, with happiness equated with wealth and power, creates a population consumed by anxiety and self-loathing. Few achieve the imagined pinnacle of success, and those who do are often psychopaths. Building a society around these goals is masochistic. It shuts down any desire for self-knowledge because the truth of our lives is unpleasant. We fill the spiritual vacuum with endless activities, entertainment and nonstop electronic hallucinations. We flee from silence and contemplation. We are determined to avoid facing what we have become."

Exactly. If there was ever a time for us to adopt some socialist measures like Universal Health Care and paying everybody who can to stay home until there's a vaccine this is the time. It seems like the people who most loudly identify as pro-life are most against incorporating these types of measures that would save so many lives. Makes no sense unless you think of it as a Freudian defense mechanism to defend against the fact that they're not pro-life at all but really pro-death.

The hatred of expertise is one of our problems. "There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge' " - Asimov.

I live in GERMANY in the winter, and Germany has handled this MUCH better, not because their doctors, hospitals, etc are better but Because Frau Merkel was their leader and is a scientist and not that vile, ignorant Trump. Also most average Germans are better educated and informed than their counterparts in the US. I am in Italy in our summer home and feel very safe. We live in a rural area with an isolated house, but everybody here wears a mask, everybody! The south of Italy is a different story! Sadly.

I also remember hearing a lot about social duty in the US Army, the US Civil Service, and even within some corporate environments, albeit that was long ago, and those corps are also mostly defunct or globalized beyond recognition. Then there was Boomer TV, which had all kinds of programming for social duty, from Leave It To Beaver, to Mr. Rogers. So people are/were talking, only few were listening, apparently.

Dr Christakis hit the nail on the head when he called for people to behave more maturely. There has been a lot of discussion over quite a long period of time now about how there has been an infantilising of quite a lot of people in western societies, particularly in the US.
This was, at first, only identified as being in younger generations but this turned out to be a false premise and this infantilisation seems to have affected people of all generations and ages. Not all people, of course, but enough to cause concern.
Now, with the pandemic, the petulant, self entitled and selfish ethos that seems to have taken a hold of too many people of all ages is proving to be extremely problematic and life threatening.
I really don't know if there's a universal answer to this problem especially when there are those who actively encourage this for their own ends. It will be a slow road back, if this can be turned around.

The problem is that there will always be the "needy" tail so they will be sacrificed or deemed valueless or expendable - particularly in wars. Robert McNamara was aware of this in the Vietnam War era and sent "dumb kids" to their deaths. The hope I have is because people like this are informing the public .
    Thank you for this interview.
I think part of the problem is that some of our populus are distrustful of intellectualism and the present administration reflects and leads that part of the cultural divide.
Another one of the aspects of this pandemic is that it brings to the fore the improvements our country needs to make.
The educational system included along with medical care, equality, racism, environmental and political improvements must be analyzed and implemented.
We will no doubt succeed and yet there is a great storm before the calm.
Again thank you ,this interview is inspiring.

Americans only have one true freedom and that is to vote- why that is why we have the government that we voted in. “ band together” is the concept that Citizens fail at.
