I live in New England and red lobster left years ago because they couldn't compete with the really good seafood restaurants here. And at those prices I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business soon.
I love red lobster, when I lived in Denver, I’d eat at red lobster a couple times a week for lunch. I’d get the Walt’s Shrimp lunch special for $9.99. It came with 12 fried shrimps, 2 sides ( I’d get a baked potato and a Caesar salad ) the cheddar bay biscuits and a soft drink. I also used to go for my birthday and indulge in the infamous Ultimate Feast 😋 I haven’t been in a while because it’s gotten so pricey.
Originally the endless shrimp was a once a year promotion. It should have stayed that way! Also, I recently visited a Red Lobster, and they changed their tartar sauce! I won't be returning.
I grew up with chain restaurants - I remember it was fun to dine there and the consistency and value was great. You could always count on reliable comfort food, generous portions, family-friendly environment, and great value. Seeing your video has confirmed in my mind that times have changed. Portions are small: that bacon wrapped scallops appetizer at 3:10 was not good value and they tried to conceal the small portion by using salad leaves to take up half the plate. Derek’s chicken dish (5:30) was also tiny for the price - one chicken breast (and perhaps not even one full chicken breast since it appears to have been pounded, breaded, and fried)
I went to Red Lobster for Thanksgiving Friday. The food was great and well prepared, but in the high thirty's and forties, not sure I can afford to eat their except maybe once a year. The past three years, restaurant dinning and fast food have really priced themselves out my price range.
Back in the day 80s we use to love Red Lobster and their Cheddar Biscuits were so good. Haven’t been to a RL in many years. The scallops you had looked delicious. Thanks Derek and Catherine! Happy Holidays ❤
How long did it take you to receive your biscuits? I read the new CEO has made it mandatory for all establishments to deliver them to the table during the initial greeting by your server.
I found the hole in the hush puppies interesting. I have had hush puppies from different places. Never once did I have a hole, or in your case 3 with holes. I wonder if they put a piece of butter I the center, and it just melted during frying. At Easter time the is this role that's made with a marshmallows inside. It will melt when you bake it and leaves a hole inside. I would go for the biscuit over the rolls. The rolls are very sweet. I like savory food more. You could make biscuit and seafood gravy for a brunch. Chicken dishes also go great with the biscuit.
Here in Jacksonville, FL they have all closed down and have not come back. But we have many other great seafood restaurants being so close to the Atlantic ocean. We can buy frozen Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits from the grocery store and bake them at home--they are pretty much the same as the original.
Cheddar Bay for me! At one time, they had a stuffed crab and cheese mushrooms with garlic and olive oil as an app, it was so good. However, this was about 20 years ago. We still have our RL here in Eugene, Oregon. Thank you for the video, Happy Holidays.
The Red here closed over a year ago. I’m part of their problem. Got tired of the poured out of a can food. The biscuits were good. But heck. I can make those at home!
Cheddar Bay Biscuits all day!!! Back in the day when I brought my own lunch to work, I would go and just buy half a dozen during lunch and eat them with my salad, soup, or if I made a stew. They go great with anything!
Totally agree. They will be out of business within 2 years. Outdated restaurants and insane prices are a recipe for disaster. I would never pay $19.99 for 1 chicken breast, let alone $3.99 for an upcharge for asparagus. $34.99 for a langostino pasta dish, no way. I was at Red Lobster 12/13 for a lunch of soup and salad & it was a disaster. Both the clam chowder and lobster bisque are not homemade and are straight from a can. The wilted salad mix was horrible and swimming in dressing. The only thing Red Lobster had going for it are the cheddar bay biscuits. I've never had a shrimp bigger than my pinky finger. Poor quality, high prices and dark restaurants that have not remodeled in 20 plus years...is a no go.
Back in the day they had seafood fettuccine. That was delicious. They don't serve it anymore. They also used to have a drink called a Bahama Mamma. That was good too
I know I wont get the Lobster and Pasta, but I might get the Chicken and the hush puppies. We really love hushpuppy. But you really want to know why we keep going back to Red Lobster? It's for the cheddar biscuits and their jumbo coconut shrimp!! They're delicious!!❤
I like Red Lobster. It has always been a tried and true place to enjoy seafood. I had some great medical news last week and told my husband that I wanted to celebrate and that I wanted seafood. We live in a location where fresh seafood is impossible to get. Frozen is the standard and we all know that is hit or miss. We went to Red Lobster on a quiet night, early (before 6:30pm) and were informed that they were out of crab legs. I ordered lobster instead. It was old, fishy and tough. I think their financial issues are making management turn on their staff and as a result - overall quality is down the drain. Food quality stunk as did the service. Red Lobster used to offer some of the best fried calamari that I've eaten but now they don't care how long it cooks or how long it has been since they changed the oil in their fryers.
if you want the parm-crusted chicken, GO to Longhorn! i tried it at Red Lobstr and it was subpar! like a subway version - its SOOOO much better at LONGHORN
Are you sure those scallops are real? Personally if I didn't see it come out of the water, or alive in a tank, I won't chomp it. Franchises will always cut corners for profits.
Management doesn’t adapt to changing market. Went to Ruth’s Chris steakhouse the other day. $80 basic steak, $60 salmon. Peak dinner time 6 people in a huge restaurant. No more business men with expense accounts.
I love there bake potato and sour cream and the chicken and the shrimp and the steak and the lobster 🦞 and the crab cakes and crab leg's 🦀 and drinks!!!!!
Red Lobster just needs to pack it up. If they can't be a mid-tier value for seafood, there isn't a point to their business model. Those prices are the same as higher tier places in our area. Plus, they're shrink-flating their dishes by just being a pasta place with a dusting of seafood. Edit: And that $35 pasta dish has langostino and not real lobster! And since when has asparagus, 8 while spears even, ever been a premium item? Hollow hush puppies also. Lol. Nope.
The problem with the Cheddar Bay Biscuits is the they are addicting 😂 , but, because you can buy them in the grocery store and make them at home, you don’t need to visit Red Lobster to get them, which may hurt business some what 🤔
The food looked good, but over priced. I wonder if they kept their week night specials? They had my fav. Steak & Maine Lobster tail for $24.99 twice a week. Did you happen to notice if they still feature ones like that?
$35 for a plate of pasta is absurd. Most folks just can’t afford it. With drinks and taxes, you’re pushing close to $200 for a family of four to dine there. Nuts.

Their biscuits are the absolute best anywhere!
I agree I used to work for them years ago
And the biscuits are the best
General Mills made it just for them
When the owned the franchise

Thanks for including the price on each item and showing the total bill.
I don’t visit RL to eat pasta! Especially for $35 😳 or Chicken 😂
Originally the endless shrimp was a once a year promotion. It should have stayed that way! Also, I recently visited a Red Lobster, and they changed their tartar sauce! I won't be returning.
These greedy corporations have priced themselves out of the market
Cheddar Bay biscuits are the best. Hands down.
Love to see you go back and try the other stuff too! Great video guys!!

Happy holidays!
Those prices are way too high.
Did anyone else notice the long scratch on the wall behind Derrick ? To me, that is a bad sign. What else is being neglected ?
YES not a good look when you are trying to reinvent yourself
That's from a gang brawl. Common at Red Lobster.
Yep. Some wood stain pens should work
if you look its literally scratched on multiple walls
Wow those prices, way to expensive for that little bit of food.
Red Lobster biscuit. RL still one of my favorites

Maybe a chunk of cheddar cheese.

Just a pricey Long John Silver restaurant.

Those Texas Roadhouse Rolls are delicious, and as far as I know, you can only get those at TR!
Let’s go to Red Lobster and order chicken Parmesan 😂😅
No contest...Cheddar Bay!!!
Back in the day they had seafood fettuccine. That was delicious. They don't serve it anymore. They also used to have a drink called a Bahama Mamma. That was good too
Why would you order any kind of chicken at Red Lobster?
I mean, if you want chicken, go to a chicken joint.
its for those that dont like seafood but go with their seafood loving spouse. 😊
They always had the BEST Hushpuppies....glad they brought them back!
I love Red Lobster. In regard to your question about the Cheddar Bay biscuits vs rolls, the rolls at Texas Roadhouse would be my choice.
I have never driven by our Red Lobster when the parking lot wasn't full.
They're prices were always to high on the pasta and chicken dishes..
I’ll come in around noon at the Wynn buffet and spend 55.00 overlapping until 1:00 when the crab legs come out. 😉
We lost our local Red Lobster which was located a block from the largest mall in the State of Colorado. We have missed it.

They should rename themselves “Biscuits & More Biscuits”

Derrick your wife is the sweetest dish of all 🇬🇧 ❤
Are you sure those scallops are real? Personally if I didn't see it come out of the water, or alive in a tank, I won't chomp it. Franchises will always cut corners for profits.
Looks like a complete ripoff! I couldn’t believe that pasta was $35 alone.
Love yalls videos Derek and Catherine! Watch em all the time. I have request if possible, can yall review a panda express? That place rules.
On our list!
Cheddar biscuits over any others rolls
Great video.
Management doesn’t adapt to changing market. Went to Ruth’s Chris steakhouse the other day. $80 basic steak, $60 salmon. Peak dinner time 6 people in a huge restaurant. No more business men with expense accounts.
Paying $83 to eat at Red Lobster is madness. +
I love there bake potato and sour cream and the chicken and the shrimp and the steak and the lobster 🦞 and the crab cakes and crab leg's 🦀 and drinks!!!!!
Those prices they can keep it...portions are small for that price
I had their rainbow trout last week... it was fantastic

Those portions and the size and quality is wayyyyyy down! I loved the AYCE SHRIMP!
I can go to a great local seafood place for nearly the same price.
Their prices are outrageous.
I’m not one for chain restaurants, but that looked delicious 😋
I luv Texas roadhouse rolls 😅❤
$3.99 extra for “premium” asparagus? 😂 that’s not a thing.
They look kind of sad.
I'm going there this weekend for my Birthday
Luv you guys great video
I interviewed with Red Lobster 30 years ago. They wanted me to move and that was a deal breaker.
The biscuits and Cesar salad keep me wanting to return. I’m definitely choosing the biscuits over the rolls
❤ Simply Delicious ❤
One meal is 40 bucks lol
I would say give em another shot. Their fried seafood I’ve always enjoyed.
I just love seafood they have great crab cakes and steak and shrimps and drinks and crab leg's
I live in Minneapolis and they closed the two Red Lobster restaurants near my house.
A little too pricy for me. Love the biscuits for sure. 'Thanks as always for the wonderful reviews.
Those are some sad hush puppies
Their quality has gone down so much we won't ever go back
totally agree
A tad pricey for me!

Hello 👋🏽 Derek & Catherine
Hi, Christine!
It doesn’t taste like chicken parm cause it’s not. It’s Parmesan crusted chicken big difference.
Red Lobster use to be my favorite restaurant. Its sad to see how they have become. End of an era for me
Red Lobster is always busy in my area.
Those prices... 😵💫
Those prices are INSANE for Red Lobster
Biscuits
With those prices and portions, I think I’d rather eat at an all-you-can-eat
Yess come back
I find the best item (after the chedda biskits) is the burger.
Come back and try all the new items please 😊
Turns out mediocre seafood at high prices isn't a winning combination.
Cheddar bay biscuits over TR rolls everyday!
The food looked good, but over priced. I wonder if they kept their week night specials? They had my fav. Steak & Maine Lobster tail for $24.99 twice a week. Did you happen to notice if they still feature ones like that?
I love red lobster!
Me too ! 🇬🇧
Me Three ! ❤
It was always the high price of the food and the small portions all are red lobsters closed hear in western NY l always left there hungry still
Seems like they up the prices
Happy holiday's Derek and beautiful wife ❤️ 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🍷🍷🍷🍺🍺🍺🍹🍹🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤
Happy holidays!
I don't mind going to Red Lobster on occasion when I am up in NY but here in FL, where I live ,there are many better seafood restaurants.
You didnt show the menu.
I would never pay those prices
Red Lobster has better rolls.
I’ve been to Red Lobster about 10 times. Nine good experiences and one bad one.
I think that is to much to pay for what you get ! Every thing is Over Priced ! Then Tax and Tip ! Without Drinks ? Oh No ! $100.00
Let’s give the new ceo a chance to improve rl and we shall see if he lower prices and keep everyone satisfied
That’s just so expensive!
