Perfect timing, as I need to do my first oil change on my new-to-me 2014 RC8R. I didn't know about the 3L/600ml step, so thanks very much for that. Great production quality on the video too!

Great video! I was wondering about how to fill in stages. I am glad to see your bike is actually ridden. I find that most people where I live take their bikes our for bike nights only.

My KTM affiliated mechanics said that KTM issued a directive a couple of years ago that only 10w60 fully synthetic should be used in the RC8. Apparently it helps reduce the problem of collapsing cam chain tensioners (which my bike was in for) and oil getting into the airbox.
You can also use a magnet to remove the oil filter.
I always soak the new filter in a tub of new oil to remove any air.

Is that the same oil fill for the 1290 super duke . When I did mine last just re filled up
As any other bike . Great videos on R1 .
I have 1290 for the road and touring and just bought a 2004 R1 for track wasn’t going to bother tax and insurance for the road but temping .

Pass I’m afraid, never worked on a 1290 super duke but very tempted to buy one next year so would be some potentially content if so 😬
Lovely, R1’s of all years have been great bikes 👌

Can you pls suggest which Engine Oil suits best for Hot running KTMs:
    Amsoil 15w-50 Metric
    Motul 300v 15w-50
    Liqui Moly 10w50 street race
    Addinol Pole position 15w-50
    Pakelo krypton 15w50
    Putoline Ester tech 15w-50
    Maxima Extra 15w-50

It’s a very personal opinion oil brands, you will hear so many different outlooks from users! For me providing it’s a premium established brand that’s changed regularly you can’t go wrong! Out of the above it would be Putoline Ester or Motul 300v

@@stoneautomotive Thanks for you reply😊....as you said both Putoline and Motul 300V are ester core technology, do you prefer Esters over Amsoil Metric Fully synthetic engine oil as Amsoil claim big with there First in Synthetic Engine Oils

Hi... just viewed your UA-cam video on the RC8R oil change... would appreciate if you could advise me on the crash protection you have on the frame... dropped mine on my lower leg.. prefer not to do it again though if that is inevitable something to save the plastic and nd brake lever!.. best regards..iain

Quick question please. In order to measure the level, do you screw all the way in the cap or just place it on top? Thanks

    • @jurgenbuntinx1

If its the Rc8RRRRRRR DO NOT SCREW IN, if its the Rc8 you do screw in

That’s odd, as can be seen in my video it was enough to do the change with the oil filter replacement 🤷‍♂️
