- People ask me 'how did you recover from long covid?'. I had long covid for six months, and I'm now back to the same fitness I had before I got covid, I'm sharing this in the hope that it will help people in their recovery from long covid.
Serafina

In hopes this will help other people as well:
Okay so after 3 months of those symptoms I now feel almost back to normal mostly. What I felt like had the most effect:
- Vitamin D3+K2
- electrolyte drinks - no sugar( most importantly magnesium and potassium ) with a little protein powder mixed within and hawthorn extract against the heart palpitations
- Coenzyme Q10 + B Vitamins
- Low to medium carbohydrate diet and MOST IMPORTANTLY ( I feel like ) intervall fasting ( in 18h/6h rhythm )! So just a meal for lunch and not too late in the evening so your body starts metabolizing the defective cells for energy, rarely minor snacks inbetween when i couldnt help my cravings.
In addition to that: Ginger & green teas after lunch and dinner ( watch out for high caffeine green teas, dont drink those ) and ayuverdic Golden Milk before going to bed ( organic cinnamon, tumeric, ginger and pepper powders simmered in milk )
Thanks for sharing 😃 and I'm glad you're almost back to normal! 💗
Hey this sounds stupid but you sound smart and I need help… I’ve had it for a year well over and I’m not the same person I once was…what do I do?
@@ronaldlongfellow87 so sorry to hear that 😞 just don't give up, try everything you can to build up your immune system, get your body strong, but you've probably already done that?
@@ronaldlongfellow87 Hey Ronald go to a natural Dentis and do a 3D XRay. Maybe you have a chronic tooth issue. And if you have Rootcanalfillings get the tooth out they harm you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, thank you Serafina!!! I have had long COVID for 2 months and could hardly stay out of bed. I researched high and low for help and found no suggestion that helped me...until I saw this video that you made. I purchased a high protein sports recovery powder and took it twice daily as you suggested. In 5 days I was feeling on the top of my game!! Thank you!
Yay!! That's wonderful to hear 😍 thanks for the update!! 💓💪
Can’t thank you enough!! Seriously. I had Covid and couldn’t barely cope, was taking every supplement you could think of. Then I found this video and thought I’d try it, what’s the worst that could happen? Well omg I started taking protein powder and I’m back to my old self, I could cry. So thank you X million ❤
Yay!! I'm so happy to hear this!! 😍 Thanks for letting me know 💓
does it matter which protein powder or how much??
What protein powder did you use? Plant based? whey protein? with or without amino acids? with MCT in it?
Thanks.
I've tried a milk based brand, but it didn't work for me, so I just went back to the Inc. brand
I use the Inc. brand as in the video, it was the cheapest one in the shop at the time, but it's been amazing. I've tried one other with milk in it, but it didn't feel the same.
Originally I had it blended with water, oats, banana, chia seeds, but now I just have it on it's own with water
Thank you so much for posting this, been trying protein powder for a week now and it's made a huge difference. My symptoms began 5 months after my parents forced me to get the "thing", long before i ever caught covid. Severe shortness of breath, couldn't exercise for 2 years, had to stop working full time and go part time, i was getting chest pain daily and was so out of breath i felt sick in my stomach, even cycling home slowly. I read the South African long covid study and tried the blood thinners, within days it significantly improved my health, i went from feeling 60% back to 85%. I was able to start running again about once or twice a week. But if i pushed it too much, the breathlessness would come back for a day or 2 and i'd have to rest. But now with this protein powder, i've already done 2 runs this week and feel great, like 95%, gonna try a 3rd run tomorrow. Thank you so much for this video, i had run out of things and supplements to try.
Wonderful to hear 😍 how did you go with your third run?
@TheFlyingScotzman. What protein powder did you use?
Gotta say this does the trick exactly! I had the same symptoms, tried your protein shake solution and feel so much better. Thanks for your help, Serafina!
Woohoo! This is wonderful to hear 😃 thanks for sharing your results 🤗💗
I had Covid 3 times since last February in between all of that I got colds and viruses. It’s been 18 months and I am suffering with this fatigue and weakness. Like you, the first time I got it I was extremely weak and fatigued, and I could barely move, or bring myself to even go to the bathroom. Once I recovered I had Covid rebound two weeks later and ever since then I’ve been dealing with this fatigue and weakness. Although I can get to 80% better some days, I never exceed that. And during my period all of the Covid symptoms that I had come back with a vengeance. I honestly can’t take this much longer. I haven’t felt myself for over a year and I don’t even know what it feels like to be normal, I’m going to try this protein since my neurologist did say high-protein diet will heal you thank you and please let me know if there’s anything else that you did
I really feel for you 💓 please let me know how you go with the protein 🤞 I was doing other things ie extra vitamin D, all the usual things people suggest, but the only thing that made a difference was the sports protein powder. The brain fog went away, the fatigue went away, my resilience came back... I came back!
Give us an update please
Hi! I’m still fatigued unfortunately but exercise and building up is key. Pacing is key as well. I’ve seen a wonderful neurologist, and a rheumatologist as well. I had all blood work done everything checked. So that’s another thing to do. I am now in physical therapy to work on my fatigue to slowly build strength. I definitely recommend doing all of this because there is help. Also eating a very clean Mediterranean diet is highly recommended!!!
@@CyclewithSerafinal am so glad of your recovery. Long covid is hell. I am suffering with muscle and nerve pain all over.Covid cough and stinging eyes still remain aswell. Did you feel even after the infection tested negative that the virus was still in your body and your body was still fighting it.
@@colinsmith1288 yes, I did, it felt like it took a while for it to go away, even though I was functioning again, even now I can sense the remains of it sometimes, but I am strong, fit healthy, and it's not debilitating in any way. I hope you get to that stage too 💓💪
0:49 Same thing I've been struggling with the past 2 months. Will definitely try it out, thank you
Edit: Did some more research, to anyone reading this: Try the protein powder PLUS a daily dosage of electrolytes and plantbased supplements that are beneficial for blood circulation. Also try supplementing some magnesium ( not too much ), Vitamin C, all B vitamins, zinc and selenium, the latter few helped a lot with my dysautonomia.
Good health to everyone
thanks for sharing 🥰
So the protein powder helped you?
@@mindymontez9013 100% yes... before I took the protein powder I had fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath etc... within 2 days (less) of taking it the fatigue was gone, my brain was working, then it was just a matter of building up my fitness again. I started riding and didn't need to take a week to recover anymore, I could get back out on the bike again the next day
@@mindymontez9013 Definitely feel a little more energetic already - and it makes sense to me because usually protein powder also has some essential aminoacids mixed within that are building blocks to every cell in your body. So it basically helps your damaged cells regenerate faster.
If you have severe dysautonomia/MCAS symptoms like me, try the electrolyte drinks ( no sugar ), probiotics so your body can absorb all the nutrients better, anti-histamin stuff like lorathadin or cetirizin which are anti allergy pills essentially, supplement 150-200mg of Magnesium/day - dont do more than 400 per day including the electrolyte drink and meals - , Vitamin C depot supplements that slowly release over the day, high dosage Vitamin D, which is responsible for nerve & heart function to some degree, in combination with (normal dosage of ) Vitamin K2 which helps blood circulation because it makes your blood thinner ( if you take blood thickening or thinning medication already, dont do that of course ), Zinc & Selenium. Also try anti inflammatory teas, like ginger, tumeric etc
And last but not least, try to desensitize your autonomic nerve system again, by slowly starting to do some floor workouts, going shopping, etc etc
All the best for you
You can find some really helpful videos here on youtube by cardiologists, etc if you look for "long covid treatment/remedies" or something along those lines.

Glad you're feeling better! Have you experienced any covid reinfection or booster, and did it cause a flare-up or did you stay the same? Also curious what brand is that protein powder?
Hi Sam, thanks! no I haven't had any reinfection, also, I haven't had any vaccine or booster shots at all. This is the protein powder I'm using incsports.com.au/products/inc-plant-protein-vanilla/
Its on special for $20 at Chemist warehouse right now. I looked it up to see if it had BCAA's and it does, but not a huge amount. Aminos are so good to give you energy and recovery. My mum was on oxygen 24/7 and I gave her a multi amino. Her doctor asked her where she got her new found energy and she told the doc I gave her bodybuilding tablets. The doc thought I gave her steroids. When she found out it was aminos she started putting other elderly patients on them.
Yeah it's a really good price, that's why I got that one 😄 maybe it's the combination of aminos and protein? especially being really active and pushing the body, not sure of the science! but so glad your mum is feeling better too 😍 I had the same response, was like I was on steroids lol
@@CyclewithSerafina aminos are awesome have you ever had a vitamin B injection? If you haven't, ask your doc for one, amazing. Tablets don't get into your blood so you pee them out. Vitamin B into your blood is soooo good. I'm glad you feel better, you're a sweetheart. 😁
@@aussierednecksinger28 awww thank you! 😍 ...never had a vitamin b injection, sounds perfect just before going for a big hard ride! 🚴♂😁
I am currently suffering from long COVID. I’ve had it since September and there are days I feel like it’s going to be my last. I can barely breathe, the fatigue is overwhelming, the cough and shortness of breath is horrible. I tired of being sick! I will try a protein powder in hopes I get better. Thank you for letting me know about this. Definitely worth a try❤
I feel your pain! 😞 that's exactly what it was like for me, hang in there, it does get better 💗 let me know how you go with the protein powder, but try a sports protein powder as I think it's the combination of ingredients with the protein that helps. Sending healing hugs 🤗
@@CyclewithSerafina Will do! Thank you for the advice. Stay blessed💖
Any update on your health after trying protein?
@@rizzyknows Yes, the protein definitely made a difference, especially with my exhaustion. I had been on prednisone steroids several times with no results. My pulmonologist explained that sometimes prednisone works better in some people as a liquid injectable, so I was given that and it worked. But overall the protein shake made a big difference. I plan to continue it at least 2 or 3 times a week for life. However, keep in mind that the protein shake recommended was very high in protein. I plan to do a regular protein shake for life and not a high dose sports one.
@@butterflybaby429 I'm really glad to hear that I'm going to give it a go. What's really helped me with my exhaustion and energy levels is Hion Green Powder which is a mixture of approx 11 or so super foods and the days that I've been feeling low it gives me a real boost so I would definitely recommend that (from amazon) for you too.
Just been looking at the Essential Amino acids and what they are supposed to do and lysine combines with vitamin C to form L-Carnitine which allows cells to use oxygen more efficiently, delaying fatigue. So it is clear that this could help people. I just started on it and I do feel better. By the way the cheap protein powder you chose appears to have a good amino profile.
Interesting, it could be that the amino acids in this protein powder gave (give) me the energy, as you say, which enables me to cycle, thus having a flow-on effect of recovery and strength as my body moves more, activity is going to stimulate the body functioning better = healing and recovery
You also need Glutmain, Glycin and Cystein to produce your Glutathion,
In general I would recommend to take supplements for Glutathion production in general because its very important for your health and sports
@Hughman Being Thank you for your kind explanation. Could you please add what ingredients a protein powder I should look for to ensure it has this good amino profile and other things you have mentioned? Thank you!
@@inandouttv5365 Just look up the brand she uses in the video. It has a full spectrum of amino acids including the brached chain amino acids which are particularly helpful with inflammation I believe. to be fair most protein powders seem to be pretty good.
@@hughmanbeing1050 Thank you - it seems to be an Australian brand that is not easily available in America but I will give it another try. The good news is I tried a protein powder (Orgain Organic Protein) for about two days now and start feeling better after many weeks of misery. Slept for 9 hours last night and overall have more energy. I am also taking the vitamins cocktail: B1, B3, C, D, magnesium, selenium, zinc. Thanks a lot to Serafina for the suggestion!
Hiya serafina, so glad you found something that got you back to your usual self, do you think it could be the sugar in the powder that made you feel better and have more energy?? Just a thought 😀
It's got 0.1g of sugar in it 😁 so, nope! not the sugar. 1.4g of carbohydrates, so not that either. It does have a whole lot of plant protein in it though! 😄
It must be the plant protein then 💪👊get them guns flexed 🤣🤣
When I was poorly as a kid, my mum would buy me original lucozade in a tall glass bottle, and said the sugar in that will help me have more energy and feel better 🤣😂
@@stephennaylor6662 my mum would do the same!! but it was flat lemonade (without the bubbles) 😄
Hello Serafina... I'm on year 3 of long covid, man I feel like I've tried everything so far and nothing seems to be working for me. I came across your video today and I feel just an ounce of hope, I'll purchase this since like you said "what can it hurt"? , my Dr's have put me on all sorts of pharmaceutical drugs in the past 3 years to the point where I feel it's making me even worse but I was determined to try anything. I've been out of work for over 2 years now and like many never feel like myself anymore so heres to hoping. Just a quick question for you if you have the time? What do you put the powder in? Water? Smoothies? regular drinks? I'm not vegan but I'm cutting out almost all sugar from my diet but I'm still off balance almost every single day along with chronic fatigue. Thanks for doing this video i really appreciate it!
I would also like to know more - does it have to be this specific brand? how much and how often? mix with water or what? thanks in advance!
Hi Brad, sorry for the delay in replying! and I'm sorry to hear you have been dealing with this for three years 😥 I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it's a silent destroyer of life and, unless you've experienced, you can't understand the psycological, physical, and emotional toll it takes. I can't even begin to imagine what three years is like, you must be very strong on the inside 💪even if you don't feel like you are, you are 💗
I don't know exactly why this protein powder works, I tried another brand with dairy in it, it wasn't the same, so I went back to this one. I still take it every day. I started off having it in a smoothie with oats, banana, chia seeds, but now I just have it on it's own with water.
I'm not vegan anymore, I eat eggs every day, and often eat chicken and beef, my body craves it, and I don't ever want to go back to the fatigue.
In saying that, for some reason, having the meat and eggs alone doesn't work for me, I still need the protein poweder. I have gone three days max without it, a few weeks ago, but then I started taking it again because I noticed I was getting a bit more tired, easier.
In saying that, I do a lot of cycling, I ride all the time, and I'm fitter and stronger now than I was before covid. So I'm not sure if the protein powder is needed to keep long covid away, or if it's simply because I'm very, very active and it helps with my general recovery and energy.
I don't know if this is the solution for you, but I hope it is, it's definitely worth trying, I initially took it twice a day, now I only take it once a day (before a ride).
The other things I take every day are magnesium and vitamind d.
I hope this helps, and I really hope the protein powder will work for you, you deserve to be living a healthy, active life, Kia Kaha (Stay Strong) 💪💗
Hi 😀 I don't know what it is about this particular powder that works, but I tried a different brand, with dairy in it, and it didn't work, so I just keep using this one as it works. I think it's the combination of active ingredients, maybe not only the protein.
I initially took it twice a day, and I had in a smoothie with banana, chia seed, oats, but now I just have it once a day with water.
It comes with a plastic spoon to measure it with, so I just have the amount it says.
I also have vitamin d and magnesium daily.
I hope this helps! I know it's helped a lot of people, but then some people it didn't help, and I'm not sure why but I feel it's definitely worth a try💗
@@CyclewithSerafina thank you so much 🙏🏼
@@CyclewithSerafina Hi again. Regarding being dependent on the powder, it seems as if it's something that you would have to taper off in order to decrease the dependence on it. It seems that the body/brain probably up regulates certain receptors to use it, which would then be left wanting it upon stopping the powder.
Tapering down or off would allow the body to down regulate, so as to avoid "withdrawal" (that is fatigue etc), so to speak. That's my theory based on several other people saying the same thing.....that they became fatigued after stopping for a while.
I was the same way! Very active. I also take plant protein 2 scoops for the past 6 months but it didn't get me back to normal unfortunately but I do believe it helps!
Ah interesting! Do you take the sports version? or is it just the protein on its own?
It's a disease for the ACTIVE and hyper immune, not the weak. As planned
There is something that is being used to treat covid. We have used it on two occasions and it did seem to lessen symptoms and shortened duration of COVID. It is also in official medical testing as a treatment. It is called ArtemiC Rescue and there is also an after treatment for Longcovid that is called ArtemiC Support. Hi, Thanks for putting this out there, I hope it helps people. You probably got asked this already but how do you mix the protein powder
.Do you put it with milk, water, O.j and do you add anything else to it.
Thanks, Tony
Hi Tony 😀 you can mix it with just water, it's quite yummy! but my favourite is to blend it into a smoothie with waterbanana, oats, chia seeds, strawberries, and anything else I can think to add at the time! it's quite filling, and yummy, and is especially good in the morning before heading out for a ride 😀🚴♀️

Serafina, thank you for making this video. Do you still have to take it twice a day to keep LT Covid at bay? Ever think of stopping taking it? How many days of taking this protein shake does one need to know LTC has stopped or gone away?
For me it kicked me out of LTC almost immediately, definitely within two days, it gave me the energy to get moving, use my brain etc... I now only take it on the days I ride, and only once. If I don't take it, I'm fine, no covid 🥳

Great the powder help you.. About how much vitamin d3 were you taking? Any sunlight while you were recovering? Just asking because the connection between vitamin d and the immune system. Thank you! Glad you are doing so well.
It's really interesting because I cycle all the time, I spend a lot of time in the sun, and I live in Australia, you would think I have enough vitamin D, but apparently not... I still take vitamin D daily, Swisse , I take 5 a day and have done this during covid and daily since, even though I am spending a lot of time outside in the sun, hope this helps 😊
Hi everyone. Someone narrowed it down to the MCT (medium chain triglycerides) in the product, that has the curative effect. Try just MCT oil, or coconut oil, coconut milk or some version of medium chain fatty acid.
I keep coming back to this video. Another thought why this protein powder may have helped so much (outside of the MCT's), is the high level of folate that's in pea protein. Most people with long covid, brain fog etc have low folic acid levels. Some have even found relief from eating a bunch of broccoli. Common ingredient there would be folate.
Maybe that's why the animal protein powder doesnt work, but the plant protein powder does, as it's much higher in folate.
Hey that's interesting, because at first I thought it must have been the protein, but when I tried different protein powder, and started eating more meat, it still didn't have the same result as this vegetable one. Thanks for sharing 🙏
SO happy for you!
That's amazing. What did u do for your lungs? Or breathing
It was hard at first but I just kept pushing through it, breathing has gotten easier over the months. I still struggle sometimes on harder climbs, or when I've just started riding, I need about 30mins for my lungs to warm up, activate. I think the main thing is that, even though it's harder to breathe, no damage is being done, and the more you use your lungs, the stronger they get. Recovery is in using them, not pampering to them 😊
Hi Serafina, I found your video yesterday and was very curious what you had to say. I suffer from Long Covid more than two years now. So tired all the time, no energy for everything I used to do. I tried many supplements, but nothing really helps (except maybe high dose B12). So I'm really curious to see if proteins will help me! I ordered pea protein yesterday and it will be delivered this afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes!
Hi Mirrie, I really hope this works for you! did you order sports protein, or protein only? it may be the combination of protein and the other active ingredients in sports protein that feed and rover the muscles, let me know how you go! 🤞💗
Did it work?
@@HeavenShallTremble I think it had some positive effect. Like, my energy was a little better and seemed more consistent. But it gave me some physical complaints as well, even when I took less. I started with 30-40 grams a day, and then took less, like 15 grams. But I got a very upset stomach, and every day I suffered from the worst acid burns. So unfortunately I had to stop taking it. Now I just try to make sure I eat more protein in my regular food.
Sorry to hear it didn't work for you 😔 I hope you are on the mend though ❤️🌻
I'm happy for you! How many grams of protein did you consume per day? I'm getting about 90g from food alone.
Hi 😀 yes it's so good to have my life back! I'm not sure how many grams of protein I was consuming before I started taking the protein powder, I was eating lentils, oats, and plenty of other protein rich food, I'm still eating the same amount, as well as having the proteing powder. It could be the combined active ingredients that make it so beneficial, I'm unsure if the extra protein on it's own would do the same...
Thank you SO much for posting this, within 24h my symptoms which have lasted 5 months are hugely improved, 3 shakes in! I’m curious to know if you are still taking the shake and if so how much how often? Thanks so much again ❤️
Awesome! that's exactly what happened to me, I'm so happy it's worked for you too! 😍I still take it every day, once a day on the days I'm not riding, and twice a day on the days I ride (1 hr before a ride and as soon as I finish my ride).
Are you also a vegan?
@@antons4419 No
How much protein should it be??
Also what did u do for ur lungs or breathing??
Creatine worked very well for my long covid sysmtoms. Both mentally and physcially. Id reccommend it to others for sure.
Cool 😃 thanks for sharing 👍
Hello ! What were your symptoms at first ? Do they go gradually before protein ? Thanks ❤
Hi 😃 it's hard to remember all my symptoms at first, the main one though was a sore back, it got sorer and sorer, to the point I couldn't stand, even on painkillers, I'd never experienced anything like it. The doctor told me it's the fluid getting trapped in the spine (or something like that) as the body tried to discharge the inflammation.
I had constant runny nose, fatigue, chronic fatigue, loss of appetite, cough, trouble breathing, my lungs were inflated, and I still have problems with them, brain fog, it was awful.
I was very very slowly getting better, I got to the point I could walk across the road by myself, started being more active, but then I'd have to recover for two to three day's afterwards
Once I had the protein powder, all that went away, almost instantly, (other than my damaged lungs which I've learnt to still be active, just harder to breathe sometimes).
I still take the protein powder every day 💓
@@CyclewithSerafina thank you 🤗 I hope your lungs will get better 🙏 I totally understand what you say about the flu trapped in the spine, it's just like I can feel it (6 weeks from my infection). Proteins are anti inflammatory, that's why it works for you 😊.
I have long covid it’s been 9 months I have bad pins and needles in my legs arms and head specially legs, but had every symptom under the sun. I’m going to try that thank you so glad you’re better
Interesting about the pins and needles, I didn't get that but my friend did, it lasted a few months but has stopped now. Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that the protein powder works for you 🤞get the sports protein powder, I think there's something about the combination of ingredients that helps. Sending healing hugs! 💗
The pins and needles I felt and it was scary. How are you now??
did you try?? how are you today?
Could you update us please? Does it help??? please take 1 min to answer. God bless
I just watched the ingredient list to see if you do not make things up, because if all sounds to weird to be true.
This protein powder has Glycine and Cystine which are very important for muscle recovery and they seem to be the active ingredients that actually helps with healing in Long Covid. So weird if that actually the case
It's quite amazing, I think it's the combination of protein and the active ingredients you mentioned, because some people eat a lot of protein and still don't recover. But the protein powder has combined a perfect formula, it doesn't work for everyone, but a lot of people have tried and it's worked for them 🙏😊
do you have a link for this protein? would be a great help.
Hi 😊 this is the one I use incsports.com.au/products/inc-plant-protein-vanilla/
Hi! thanks for being so responsive.
just wanted to hear any updates. the only thing that has been working for me is just eating meat but it isn't sustainable. maybe its the protein from the meat? idk. well imma try some protein.
do you still take the protein daily? and is there a period where you stopped? did ur symptoms return? thanks u so much.
PS: one of my long covid makes me smell. it might be paramosia but i feel like i smell like feet, no matter how much i shower or soap i use and I'm genuinely clean... its soooooooooooooooooo frustrating.
my symptoms include swolle nodes on my lower back. swollen salivary glands.lower back. arthritis only on my left side. left side weakness and even left eye vision a bit worse. and hair loss. andddd fatigue. concentration issues. list goes on.
Hi! how's everything going? I still take the protein powder every day, I may randomly go a day without, but I feel much better having it every day. I'm a very active person, cycling most days and weight/core strength exercises every day, so I'm not sure of the impact of not having it, because I use it to fuel my exercise.
I don't remember smelling at all, but then, by sense of smell wasn't working properly so it's possible I did, I just didn't realise! but not that I'm aware of.
I definitely had a very painful back, extremely painful, that was how I knew something was wrong, because I couldn't stand, even with painkillers, I was told afterwards that it's the virus trying to leave the body and filling up some sacs, spinal fluid, I'm not sure exactly, but that was a major one for me.
My vision definitely got worse, but has since improved, and the fatigue was the absolute worse, it terrifies me even now to think about it, it's the most debilitating thing I've ever experienced. The back pain subsided but the fatigue continued for months and months, I couldn't walk, it was sooo debilitating.
I think there is somethig in the protein powder that works other than just the protein, I'm not sure what it is though. Although I do now eat protein, meat, eggs, whereas before I was vegan, I'm not anymore, my body wants me to eat meat, so I eat meat to live, I'm too afraid of getting that chronic fatigue again!
I don't know if this has really helped you, but I do hope you get better, it's such an awful awful thing to have, and on the outisde, everything looks ok, which makes it harder for other people to empathise.
I remember in the early days, I did stop taking the protein powder for two days, and I felt like the fatige started coming back, so it was then that I decided to just always take it. It's possible I could stop taking it, but (as I mentioned) it helps with my cycling etc...
Sending hugs 💗💗
@@CyclewithSerafina receiving them hugs with lots of appreciatiation. Ty so so much for al the info u share!!

What is called it's called post viral fatigue it takes about 6 months to 12 months and longer in certain people. Reason it hits athletes much harder I was at the gym but I'm a StairMaster guy. One day I did about 12 miles on the StairMaster at sprinting people
It might have taken me a bit longer to recover then if I hadn't had the protein powder, maybe it just boosted my recovery, or fast forwarded it
It does work wonders. I was back to my old self in just 5 days
That's awesome to hear! That's the same result I had 😃💪
Bought a comparable in chocolate flavor here in the US. It’s hard to get down but I’m 7 weeks in with Covid, terrible fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dizziness, headaches. I’ll try anything at this point. Thanks for the suggestion! Maybe I’ll try mixing it with Almond Milk. With water it tastes like cardboard. I’m also trying acupuncture, meditation, slow abdominal breathing exercises. Some days I think I’m getting better, then I’ll have symptoms all over again the next day.
I'm now using the chocolate flavour of the one in the video, it's really yummy! I wonder why your one tastes so bad? I really hope it works for you thought, sending positive healing vibes 💗
@@CyclewithSerafina I only mix it with cold water. Tried with plain Almond milk and wasn’t any better. I think you mix yours with a smoothie or more ingredients? I’m getting used to it now and bought the vanilla to try with vanilla almond milk. But seriously Serafina after 2 days I’m starting to feel more energy!! I have a ways to go but I think it’s working!! I’m so excited to see where this takes me! I’ll take any improvement at this point. Thank you!!
@@CyclewithSerafina By the way I’m in the U.S. so have to use a different brand than yours. May explain the taste difference.
@cherrybb3888 yay! That's wonderful to hear! 😍 Keep me in the loop ❤️
@@CyclewithSerafinaHey Serafina. Question: did you have heart palpitations when you had long covid? This has been an issue for me and makes me weak. The protein powder has given me energy (still take it twice a day) and so I did some exercise on my elliptical for the first time. Major energy crash. So I’m having to back off any exercise at this point. Still in recovery week 10 from Covid. Been taking the powder for 2 weeks. I believe in the powder and will still take it in hopes it will continue to push me in the right direction. Thanks!
Just found your video a year later... I'm wondering. Is your protien source high in iron? I recently watched a video on low iron and the symptoms fit. So I got sunflower and pumpkin seeds and carrots. Also I'm trying to eat more red meat and eggs. I seem to be finally healing... but I've had false starts before. Its been 4 weeks and I'm getting hopeful.
It's great you're healing, four weeks is a good amount of time with no setbacks, I remember I would do the same, seem to be improving, get excited, then it would all go away and I'd be back struggling again. But that would be after a week, so I feel four weeks is good 🤞 I don't know if you're an active person or not, but, as long as I very gently, and slowly, reintroduced cycling and exercise, I'd be ok. I still take the protein powder, I now eat eggs and meat because my body craves it (and I don't ever want chronic fatigue again!) I don't see there's much iron in the protein powder, a lot of amino acids and protein. I hope you heal through this soon 💓
Someone narrowed it down to the MCT in the product she used. Try MCT oil or coconut oil, or coconut milk.
@@livelife5890 thanks! The epiphany I had a few days later is that the high iron products are high protein. So maybe that has something to do with it. 🤷 I will look into the mct side now as well.
If normal Whey doesn't do the trick, indeed try the vegan version. It's made from substances which also aid in detoxing the body, which can be the extra benefit your body needs (like chlorerrla). So for people where whey and other stuff might not work, you might want to aid your body in detoxing (heavy metals, bacteria, mold, viruses).
For those who the increased protein does not work, the following have been researched at Oxford, Harvard and other University studies. They work. Lactoferrin 300mg daily, Nikatene 2mg daily 5 days, One 10mg Zyrtec daily, One 20mg Famotidine twice daily, 1,200-1,800mg NAC and Glycine at 2-3000mg daily….These are what our Covid Doctors are using with alot of success. Talk to your Doctor first, but this is the protocol my Doctors are now using. One of my Doctors is a Professor Of Neurosciences at Harvard. Best of luck to anybody suffering Post Covid Viral Persistence, the misery of Long Covid is often unbearable, I know personally.
Thanks for sharing 😃
For how long have you been taking? Any relief for your symptoms? I took Famotidine and it was a game changer .
Thank you! How long did are you suppose to take these for? I'm assuming until symptoms improve?
I've tried all of these except the lactoferrin, but separately. I'm gonna run this by my doctor. He is very interested in how other institutions are treating LC.
Would you say you are recovered or better then before and do you know anybody who has GI issues and increase pulse when standing and palpitations
@@northernflicker1111 wow a doctor who is interested in how other doctors are treating long covid. Thanks for sharing. How did you take it and how much? With food or an empty stomach? Thanks
Ut provides a scoop in the container and says to take 3.5 scoops. I take it in a smoothie with banana, sometimes I take it on its own, sometimes on an empty stomach... I don't like taking it after a big meal because it just feels uncomfortable, so I'll generally have it before eating, not after

So you're saying I should give up being an old, male, alcoholic? Lol. I bought the berry flavour and mixed it as they said. It was very foamy and very sweet. I didn't like it at first but got used to it by the end. Just finished my first cup. Hoping it will help with my chronic fatigue. Don't forget to ask them for your commission. 😅

I had Covid in early July, I’d say a moderate case with a super sore throat and fever. The cough was mild. My main symptom now is exercise intolerance. I can walk fast now for about 20 minutes and then I start sweating and getting really dizzy. This never happened before and it’s not heart related. Hoping since it’s only been 7 weeks it’ll improve. How much are you taking? I’m taking two very heaped teaspoons of my various powders every morning... maybe I should increase that? Congrats on getting better!
Hi Graham 😃 the powder has 26g of protein per serve, and I take it twice a day, along with my other regular food which includes lentils and oats. I'm 165cm and weigh 53kg, so the amount of protein needed based on weight and size may be a factor?
"The recommended range of protein intake is between 0.8 g/kg and 1.8 g/kg of body weight, dependent on the many factors listed above. People who are highly active, or who wish to build more muscle should generally consume more protein. Some sources suggest consuming between 1.8 to 2 g/kg for those who are highly active."

Something in that plant based powder must be effective at reducing MCAS symptoms. Long/post covid is heavily associated with your white blood cells overproducing histamine. This can be due to mental or bodily stress, bad gut, cholesterol, allergic reactions, etc. If this is the case, I might just increase my plant based protein intake. If that doesnt work I'll try the powder. At this point, I'll try everything. 7 months and going. All vitals normal but feeling like crap. I went to the E.R. 3 times and doctors were stumped. Dont mind the haters, whatever works and doesnt kill us, we should all try what works.
My point exactly 😍 it might not work, but it's not going to cause harm, so it's definitely worth trying. I increased my plant based protein intake too, but I still take the powder, although not every day now. It wasn't intentional, but I seem to only take it wice a day when I'm riding (before and after a ride) and now only sometimes once a day when I'm not riding. I hope you recover soon 💞🙏
MCAS is only one of many theories. Tried treating for that and did not work. Taking LDN now. Willing to try whatever but pretty sure that most people seeing a positive result with protein powder are really just lucky to see their case resolving itself on its own. I had Long Covid for 6 months the first time I had Covid and bounced back and was training for an Ironman. Then I got Covid again and have been very sick for 15 months. And tried everything including this. Doesn't hurt to try. But willing to bet that the majority of people will not benefit.
@@reasonmattersmost 😔 sounds like you've had a really bad time with it, sending positive vibes you can recover soon and get back to being active and healthy 💛
Its the Amino Acids also. Get a good Amino blend with the protein.
If this works i'll be a million times grateful to you but it sounds too good to be true. I already eat a decent amount of protein, but i'll give it a shot. When did you start feeling better? Was it the next day or did it take a week?
I started feeling better the next day, and within two days I had my energy back, no brain fog, and I felt strong in myself again. I take the powder twice a day, even on the days I'm not cycling. I have protein in other food too, lentils, oats etc... the powder has 26g per serve, so I'm having 52g a day, plus whatever I get in the food I eat. I hope it works for you too 🤞 let me know 😃

I've been dealing with long covid after getting it in August this year. It has been hell with a lot of symptoms. I've been on protein powder now for about a week, praying I can recover from this awful disease and get back to work, and get my life back. I used to have the same energy you have, thanks for posting this to give positivity.

@@CyclewithSerafina I've bought Gold Whey Protein powder from Holland and Barrett. I use 2 scoops in 200ml of goats milk with 1 banana as a smoothie. Desperate to get my life back. I do this in the morning.
Thank you Serafina for getting back to me, you are the only person that has replied when I've posted this on the covid peoples sites. My symptoms since this started ...upset stomach, fever going to 39.7 for 4 days included a headache for 24 hours, aches for 3 weeks, cough for 5 weeks, heavy brain fog, difficulty concentrating, very emotional, diminished appetite, rash on my hands and knees every 2 days for 3 weeks, drained, shortness of breath. Throat infection, can't walk far, get tired very quickly, walk slowly. To look at me I look ok.
@@mapleacer9925 I can relate to all of that, except the rash, that's interesting, is it consistent or did it go away? Like you, I found one of the hard things to deal with was that I looked ok on the outside, which made it hard for people to understand just how sick I was. The chronic fatigue is so debilitating, but it's invisible. I think that's where a lot of the anxiety comes into it, it's an internal battle between what you think you should be doing, what others think you should be doing, and what you're actually capable of doing (which isn't a lot!). Our society doesn't allow for this kind of illness... 'You LOOK ok so you should be ok', and that's causes a lot of stress and pressure.
On a side note, how many servings of the protein powder are you taking? I read that one serving of the one you're using has 24g of protein?
Do you take it twice a day?
@@CyclewithSerafina take it once a day in the morning. I'm pushing myself to the limit, my voice went for over a month and now practice humming to try and keep a slight voice. Desperate to get back to work, total nightmare being a workaholic. Cry very easily. I’m wondering if this improved the lung issue at all. I have Covid in January of 2020 before it was a known thing. I had a cough for two years. Now I have the issue of exhaustion in my lungs when I walk or exert myself. It’s been almost 3 years. I’ve done a lot of things and nothing has helped. I’m wondering if anybody has found help with the lung issue??
A really good question, and glad you asked it! I have hyperinflated lungs from covid, the protein powder kicked me out of the fatigue and all the other covid symptoms, but it didn't heal my lungs. What it has done though, is given me the energy to be able to ride and push myself hard on the bike, in doing so, my lungs are getting stonger. I still struggle, at times, it usually takes me half an hour of riding until my lungs start functioning. If I go two days without riding, I'm back to couging and getting breathless just walking down the stairs. I have to be careful when riding and talking, as this can make me extremely breathless, and the other day I pushed a bit too hard and felt like I was suffocating, I couldn't breathe, and panicked. My lungs aren't healed, but I can still function, that's been one of my biggest learnings. Using them, working them, is the best thing for them, it doesn't damage them. A friend strengthens his lungs by blowing up a balloon a few times every day.
Look up a product called NAC. It helped my breathing a lot.
@@CyclewithSerafina I really appreciate you sharing your story. I hope you’re doing better 💕
I still have the issue but it’s definitely improved. I’ve done acupuncture for it. Breathing methods, I drink Mullein leaf tea, taken supplements, I’ve done detoxes etc. It’s just taking a long time. Nothing seems to do anything to improve it dramatically. But I don’t give up. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@danielvelkovski3156 I took NAC in the beginning. I didn’t notice a difference. Could be that my issue is just different than others. My issue is the stamina.

Interesting im approaching 2 years but like you suddenly got everything back and am cycling again and getting stronger. I presumed it was following some advice out of South Africa to take aspirin and b3, they may also be helping but I've actually been moving into a more carnivor type diet and daily protein shakes since November, something has definitely given me a lift, could be a combination of the pills and protein I guess, but Christ it's unreal the change. Maybe needs some scientific research here as well.
oooh! interesting, so you've had a very similar experience? significantly increased your protein intake and almost instantly kicked out of long covid.... like you, I'm intrigued about the scientific research around it, because it happened so suddenly and now I'm stronger than before covid.

I'm recovering too now I started being more mindful of my energy meditation and yoga fixes the autonomic nervous system you'd be surprised that melatonin actually improves and heals this condition so what you want to do is take melatonin and magnesium and promote melatonin and healthy sleep so you can heal you're very lucky woman to just get 6 months worth of this long covid I've been at this almost 11 months now and I'm finally getting better but I was never to the point where I could just crawl it was hard standing up is very difficult at times but I've noticed when I just stay calm and eventually it reduces my inflammation in my body with deep breaths. The anti-inflammatory effects of melatonin in preventing pro-inflammatory profiles or macrophages and suppressing NF-κB activation can help reverse Warburg's effect in long COVID patients. Melatonin also regulates the amyloid β (Aβ) metabolism associated with Alzheimer's disease.Nov 9, 2022 plant protein can you send me the link to the specific protein you're taking?
I'm so glad to hear you are recovering too, it's a very, very long journey 💗💪 and thanks for sharing about the melatonin, someone else mentioned this to me a week ago, first I'd heard of it, but it seems to be very effective so it's definitely worth a try for people who are still recovering and struggling with finding a solution 😀 the plant protein I use is incsports.com.au/products/inc-plant-protein-vanilla/
Don't make the mistake (quite common tbh) to attribute your spontaneous recovery to something that you were happening to do. Could be spurious correlation, could be coincidence, could be placebo...

Hi Roy, it's possible the depression is an accumulation of stress in your body, if you're riding a lot, as well as having other stresses in your life. I've found the same, even though my body is strong again, it's changed, and responds differently to the stress of lots of riding, or pushing myself. If I don't get enough sleep, or if I don't rest and eat properly, the depression kicks in. It never used to before covid, but it does now. 💗

I hope all these things start working for you soon, long covid is too debilitating to have quality of life 🤞💗
If you took probiotics and used some antihistamine spray how do you know that isn't what really helped you? I've already heard ppl say that antihistamine spray helps.
Because it didn't help me, nothing changed until I took the protein powder, unless the antihistamine took a while to work, and then kicked in at exactly the same time as taking the protein powder, I guess that's possible, but highly unlikely
I’ve been taking extra protein shakes (30-60g) for the past month and I’ve felt MUCH better.
I thought it was time but I found your video and realized maybe it’s the protein? I was taking about every supplement under the sun because I was completely bed bound with debilitating LC symptoms, but I really do think there’s something about taking extra protein. It’s so weird.
Awesome! You had the same experience 😃 I was the same, trying all sorts of things, then when I had the protein, it was practically overnight change, so strange, but so good!
Thanks for sharing have had oxygen therapy for ling covid that also helps but you have to be consistent with thr treatment
FYI: I saw someone on reddit who took your video as inspiration. It seems that your powder contains MCT? And that MCT seemed to cure his/her LC.
Awesome 😃 I'm glad it's helping people, it made all the difference for me, I'm actually drinking it now while I'm typing this!
@@CyclewithSerafina I just bought it myself as well. Hopefully it helps.
@@eghieooooh! I hope it does too, fingers, toes, and eyes crossed! 🤞
@@eghie Hey , do you have feedback on taking the protein.

Ive tried everything aswell including protein powders and other supplements
Hbot treatments cpap machines to sleep
Infared saunas

Im still wiped out with fatigue out of breath and heart palpitations brain fog etc etc etc
Im so glad you found a solution
Nothing helps me

Have you watched gez mezinger? Look at his videos ,
I'm so sorry to hear this 😞 it's so much harder to deal with when you're an active healthy person and all of a sudden it's an effort just to get up in the morning, or to use your brain for... anything, existing becomes a struggle.
I'm sure you have, but have you tried the sports protein powder? I think it's the combination of ingredients, not just the protein, that has helped me.
Sending healing thoughts 💗
@@CyclewithSerafina
Thankyou
Yes I've tried just about everything
The only thing that's reslly helped is extended day fasting
Ive been doing that for about 7 years and have previously used it during marathon and ultra marathon training and events
My best results and recovery have been done after extended day fasting and keto diet
Fat adaption is awesome for histamine anti inflammatory issues
Ive tried 3-5 day fasts and also a 7 day water fast along with hbot sessions and am planning on doing a 14 day water fast into the new year
Im hearing more reslly great recovery stories from people who have done longer water fasts
A guy I've been messaging recently was like me
And he did an 18 day fast and after about 2-3 weeks post fasting he said he was back running and working ,pretty much back to normal being able to train again to regain his fitness
Im ready to try anything at the moment
😊👍
@@barefootbeachrunner9498 you need to research dnrs or tms by dr John Sarno. It’s a way out of this
@@barefootbeachrunner9498 oh wow, I'm interested to know how that goes... before getting covid I was basically on a vegan keto diet and fasting 12 hours daily (through sleep and not eating until noon). It was working great for me, then covid hit and my body changed so so much it craved more carbs, I wasn't used to it, it's almost like living inside a new body, I used to be able to cycle 100km on one keto bar and water, nothing else. A few days into covid and I had to fuel my body more often, just to be able to walk. A few months in and I tried the protein powder, which changed everything for me. I've tried going back to my previous keto diet and fasting but my body won't let me. I'm still getting used to my new body, but it's stronger now than it's ever been, so I'm happy now to keep eating this new way and adapting to this new body.
I really hope the fasting helps you, it sounds like a reset (like putting the computer back to factory settings) I've got fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for you! 🤞😃
Hi thx for that informations.
How did they measure the protein in the liver? Never heard of it.
Greetings from a Roadcyclist in Germany ;)
Hi in Germany! 😃 I'd love to cycle there one day, do you have some good climbs?
I'm not sure how they measure the protein, it was part of the blood test, but taking extra protein helped 🚴♀️
When I had Covid in March 2020 I collapsed completely. On the way to improving I craved protein. I craved water. Even now I need plenty of protein. I’m not sure I want to take a supplement but maybe I could try. After all this time I can still only walk 2k.
Yep, I was the same, I didn't want to take a supplement, but I didn't want covid even more, so I still take the protein powder twice a day because I'd much rather have my life back than have long covid. I'm not sure what the side effects of having the protein powder are long term, but I'm stronger and fitter now than before covid 💗
Hi, is it ok to ask, what have you experienced, what are the symptoms?
@@jesselquilala2569 Hi, chronic fatigue, dizziness, trouble breathing, loss of appetite, severe back pain, anxiety, loss of smell, chest pain, trouble sleeping, sleeping too much, brain fog, loss of enthusiasm for life, basically an inablity to function, existing was hard. Xrays showed hyperinflated lungs, and I still have trouble with this, but I'm learning to manage it, it's the only thing still affecting me now.
@@CyclewithSerafina oh, same with me. It's a year now from being infected with COVID. And 2022 is year where I spent my life every month getting checked up by doctors and having different meds. I stop all the meds now, though I have a mitral valve prolapse on my heart as a consequence of COVID pneumonia, I decided not to take meds but just to strengthen my immune system.
@@jesselquilala2569 sounds like a wise thing to do, I didn't take any meds, instead I started taking colostrum tablets every day, and vitamin D, anything to help build up my immune system. I just started this exact protein powder today. Fingers crossed!

Dang it. Not working. My diet is protein heavy so I wasn’t expecting this to work but it was worth a shot. It tastes good at least. Only thing that hag worked for me was creatine. But it’s now working anymore. Ugh.

how much protein in a day do you get
In general? Or in the powder?
This is how I have been feeling for the last 3 month I have been feeling horrible off and on for the last 3 month s

Let me ask you one thing - if you stop taking that protein - are symptoms(long covid) going to come back or once you've taken it you're OK? Even when stop taking protein powder .
I stopped taking it, and I felt a little more tired, so I kept taking it, I only went two days without it so I'm not sure long term...

Yes, the anxiety was awful! It did something weird to my body, it really scared me, I haven't had it since taking the protein.

Hi Sean, I feel your pain! It's sooo hard going from being super active, to not being able to even walk without feeling exhausted. Have you tried the sports protein powder??
@@CyclewithSerafina No, but I've been taking WPC whey protein & Ensure daily for the past 3 months.

I hope so too!! 💓

How much did you use?
I have two servings a day, there's 26g of protein in each serve. I still use it every day 😊
@@CyclewithSerafina I notice a difference, are you completely healed now?
@@mariogomez56 I would say yes, other than my lungs. I'm stronger and fitter than before covid, I can ride further and faster. The only difference is that I can't handle the heat (it's summer over here) like I used to, and I seem to need to eat more often! I've adapted to having lungs that work differently, it takes about half an hour of riding before they are 'warmed up' and if I push too hard I feel like I'm suffocating, but I am doing some pretty hard rides!
@@CyclewithSerafina Your advice worked very well in combination with a carnivorous diet. Did you do exercises while healing?
@@mariogomez56 yes, I'd ride when I could, as much as I could, initially it was just a few KM's then i'd have to recover for a few days, then ride a again a few more KM's, then recover a few days, but once I had the protein powder I suddenly didn't need the recovery days and it was just a case of building up my fitness again.
Over 2 YEARS of long covaids, after severe infection from masking on the frontline, in a moldy workplace...perfect storm. SAME here. I'm close to 50 and have never had a bite of Steak in my life. Sware I could eat a 20lb Ribeye....
You body is telling you to eat meat. A vegan/vegetarian diet is not always the answer for optimal health
You didn’t have long COVID but post viral syndrome that can take sometime to heal, long COVID is different
Thanks 😁
Wanted to say the same. Long covid is different. We r really suffering out here and no protein powder can help but good ad 👏 if it was that easy
You can watch all my videos of my covid journey, I documented it all, my doctor said it was long covid, the x-rays showed hyperinflated lungs, which I'm still suffering from, but it's up to you if you believe me or not, I'm just offering a possible solution that's worth trying.
@@loiwelungu3017 since you know it all how do I recover from long Covid doctor quack ?
@@robertlewis167 Protein powder isnt going to do it. If anything, it can harm people. Especially those suffering from amyloid micro clots. Ppl need to really be careful what they believe here. Sounds like she had some post viral inflammation and it resolved on its own. Some of us are almost 3 years in and nothing seems to work. I found steroids helpful along with a few supplements to alleviate some symptoms but I wouldn’t call someone a quack especially when they are correct.
Had I seen this video earlier I would of offered phototherapy based on the quantum physics of what the human body needs which are electrons or the higher state photons. I'm also from Adelaide 🤜🤛 good luck 👍 With taking supplements most of time the result is just expensive urine the body isn't absorbing anything just goes right through. Ride down Victoria Ave on Friday's you'll see me 😉
Hi fellow Adelaidean! 😃 I haven't heard of phototherapy before, how does it work?
I get kinesiology sometimes, it definitely helped with the initial recovery of covid... the only lingering thing for me now is my lungs, but they aren't stopping me from riding 🚴♀️
