The mysterious Halo ODST Fangroup was most likely the 405th infantry division. A worldwide Halo costume and prop fan group. I am a part of that group for a few years now, great people no matter from where the members are. We gave our costumes and props to a fanfilm recently, called "a heroes journey" so if you want to do a halo fanfilm special someday this would be worth checking out. They had real professionals on the team, some even worked on the halo series as well.
It always baffles me when filmmakers go "We're gonna adapt this thing with millions of fans and write the story in a way to be a completely different thing."
I've gone back and watched it again, first during the middle of the podcast and again afterwards, and there's just something I can't entirely put my finger on that breaks the immersion with certain shots in the trailer? Specifically around the 10:30 mark of the video with the 3 ODST and then the leap across. Like, how the person holding the shotgun turns? It feels weirdly videogamey, especially on the leap. Maybe its the lighting? Something about the lighting in the shot with the leap from behind, specifically at 10:34, like the bloom on the reflections on the person makes it feel like its actually just a cutscene being rendered on the 360 or Xbox One, and not a high-end 2023 Puget workstation. I think if you guys spent time on polishing how the lighting is done for some shots, especially interiors because I had no problems with the exterior shots, I think it would elevate what we've been shown so far. Like, the 10:30 shot really just looks like a random clip from Reach or something. If that was the aim then great, but I feel like it could be.... more complex. Something about the lighting or whatever it is that's bothering me. The 3 person shot really does feel like its a game render from 2010. Maybe its the textures? It doesn't help that there was just a beautiful shot in the field with smoke outside just before it cuts to interiors where it suddenly looks like a videogame. Maybe its the models? I dunno maybe its youtube compression?? I can't figure it out. It doesn't feel rooted and breaks the illusion. Its otherwise an awesome trailer and I look forward to the full thing. These are just really nitpicky things I noticed the second and third time watching the trailer, definitely didn't care about whether or not it looked one way or another the first time because its cool.
As a massive Halo fan I can't wait to see what you all come up with. Also I just want to mention an animator called Sodaz has been making a Halo 3D animation as well, can't wait for more Halo from the community that loves it.
7:18 I mean Jordan, you can really just switch and it's not gonna cost you any money lol. There are already masters you have access to Like Peter and Fennar and with geometry nodes and upcoming everything nodes in Blender, it's closer to Houdini than any other program while having the box modeling and sculpting, the destructive workflow that Houdini lacks and it's free lol. A lot of indie studios in EU and Asia have switched to a Blender + Houdini + Nuke workflow and it's damn fast and modern and efficient.
The Last of Us show does an interesting thing where they cut a lot of the filler gameplay moments of, zombies zombies raiders raiders. There hasn't really been encounters of fodder enemies and they dive deep into lore and drama. Tons of extra story in the game is told through collectibles or logs you don't have to look at, so using things like that in the show and expanding/changing them a bit just doesn't miss a beat.
I'm a few days late to this ep but I'm really excited to see where this project goes! Thanks for helping expand the Halo lore (unofficially) It's cool to hear that 343 is talking about it internally. Also cool to get to know Jonah better too, anyone else feel like he and Fenner look like they could be related?
So I had an issue with the app all day, then had to work, then work some more, so needless to say I have been waiting for this podcast and couldn't be any more excited. I'm supposed to be headed to bed, but I'm watching this whole thing through, I wanna hear every word (paused the video to write this lol). I love all you guys, but I'm feeling this group right here. Jon-ner and my dude Mr. E. Meats over there (hah?), and Dean, get's a shout out. I watched you learning blender while learning blender. Was pretty cool to watch you go through your journey and I paid close attention to things that you'd ask hehe. Big love, lots of meat, and all praise the sack... damn, i just said that out loud... anyhow, can't wait to see the Halo short, but if we're being honest Jonah and Fenner, I'm looking more forward to the breakdowns and bts stuff hah! KEEP CROOOOOOOSHIN IT KEDDDDD
The worst part of the paramount fanfiction show is how 343/Microsoft allowed them to continue making a second season, *despite the backlash it got from every single Halo fan* "If we lose our way with Halo, we lose our way with xbox" Phil Spencer does not give a rat-shit about the *quality* of modern Halo and it goes to show Thank you Fenner, and the entirety of Corridor, for going through with your Halo project.
Here's my theory. The base had a sample of the flood in cold storage, trying to study it in order to reverse engineer it. But someone messed up, and woke the "specimen" and now the survivors are trying to hide until rescue arrives.
If you think saying the Ipad would never sell is a bad prediction. A journalist mate once stated Apple were stupid to get into the phone market & the iPhone would never sell. But I can top both of those. The games company I was with had a Hungarian division in the 1980's & they brought in a game from Russia that at the time used character based graphics another mate at the company suggested redoing it in primary & florescent colors so they did & then they sold the console licence to Nintendo meanwhile I was poo-pooing it & I stated it would never sell Take a wild guess what that game was? It was like turning down the Beatles!!
the mjolnir armor has no weight in the show, there's a scene where one of the Spartans takes off their helmet and it squishes in because it's soft. When they run around the armor doesn't move like it's made of metal so it kind of takes me out of it. The visuals on the covenant weapons looked amazing, so did the forerunner tech. The spartan suits didn't visually look bad, it was just the physics around it that didn't feel right
Very inspiring gentleman. I also want to make a halo cgi film in spite of that terrible halo tv show. I took a lot of notes watching this and the other vid. So thanks you very much. Also my prediction is the ODST squad will stumble apon the Flood.
I'm sorry I suggested that Spartans or MC should save the day at the end of this project. Was just my opinion on a way to bring in that side of fan service without the story needing to focus on MC or Spartans.
Trash talking the official show doesn't seem like the best way to avoid copyright issues with a grounded (non parody/satire) fan-film. Handled with a bit more nuance in the Corridor Crew video.
Good to see Fenner appearing more and more on the show, the talent he brings to Corridor is amazing!
Hearing someone saying “I grew up watching this channel” will never not be a weird thing to hear someone say for me
Jordan's origin story to become the Joker. "it was supposed to be tragic, and they all Laughed!"
Fenner is a really cool and talented guy...good to see him doing a big project!
He worked for Weta digital also

Good comment but the non-destructive* workflow you mean. ;)
Corridor does what nintendon’t
Corri-do ;)
I'm so glad I discovered these podcasts, they are a blast to listen to while working.

This is hot fire for anyone in the trenches creating full blender scenes. Great hearing from others who are in the weeds of things too

Can't wait for the Good Halo series to drop. Super excited to see it. Keep up the amazing work! ^ - ^
Whenever Dean brings up Spider-Man 2, it brings up such a huge smile to my face
Love the quality of the hola short!
I watched Overlord with a friend in the theater with no context, and it was the best experience ever.
Why do you all sing so well together? Start a quartet already.

I havent listened in so long, but Halo brings us all back

I'm so excited about this short
When do you think the fan film will be done? I can’t wait for it
Someone should send this through some epic reverb
I just noticed JC in the background haha
DAMMNNNN WHAT AN OPENNING BROOOO
FUCKINGGGG NAILLLED IT
Excited to hear about this ‼️
When can I dump my green light points for this?
Thank you, i always say i don't need Epic and Worldending events in stuff to be entertained. Quite the opposite most of the times.
Yes
Wow! you guys have been practicing XD

I love this! 10/10

this is so insane
What brand of Bone Conduction headphones do the Corridor folks uses?
_"RAYCON ~!"_
Imagine if 343/Halo Studios had any intelligence and recruited these guys to head a Halo animated series.
My movie prediction: ODST base with a lot of secrets covanent looking to capture it and in the process release the flood.
Best of luck to you guys but you don't really need it when you are chasing skill mastery so hard.
Mark Hamil's gonna call you guys out again haha

Magical video.
What's Landfall?
When is the next update? It’s been four months now. Is there any new word on this?
I want this .
Way more excited for this than the trash that Paramount gave us even before it came out
I would pay to see a halo movie done right lmao
I found the Master Chief removing his helmet and its another helmet meme Dean was talking about @30:30 ua-cam.com/video/EAOo8nE8_Jg/v-deo.html
MEATMAN!
Meat man sounds pretty similar to nightman/day man from sunny 🤔 they must’ve stole it from you guys
I'm sorry I suggested that Spartans or MC should save the day at the end of this project. Was just my opinion on a way to bring in that side of fan service without the story needing to focus on MC or Spartans.
Human factions are a very part of the overall halo story. I think it was just very poorly done in the halo show.
Where's Master Chief? A 'Halo' movie with no Master Chief is trash.
Completely false
@jeffw773 Master Chief is the heart and soul of Halo. Without Chief, it's not Halo. Why do you think Halo 5 was so widely hated. No Chief, no Halo.
wait these guys think the mandalorian is good :|
