RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first player to collect six cheese slices. Give each player 1 slice of cheese. Place two slices of cheese on the start space. The first player to make it all the way around the board collects these two bonus cheese pieces. Put the remaining pieces of cheese next to the board. Each player picks a token and places it on start. Pick a player to go first then play proceeds clockwise. On your turn roll the die and move your token exactly that many spaces clockwise around the board.
If you land on the blue launched the trap space pick one player and move their token to the trap space then pull back on the stop sign and release. If the player gets caught in the trap then they give you one of their cheeses. If the trap fails for any reason, they don’t give you any cheese. If there is already a mouse on the trap space then you may still send another mouse there and if the trap succeeds, you get a cheese from all the trapped players. After the trap has stopped, reset the trap by returning the ball, diver, and cage to their original positions and rotating the broom up.
If you land on a yellow cheese space collect one cheese from the cheese pile. If you land on a green steal space you may take one cheese from any other player. If you land on a red lose a cheese space then you must return one of your cheeses to the pile. If you land on a purple space then nothing happens. if you land on a mouse hole tunnel space, then you may if you want to travel through the tunnel to the space on the other end.
The first player to collect 6 cheese pieces an make a complete cheese circle, wins!

I THOUGHT PEOPLE FORGOT THIS GAME WHAT???
The version I have plays differently than this. In that version, you build the trap as you go, and try to be the last mouse not caught in the trap.

What happens when a trap has completed and reset? Does the mouse that was trapped get to move away from the trap position? Or do they have to sit there until their turn to move?
They stay until their next turn.
Do the trapped mouse start from that spot on their next turn?

My 3yr old boy lost the ball before we started. Can't find any marble that can successfully complete the trap !
Don't lose the ball. 😓
Send the manufacturer an email. They're usually pretty good with replacing lost pieces with proof of purchase or at least S&H

Mousetrap is a great board game to play, even with the pieces of contraptions are useful.

I remember my cousin having this game. Thanks for the reminder of how that game was played. I was about 5 or 6 and I just remember being fascinated about all the contraptions.

My sister and me were playing with my cousin but my sister thought that if the trap fails I still have to give her one cheese and I got proof from this but she still didn’t believe me and my cousin😢

If a mouse/player occupies a space and u are moving across it, would u count the occupied space or skip it the same as if it were the last space in your move sequence?
Why would they not get caught under the space that’s what I don’t get? They’re always going to get caught

This isn't what I had in the 80s but glad that the game is still around and reinventing itself. Love the idea I can go to the store and get my kid the games I loved when I was little
Can't remember but does the trap fall every time or was there something the kept it from falling other than person's ability to set up the trap perfectly
