I almost cancelled my S8+ order after watching this video believing that it has grey blacks which I was unable to believe how because it has OLED panel. I thought might be because of poor antireflective coating. But believe me S8+ has deep blacks and OLED panel on this tab is quite impressive. Glad that my attempt to cancel the order of S8+ didn't work. I don't know why this guy gave a wrong info that blacks are grey on S8+.No wonder these Apple fan boys channel giving biased reviews on other products. Keep in mind we don't compare or use both of these side by side every minute. Outdoor visibility is not impressive but not bad and who carries a tab and use it in outdoors always under direct sunlight? Even in adequate sunlight and under normal light in room the S8+ is quite good and no issues. I think only in battery life iPad wins over S8+ but except that in everything else both are neck to neck. Functionality wise S8+ wins. The Dex mode, Notes app, Clip Studio app exclusive to Samsung are just awesome to tell a few.
I don’t know why you said that this device is not bad but just the iPad is way better then your tablet. Better battery life 2 times the performance and why smoother thanked you iPadOS being way more optimized Also screen is better (I have a Samsung phone with a better display then the tab s8 and the Liquid Retina xerox is way brighter and color accurate) The only reason to buy the tab s8 is if you really don’t want to buy an iPad but for the same price you just get more. Really even the entry level iPad 9 is faster But just like everything else there are limitations in iPadOS that limits its potential not that android is better at that aspect as well

When comparing you forgot to mention that the galaxy has face unlock, and about the spen you forgot to mention that it can be attached anywhere, also at the side. And it doesn't need any charge to work as pen but only to use the gestures which iPad doesn't have.

It’s a tuff call , both have pros and cons , and neither is close to perfect , probably buy both would solve the problem. The iPads multitasking is half baked compared to the tab , the iPad costs an arm and a leg , the iPads accessories also cost an arm and a leg , Also for some of us , blooming is a serious issue , and if I remember correctly blooming gets worse if you are looking at it off angle, which sammys Oled does not in anyway suffer from. I don’t recall does the Sammy’s tab have an SD card ?? The tabs camera position for zoom calls is better . The S pen which may have a slight bit more latency I suspect can do way more than apples gen 2 pen( which is also as expensive as hell). In day to day life in which you have to live with the devices , the tab S8+ looks better to me even though I do like elements of the iPad..
I got tab s8 plus, size is perfect, screen awesome, best thing is I installed Adblock for Firefox and Samsung Internet, so much freedom compared to iPad, and it's cheaper, no brainer, Samsung is the way to go.
I wonder if now that Samsung is bringing good hardware with really good software for tablets, on top of the growing frustration with iPadOS limitations Apple will finally start to really open up the iPad Pro.

Honestly, Apple has a massive lead in tablet marketshare. You know what that means? It means the mass majority of people are fine with PadOS and continue to buy them. Your average iPad user isn’t the people posting on forums about software. The proof is in the sales numbers.
I used both the S-Pen and Apple Pencil and for note taking the S-Pen is way better. At least for me it has the right amount of friction so my handwriting looks and feels natural. Increasing pressure increases friction with the S-Pen. With the Apple Pencil it's not that way which feels really bad for writing. For drawing it may be different.
Only a few reviewers actually go into things like this Flossy Carter does. I wish it was less about numbers and comparing features on paper and more in actual usage. But that would mean actual use you know? And that's time consuming to actually consume a non Apple product when apple is their bread and butter money wise.

I don’t care about specifications as they mean very little. The iPad pro is far more powerful than the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 yet the Surface Pro is a far better machine for the majority of people, whether students, workers, business owners etc. I know as I made the change 3 months ago. I suspect the Samsung is a far better machine in that respect too. The more of these UA-cam videos I watch the more I realize these reviews are really just pointless and frivolous…. for bedroom hermits who just like to make videos about themselves, their lives, the anxiety they are experiencing, their diets, their cats etc… to put on UA-cam and TikTok. How about actually discussing use cases of these machines: using office applications such as word documents and spreadsheets, connecting to printers, zoom video conferencing, connecting to external projectors / displays?? Freaking well said. Ipad is nice and fast, like a nice super car, tab S8 is also nice less fast but is like a G wagen, nice, fast, can be used in any terrain, can have more people then only two. If 65mph is all the speed I need, why would I buy a useless fast car.
@@songkim117 really? i think ipad carries you in more scenarios, drawing is better since the pen doesnt have that much delay compared to the s8 one and is more circular so its great, for gaming is also better bc you have a better peripheral vision up and down, and y'know, is faster and has more battery. i know the stage manager isn't as good as dex but it does its job, and y'know is good overall for office or whatever you doing, is brighter, has more battery, a better camera, so i dont see why the s8 is a superior tablet
iPad performance can't be touched. But the locked down nature of iPad OS makes it unbuyable for me. Multitasking on Samsung Dex makes it Tab S8+ a genuine laptop replacement option. Whereas on iPad, you can realisitically only open one or two full apps at a time. The iPad isn't better for working because of this. The sad part is, the iPad is not as good because Apple doesn't want it to be.
iPad could be a second display for PCs and could be a graphic tablet replacement as well as a pc replacement but yes being so locked by Apple makes it kinda like a really big iPod touch with the ability to do some light sketching and art on it and maybe some Netflix.
@Stelios Kapet Tab S7+ can be used as a secondary display as well out of the box. And not only with Windows ( Win+P ) but with the andriod phone, too. You can run Samsung DEX from your phone and use the tablet as screen and phone as keyboard/trackpad

The pen performance test was unfair because you used the apple pencil in Apple's notes app (its always the smoothest in the official notes app) and you didn't use Samsung notes for the S pen. It has a 2.8 millisecond response time so the delay is minimal

In my opinion the video lacks a lot of details. - Is it dolby atmos feature enabled - You should compare with Samsung notes for best performance - You did not mantion that the Tab have face unlock - You should compare The Book Cover, not the book cover SLIM - You did not mantion the second screen benefits of both tablets
I had an ipad pro and traded it for the S8. I absolutely love the s8. Paid less than $600 and it came with the spen which is awesome. I use it often in dex mode as a legit laptop and also as a desktop when plugged into my monitor. One of the coolest devices I've owned. I'm hoping Apple gets innovative again. More speed and a better camera than last year's model needs to change.
With the new IpadOS 16 the pendulum swings to Ipad Pro M1. The Stage Manager finally add true external monitor support and real desktop like experience, then blews S8 (or S8+ and S8 Ultra) away with the superior M1 power. I’m agnostic when it comes to my computing platform, but I’ve to admit that the M1, and the subsequent M2, beat almost any other current offer in the market in terms of price vs performance

Stage Manager is a sad excuse of a window manager, so many wasted space and still hilarious management of windows. There is no comparison. The iPad does not want to be a computer. iPad Pro m1 is the best tablet on the market trust me. I use note 20 ultra for a phone but iPad m1 12.9 for tablet. The screen is better looking in UHD. Beautiful colors, faster, better software, the face recognition is insane. It sees my face if I’m laying sideways in a pitch black room. The camera can see your face even if your far away because the face recognition software can follow you, zoom or shrink your face to recognize it. It’s so handy. Only downside is wish it had micro SC hate the fact apple never adds that.

I have an Ultra on pre-order, but it seems to be badly delayed. I have an S7+, though, which is basically the S8+ with an older SoC. The S8+ is a good counterpart to the iPad Pro 12.9” while the Ultra doesn’t really have a counterpart in the Apple ecosystem. I’m hopeful the 14.6” isn’t too big. If it is, it’ll have to stay in its keyboard case all the time, essentially making it a laptop. I guess I’ll find out when it arrives. I do like my S7+ OLED screen, which I believe is identical in every way to the S8+. My only criticism is its max brightness. The effective brightness is maybe 300 nits, which is pretty useless in sunlight. The brightness is why I use my iPad so much more than the S7+. Unfortunately the Ultra’s display is no brighter than the S7+/S8+ screen. I figure I’ll use my Ultra mostly indoors.
The Tab S8 Plus is really good. S-pen included, SD Card and Dex. I think you get more value with that then an iPad Pro 12.9. As well Stage Manager doesn’t appear to be too good. I honestly think that Apple routinely talks their software designers into making something ‘close’ to a true operating system for an iPad but not exactly because if the iPad did run something like macOS it would hurt their MacBook sales. For Samsung, Dex is very close to a Windows like OS it’s not perfect for sure but very close. To summarize both are good, designed well, nice displays, you wouldn’t be disappointed with either but overall S8 Plus has more value and comes close to being able to replace your laptop.
I had an iPad air. Looking to the m2 pro. And I'm impressed with the S8+. The apple software doesn't impress me like android. It seems dated. I'll stick with my PC and Androids
My GF ordered the tab S8 plus and having only owned iPads i was really impressed with it. I love my iPad, but i just hate how apple limits it with software. We have an M1, but honestly no apps will ever push it to the max. I know that apple does this to protect their sales of the MacBook airs. Multitasking on the tab is a dream compared to the iPad. I still cannot let go of my iPad, but if Samsung keeps up the good work in a few years things will be interesting. Competition is always good and I'm happy that Samsung and Apple push each other.

Geekbench is actually irrelevant nowadays on portable devices. In many speed tests (like phonebuff) android phones have actually beaten iphones in real world speed tests. Having both devices, I can assure you that both are damn near identical in speed when it comes to the vast majority of operations (I can't tell a difference). Hopefully people don't buy ipad pro because they think it is way faster than galaxy in real world usage (it's not).
The iPad is great, but you're paying for hardware that you can't utilize to it's fullest. If it was as flexible as the Samsung it would be amazing, but personally id just rather the S8+ or pro.
Somehow on Samsung Tabs browser is much slower than on iPads, even the most basic iPad is faster at browsing and doing my office work… There are a lot of features on Samsung that are good in theory but clunky in use….

Here in Canada I was able to get the 11 inch S8 for 810$ including Pen, KB Case, Buds2 and 2 year accidental damage warranty. That's about 40$ more for a base iPad Air...
Samsung is really good about adding lots of treats to your cart to incentivize you to buy their products. I got a free wireless charger, a case, and a pair of galaxy buds when I bought a Samsung phone.

This channel is incredibly slanted towards Apple and they focus on benchmarks, yet say benchmarks mean nothing with no proper software optimization. Tech Gear Talk is wayyyyyy better at reviewing tech whereas this channel is just good at promoting apple against competitors
I'm personally not big on fold phones either, whether it's from Apple or not. It just doesn't address any of my immediate wants. It's still a novelty for now, until materials for a folding screen improves on durability

But at the macro level when comparing it in terms of percentages, it does show something, no? He did however give factual observations on usage and data such as screen frames, which to me, translate to real world performance.
I really hope that Samsung dex would give some pressure to Apple so that they would start making the IpadOS a proper laptop replacement instead of limiting it so heavily

Tab S8+ is a solid tablet. Everything is customizable including the screen. I've already tweaked mine to 4K in par with my Qled TV and laptop. Speaking of TV I can turn my 12 inch screen to 50 inches just by connecting it to my TV with just 1 toggle from the notification panel and view it split screen with my live viewing content. Multitasking is at a whole other level with Tab S8+. There is no contest. The split screens and floating windows makes it unmatched by any tablet. And, less talk about the spen. You can turn volume up or down with a simple gesture, pause a video or take pictures. Even fast forward Playlist and not be near your device. The ability alone to make a gif out of a video such as this one and text or email it to someone is 1000% useful. Then there is the ability to grab and extract text to put anywhere is taking productivity well beyond what you could imagine. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what you can do. It's no contest. Samsung is innovation at this point.
I use Samsung fold 3 as main , Apple Watch 7 , iPad Pro m1 , iPhone 12 Pro Max for the watch & I love both systems 💁🏽♂️but for me apple is a little bit boring on phone to use

@@arionstarks4640 gaming while watching/listening to youtube or backed up movies and note taking while doing all the above. Its really down to better split screen management and mouse support. If apple where to add similar multitasking options I would prefer my iPad Pro. Though you can’t easily play emulators or watch movie backups on the iPad, it has better first and third party software support.
I've been using an iPad pro for years now, when the tab S8 Ultra came out it instantly sold me. Yeah the iPad has better app support but the one that I really use is Clip Studio Paint. And with the new companion feature on CSP, Samsung just took the lead by tenfold. Yeah it's just a small feature but I've always wanted to use something like that. On top of that, iPad's aspect ratio has always been super annoying for me, there's never enough space horizontally.

I love the iPad, But reviews always seem to say that the M1 chip is being wasted, then in the same breath saying that other tablets can not match the performance. Benchmark performance is not real world performance if there’s nothing to utilize the power. 🤷🏽♂️
The S Pen has this strange thing where it changes the latency depending on which brush you're using also both have terrible latency in OneNote but by default the S Pen is way better than the apple pencil as it has a 2.8ms vs 9ms latency.

To me the pen placement on the S8 is much better. I can’t stand the top Mount on my iPad. The camera and mic seemed better with the Samsung and so does the OS with its multitasking ability. Everything else the iPad :). Now if we can get apple to bring back the split keyboard.
There's no point of the m1chip in the iPad since it can't be utilized. And OLED display on a tablet that big is amazing and the software from Samsung makes the tablet amazing for multitasking and productive work. Plus the s-pen is included and Dex turns it into a laptops replacement in a jiffy. It's not even a comparison

sure, its fast. in benchmarks. It cant compete in usage of the chip. Samsung has dex. Apple has nothing that competes with dex. The performance in games is literally not different than any other apple tablet. so i dont care about it being more powerful especially when it cant utilize it's power.
@@LaidBackDeveloper there is a huge difference in games unless you are a baby that plays Roblox. Playing games like codm, genshin and pubg at its max settings and you will see a huge difference. Plus i don't see many people using such a small screen as a desktop. There is a reason ipads dominate the tablet market share plus sell more units every year all though they are way more expensive. I don't actually care cuz i can't afford either but I am very impressed with the M1 ipad.
As an owner of a M1 Ipad Pro, that SSD write speed is essential in reducing wait times to off-load photos and documents. Further, Samsung is still hobbled by the lack of better Apps optimized for Tablet. Hoping these deficiencies will be addressed by Samsung in their next tablet upgrade to scare Apple.
Also an m1 iPad Pro user, i find it the exact opposite. Ipad OS is such a limitation it makes my ipad unusable for any real work, except lumafusion. And with luma coming to android(which is light years ahead in well pretty much everything) on top of being to run full desktop OS’s and dex mode its not even a competition. What’s the point of having the best performance if you cant use any of it.

Plus waiting for documents or photos to get transferred to ssd is a bummer without thunderbolt. thunderbolt allows you to daisy chain other peripherals too. another point to note is that the S8 does not hold its value in the long term. will wait for the s9.
I walked by one of these tablets at Best Buy. I could see the PWM on the screen. It was awful. I could not imagine using this everyday. I dont have that issue with the iPhone OLED.
Were you using Samsung Notes? Because that application can take full advantage of 2.8ms latency of the spen. And because of that, spent has much much lower lag than apple pencil. Biased reviews lost you a sub.
The Tab S8s are actually running at a lower frequency than the S22s since the Tab S8s are thinner than the S22s meaning that they can't fit cooling solutions as mentioned by MKBHD in his review....
Wow amazing tests. I didn’t expect this much of a performance difference; I figured they’d boast performance of the SD8Gen1 on the tablet due to bigger size.
It’s a Snapdragon chip, which is in the same class as the A Series, not M Series. The latest SD Gen8 isn’t as fast as the comparable A Series, so it wouldn’t come close to the M1
I think id take the 12.9 over the 8+, but id take the 8+ over the 11inch ipad pro honestly. That 12 inch size plus that beautiful screen is just killer
This guy is just an apple fanboy. The review seems extremely biased to me. I have never heard anyone say the blacks on an oled screen look grey. OLED's strength is definitely in a darker room, and understandably it doesn't get as bright as lcd in order to avoid burn ins, but grayish black is just false. Hopefully the comparison between the iPad Pro and s8 ultra is more impartial.
You can clearly see it’s more grey at 4:17 It depends on how you use your device In darker settings the OLED on the S8+ will win but in brighter settings the iPad wins
@@Isengardtom yeah I agree that it depends on which environment you plan on using the device, either dark or light, both devices have their advantages. But if you know anything about OLED you’d know that every pixel is able to turn off and on individually, so the blacks on an OLED are literally turned off pixels, how can turned off pixels be grey ? The S8+ is definitely better!! Why?? Better screen aspect ration (for movies), better S-pen usability, better front camera position, samsung dex for multitasking, micro SD card slot, and overall cheaper with better value for money Btw i'll get ma S8+ next thursday :)

My only complaint with your pen review was that you only compared both on one app. I don't see much difference in, let's say, clip studio paint performances tbh.
I have the 2018 iPad Pro 11 and because of relocating and not having a Windows laptop with me I’ve switched over to the iPad for work. After 6 months of using the iPad with Windows Office products, viewing and editing PDF’s, and MS Teams I’ve realized that there are a few issues that really bug me about using it for professional work. These are the camera position, the multitasking isn’t as good as using Windows, file management, and no proper external monitor support. Btw, in my opinion until the iPad can properly utilize an external monitor Apple should drop the “Pro” from it’s name. Lately, I have been using my S21 5G and DEX for external monitor support and I love it. At this point, the only thing keeping me from switching over to a Samsung Tablet is the fact that I haven’t found a PDF editing program on Android that’s as good as PDF Expert Pro on the iPad. Sorry, I got lost in my iPad Pro rant, but great video on the S8+! I’ve be looking at the Tab S7 11 inch for awhile now and when Android has a PDF app that I like I’ll probably go that route.
Here is the thing, the reason why apple is still winning in the tablet category is because of software. Alot of people may say that ipad os is limited compare to its android counterpart. True but that is only in interface level. Ipad's apps is miles better than android. It is simply a chicken and egg analogy. Ipad holds majority of the market so more developer create/develop apps for that devices, if apps improve more user will come and so on. Google simply doesnt care much with tablet but we will see with its upcoming tablet if things change.

it really comes down to if you wanna deal with Apples ecosystem. I LOVED the quality and the speed of apples devices, but I still went back to Android for the flexibility of the devices.

The S8+ and S8 Ultra have the same lower latency of 2.8 MS, the prior post is incorrect. I have not noticed any latency in my S8+, it works very well. Feels great and easy to write.

in 2022 i still dont get why the tablet space exists at 1000 dollars range like just go for mac book m1 air those who are power users or "professional users" they might obviosly pick professional tool like a lap ( exception for digital artists ) my point is if u are planning to use it like a laptop just buy a laptop at that 1000 dollar range tablets till 700 bucks is fine like the ipad air, mini and 9th gen over that 700 mark it just looses its value as a tool
Great video. I think I will stick with my M1 iPad Pro 11. It has actually replaced my MacBook Pro for my Real Estate/Property management business. Dex is a neat trick but that's all it is. A neat trick that lets you run mobile Android apps in a windows type environment that mimics a laptop experience.

Lol so lets get this straight..you DONOT pay just the cost of iPad here. You have to pay for the iPad + Pencil + Keyboard + AppleCare+ (I don't know how none considers this significant cost) which is totally illogical to spend on a tablet when you can't even fully use the power. Of course the M1 destroyed the Snappdragon because its literally the same processor Apple uses on their laptops lol. That's like putting a Ryzen Threadripper on a tablet. On the other hand Samsung is giving you the S Pen and the keyboard free of cost and the SamsungCare+ is much cheaper than AppleCare+ and with many promotional programs the S8+ will cost even cheaper. When you look at the final price of both, the iPad costs you almost twice that of the S8+ Do you really wanna spend so much on a tablet or would you rather buy the S8+ and buy the Tab S9+ next year with the money you saved?
Your comparison tests seem very biased favoring Apple products. 2 times faster on a random benchmark about browsing speed is not representative of everyday use. It takes less than a second for a page to load. Two times faster means less than half a second, which makes it no difference at all. Percentage wise, it is something, but will you ever notice it? When you try to re-load the page it may be faster or slower depending on other more important things, like the Internet Speed, Updates running on background, the webpage itself, your location, the signal of Wifi etc. This is why benchmarks are always something not worthy to rely on these days. They were great a few (10 maybe) years back, when Apps where much more simple, with less adds, less "fuss" going on. But right now, at 2022, with so much bloatware on everything, constant updates, variable adds on websites and social media... It doesn't make much sense to rely on a random number for measuring the everyday responsiveness of a device. Everyone on the Internet agrees that the S-pen provides a more hand-writting on paper experience. The Apple pencil feels like drawing on glass with those "tok-tok" sounds like writing on a school board. You need to buy a special screen protector, that will make handwriting a better experience, but will also make the display look worse, not to mention the damage that's gonna cause to the apple pencil. And I haven't yet managed to place a screen protector without at least a couple of "bobbles" that refuse to go away. You prefer not to mention these facts. You made a sound comparison based on the bass and overall sound volume... The song is what it is. The purpose of a device is to represent the song as it is. More bass or higher volume might make it better or worse. That is not the job of the device to fix. There are applications for that purpose. The same goes for the cameras at 14:57. There is no such thing as "best". The "best" is the one closer to reality. Your face is white-beige based on the rest of the video's footage. Not orange as seen with Apple's saturation. Another example is the light source on the left. Not much needed to say here. The cost of Android applications is minimal (or zero) compared to the apple store. The apps you gonna use, will always depend on your ecosystem. In USA most professionals seem to prefer Apple since it's a local thing, you get deals from stores like Bestbuy or Amazon or Apple itself... There are no Stores like these in Europe. In Europe most companies have Windows desktops, since there is no "serious" Apple customer care or service. Paying 350 €/$ for a keyboard... There are State of the Art desktop keyboards that cost 200€ and are considered expensive. With dozens of reviews by PC typing enthusiasts who struggle to justify the cost. For those of you don’t know any better, 🤷🏽 I don’t know what Max is talking about when it comes to the display of these two… I own both the IPad Pro 12.9, and the Tab S7+5G, and in reality, it isn’t even close. First of all, nobody is going to be watching movies or videos in direct sunlight, or directly under any kind of glaring light flat down. You put a case with a stand on it, and it’s a whole different story. Also, you will never even max out the brightness on the Tab, halfway is plenty. Additionally, you can adjust the Oled display mode from Natural, to Vivid, and in Advanced mode you can give it crazy richness! Way more shadow detail, depth of color and immersion in the Tab…
Agree completely, heck even my samsung s5e super amoled screen is nicer once adjusted than my ipad pro 12.9 one for looking at photographs and warching movies
Because of Apple's closed eco system (by purposeful design), they cannot compete with Android's open eco system for customization and overall task offerings. Quite frankly, you just cannot compare "apples to oranges.)
Benchmarks are just numbers that don't mean anything in real world use. Both tablets will perform pretty much identical when it comes to everyday functions

Youre always comparing the display using HDR content. It is a bit misleading since the oled display on the samsung is better for most other things, other than showing hdr10+ content. Also the reflectivity is not that significant unless you are literally using your tablet on the beach under direct sunlight, and who does that anyway? 90% of the time theyre gonna be used indoors where the reflection doesnt matter so much.
My response to this is just simply go and try those tablets for yourself under normal conditions. Ipad is much brighter if you maxed out the slider, yes. But in most realistic scenario, even using the s8+ or s8 ultra or whatever, you wouldnt max out the brightness, let alone the much brighter ipad. Your eyes just cant look at a screen that big, that bright continuously. And both set under normal usage which is typically around 200-250ish nits brightness, the amoled screen is far superior to the mini-led ipads. So in short, a brighter screen doesnt mean a superior screen.

If you really want an unbiased opinion, you should watch Tech Gear Talk videos instead of this. I mean I love this channel, its why I'm subscribed to them, BUT their infos are quite misleading some of the time and it's just unfair for the consumer who are really considering these 2 tablets, which probably most of you commenting here are not.

I almost cancelled my S8+ order after watching this video believing that it has grey blacks which I was unable to believe how because it has OLED panel. I thought might be because of poor antireflective coating. But believe me S8+ has deep blacks and OLED panel on this tab is quite impressive. Glad that my attempt to cancel the order of S8+ didn't work. I don't know why this guy gave a wrong info that blacks are grey on S8+.No wonder these Apple fan boys channel giving biased reviews on other products. Keep in mind we don't compare or use both of these side by side every minute. Outdoor visibility is not impressive but not bad and who carries a tab and use it in outdoors always under direct sunlight? Even in adequate sunlight and under normal light in room the S8+ is quite good and no issues. I think only in battery life iPad wins over S8+ but except that in everything else both are neck to neck. Functionality wise S8+ wins. The Dex mode, Notes app, Clip Studio app exclusive to Samsung are just awesome to tell a few.

When comparing you forgot to mention that the galaxy has face unlock, and about the spen you forgot to mention that it can be attached anywhere, also at the side. And it doesn't need any charge to work as pen but only to use the gestures which iPad doesn't have.

All that power is wasted on the iPad.

It’s a tuff call , both have pros and cons , and neither is close to perfect , probably buy both would solve the problem.
The iPads multitasking is half baked compared to the tab , the iPad costs an arm and a leg , the iPads accessories also cost an arm and a leg ,
Also for some of us , blooming is a serious issue , and if I remember correctly blooming gets worse if you are looking at it off angle, which sammys Oled does not in anyway suffer from.

The S pen which may have a slight bit more latency I suspect can do way more than apples gen 2 pen( which is also as expensive as hell).
In day to day life in which you have to live with the devices , the tab S8+ looks better to me even though I do like elements of the iPad..
I got tab s8 plus, size is perfect, screen awesome, best thing is I installed Adblock for Firefox and Samsung Internet, so much freedom compared to iPad, and it's cheaper, no brainer, Samsung is the way to go.

Ipad pro is meant to last 7-8 years, the power of ipad would not be much noticeable now but it would be useful later.
I used both the S-Pen and Apple Pencil and for note taking the S-Pen is way better. At least for me it has the right amount of friction so my handwriting looks and feels natural. Increasing pressure increases friction with the S-Pen. With the Apple Pencil it's not that way which feels really bad for writing. For drawing it may be different.
And I thought getting rid of friction was the best thing in life. I can’t handle a real pencil and paper anymore.
Only a few reviewers actually go into things like this Flossy Carter does. I wish it was less about numbers and comparing features on paper and more in actual usage. But that would mean actual use you know? And that's time consuming to actually consume a non Apple product when apple is their bread and butter money wise.

I don’t care about specifications as they mean very little. The iPad pro is far more powerful than the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 yet the Surface Pro is a far better machine for the majority of people, whether students, workers, business owners etc. I know as I made the change 3 months ago. I suspect the Samsung is a far better machine in that respect too. The more of these UA-cam videos I watch the more I realize these reviews are really just pointless and frivolous…. for bedroom hermits who just like to make videos about themselves, their lives, the anxiety they are experiencing, their diets, their cats etc… to put on UA-cam and TikTok.
How about actually discussing use cases of these machines: using office applications such as word documents and spreadsheets, connecting to printers, zoom video conferencing, connecting to external projectors / displays??

Freaking well said. Ipad is nice and fast, like a nice super car, tab S8 is also nice less fast but is like a G wagen, nice, fast, can be used in any terrain, can have more people then only two. If 65mph is all the speed I need, why would I buy a useless fast car.

iPad performance can't be touched. But the locked down nature of iPad OS makes it unbuyable for me. Multitasking on Samsung Dex makes it Tab S8+ a genuine laptop replacement option. Whereas on iPad, you can realisitically only open one or two full apps at a time. The iPad isn't better for working because of this. The sad part is, the iPad is not as good because Apple doesn't want it to be.
iPad could be a second display for PCs and could be a graphic tablet replacement as well as a pc replacement but yes being so locked by Apple makes it kinda like a really big iPod touch with the ability to do some light sketching and art on it and maybe some Netflix.
i know ipad pro is stupidly powerful but it's power can't be used in it's full potential like that of a tab s8 plus.

@Stelios Kapet Tab S7+ can be used as a secondary display as well out of the box. And not only with Windows ( Win+P ) but with the andriod phone, too. You can run Samsung DEX from your phone and use the tablet as screen and phone as keyboard/trackpad

The pen performance test was unfair because you used the apple pencil in Apple's notes app (its always the smoothest in the official notes app) and you didn't use Samsung notes for the S pen. It has a 2.8 millisecond response time so the delay is minimal

I had an ipad pro and traded it for the S8. I absolutely love the s8. Paid less than $600 and it came with the spen which is awesome. I use it often in dex mode as a legit laptop and also as a desktop when plugged into my monitor. One of the coolest devices I've owned. I'm hoping Apple gets innovative again. More speed and a better camera than last year's model needs to change.
With the new IpadOS 16 the pendulum swings to Ipad Pro M1. The Stage Manager finally add true external monitor support and real desktop like experience, then blews S8 (or S8+ and S8 Ultra) away with the superior M1 power. I’m agnostic when it comes to my computing platform, but I’ve to admit that the M1, and the subsequent M2, beat almost any other current offer in the market in terms of price vs performance

iPad Pro m1 is the best tablet on the market trust me. I use note 20 ultra for a phone but iPad m1 12.9 for tablet. The screen is better looking in UHD. Beautiful colors, faster, better software, the face recognition is insane. It sees my face if I’m laying sideways in a pitch black room. The camera can see your face even if your far away because the face recognition software can follow you, zoom or shrink your face to recognize it. It’s so handy. Only downside is wish it had micro SC hate the fact apple never adds that.
First I commented "I would be more interested in the comparison if it was the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra."; Then at 3:30 I saw that Max talked about it and hopefully we're gonna have that comparison very soon.

I have an Ultra on pre-order, but it seems to be badly delayed. I have an S7+, though, which is basically the S8+ with an older SoC. The S8+ is a good counterpart to the iPad Pro 12.9” while the Ultra doesn’t really have a counterpart in the Apple ecosystem. I’m hopeful the 14.6” isn’t too big. If it is, it’ll have to stay in its keyboard case all the time, essentially making it a laptop. I guess I’ll find out when it arrives. I do like my S7+ OLED screen, which I believe is identical in every way to the S8+. My only criticism is its max brightness. The effective brightness is maybe 300 nits, which is pretty useless in sunlight. The brightness is why I use my iPad so much more than the S7+. Unfortunately the Ultra’s display is no brighter than the S7+/S8+ screen. I figure I’ll use my Ultra mostly indoors.

The Tab S8 Plus is really good. S-pen included, SD Card and Dex. I think you get more value with that then an iPad Pro 12.9. As well Stage Manager doesn’t appear to be too good. I honestly think that Apple routinely talks their software designers into making something ‘close’ to a true operating system for an iPad but not exactly because if the iPad did run something like macOS it would hurt their MacBook sales. For Samsung, Dex is very close to a Windows like OS it’s not perfect for sure but very close. To summarize both are good, designed well, nice displays, you wouldn’t be disappointed with either but overall S8 Plus has more value and comes close to being able to replace your laptop.
I had an iPad air. Looking to the m2 pro. And I'm impressed with the S8+. The apple software doesn't impress me like android. It seems dated.

My GF ordered the tab S8 plus and having only owned iPads i was really impressed with it. I love my iPad, but i just hate how apple limits it with software. We have an M1, but honestly no apps will ever push it to the max. I know that apple does this to protect their sales of the MacBook airs.
Multitasking on the tab is a dream compared to the iPad.
I still cannot let go of my iPad, but if Samsung keeps up the good work in a few years things will be interesting. Competition is always good and I'm happy that Samsung and Apple push each other.

Geekbench is actually irrelevant nowadays on portable devices. In many speed tests (like phonebuff) android phones have actually beaten iphones in real world speed tests. Having both devices, I can assure you that both are damn near identical in speed when it comes to the vast majority of operations (I can't tell a difference). Hopefully people don't buy ipad pro because they think it is way faster than galaxy in real world usage (it's not).
The iPad is great, but you're paying for hardware that you can't utilize to it's fullest. If it was as flexible as the Samsung it would be amazing, but personally id just rather the S8+ or pro.
Somehow on Samsung Tabs browser is much slower than on iPads, even the most basic iPad is faster at browsing and doing my office work…

I'm personally not big on fold phones either, whether it's from Apple or not. It just doesn't address any of my immediate wants. It's still a novelty for now, until materials for a folding screen improves on durability

Tab S8+ is a solid tablet. Everything is customizable including the screen. I've already tweaked mine to 4K in par with my Qled TV and laptop. Speaking of TV I can turn my 12 inch screen to 50 inches just by connecting it to my TV with just 1 toggle from the notification panel and view it split screen with my live viewing content. Multitasking is at a whole other level with Tab S8+. There is no contest. The split screens and floating windows makes it unmatched by any tablet. And, less talk about the spen. You can turn volume up or down with a simple gesture, pause a video or take pictures. Even fast forward Playlist and not be near your device. The ability alone to make a gif out of a video such as this one and text or email it to someone is 1000% useful. Then there is the ability to grab and extract text to put anywhere is taking productivity well beyond what you could imagine. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what you can do. It's no contest. Samsung is innovation at this point.

If apple where to add similar multitasking options I would prefer my iPad Pro. Though you can’t easily play emulators or watch movie backups on the iPad, it has better first and third party software support.
I've been using an iPad pro for years now, when the tab S8 Ultra came out it instantly sold me. Yeah the iPad has better app support but the one that I really use is Clip Studio Paint. And with the new companion feature on CSP, Samsung just took the lead by tenfold. Yeah it's just a small feature but I've always wanted to use something like that. On top of that, iPad's aspect ratio has always been super annoying for me, there's never enough space horizontally.

I love the iPad, But reviews always seem to say that the M1 chip is being wasted, then in the same breath saying that other tablets can not match the performance. Benchmark performance is not real world performance if there’s nothing to utilize the power. 🤷🏽♂️

The S Pen has this strange thing where it changes the latency depending on which brush you're using also both have terrible latency in OneNote but by default the S Pen is way better than the apple pencil as it has a 2.8ms vs 9ms latency.

To me the pen placement on the S8 is much better. I can’t stand the top Mount on my iPad. The camera and mic seemed better with the Samsung and so does the OS with its multitasking ability. Everything else the iPad :). Now if we can get apple to bring back the split keyboard.
There's no point of the m1chip in the iPad since it can't be utilized. And OLED display on a tablet that big is amazing and the software from Samsung makes the tablet amazing for multitasking and productive work. Plus the s-pen is included and Dex turns it into a laptops replacement in a jiffy. It's not even a comparison

I don't actually care cuz i can't afford either but I am very impressed with the M1 ipad.

As an owner of a M1 Ipad Pro, that SSD write speed is essential in reducing wait times to off-load photos and documents. Further, Samsung is still hobbled by the lack of better Apps optimized for Tablet. Hoping these deficiencies will be addressed by Samsung in their next tablet upgrade to scare Apple.
Also an m1 iPad Pro user, i find it the exact opposite. Ipad OS is such a limitation it makes my ipad unusable for any real work, except lumafusion. And with luma coming to android(which is light years ahead in well pretty much everything) on top of being to run full desktop OS’s and dex mode its not even a competition. What’s the point of having the best performance if you cant use any of it.

Plus waiting for documents or photos to get transferred to ssd is a bummer without thunderbolt. thunderbolt allows you to daisy chain other peripherals too. another point to note is that the S8 does not hold its value in the long term. will wait for the s9.

I walked by one of these tablets at Best Buy. I could see the PWM on the screen. It was awful. I could not imagine using this everyday. I dont have that issue with the iPhone OLED.

@@eraldway they're the same display (both Samsung) & both use PWM. Frequency might be different though which means it affects people differently.
Were you using Samsung Notes? Because that application can take full advantage of 2.8ms latency of the spen. And because of that, spent has much much lower lag than apple pencil. Biased reviews lost you a sub.
The Tab S8s are actually running at a lower frequency than the S22s since the Tab S8s are thinner than the S22s meaning that they can't fit cooling solutions as mentioned by MKBHD in his review....

It’s a Snapdragon chip, which is in the same class as the A Series, not M Series. The latest SD Gen8 isn’t as fast as the comparable A Series, so it wouldn’t come close to the M1

This guy is just an apple fanboy. The review seems extremely biased to me. I have never heard anyone say the blacks on an oled screen look grey. OLED's strength is definitely in a darker room, and understandably it doesn't get as bright as lcd in order to avoid burn ins, but grayish black is just false. Hopefully the comparison between the iPad Pro and s8 ultra is more impartial.

But if you know anything about OLED you’d know that every pixel is able to turn off and on individually, so the blacks on an OLED are literally turned off pixels, how can turned off pixels be grey ?
Edit: most other s8+ reviewers literally pick the s8+/s8 ultra for media consumption. And the input delay on the s8 is 2.9ms compared to 9ms in the iPad, but this guy claims the iPad is more responsive. Basically his comparison is bs. I agree with your point on the screens but go watch other reviews before finalizing.

I have the 2018 iPad Pro 11 and because of relocating and not having a Windows laptop with me I’ve switched over to the iPad for work. After 6 months of using the iPad with Windows Office products, viewing and editing PDF’s, and MS Teams I’ve realized that there are a few issues that really bug me about using it for professional work. These are the camera position, the multitasking isn’t as good as using Windows, file management, and no proper external monitor support. Btw, in my opinion until the iPad can properly utilize an external monitor Apple should drop the “Pro” from it’s name. Lately, I have been using my S21 5G and DEX for external monitor support and I love it. At this point, the only thing keeping me from switching over to a Samsung Tablet is the fact that I haven’t found a PDF editing program on Android that’s as good as PDF Expert Pro on the iPad. Sorry, I got lost in my iPad Pro rant, but great video on the S8+! I’ve be looking at the Tab S7 11 inch for awhile now and when Android has a PDF app that I like I’ll probably go that route.
Here is the thing, the reason why apple is still winning in the tablet category is because of software. Alot of people may say that ipad os is limited compare to its android counterpart. True but that is only in interface level. Ipad's apps is miles better than android. It is simply a chicken and egg analogy. Ipad holds majority of the market so more developer create/develop apps for that devices, if apps improve more user will come and so on. Google simply doesnt care much with tablet but we will see with its upcoming tablet if things change.

The S8 ultra is the only that have the 2.8 ms of it's pen latency. The S- pen of the regular S8 and S8+ still have 9 ms of latency.
The S8+ and S8 Ultra have the same lower latency of 2.8 MS, the prior post is incorrect. I have not noticed any latency in my S8+, it works very well. Feels great and easy to write.

Great video. I think I will stick with my M1 iPad Pro 11. It has actually replaced my MacBook Pro for my Real Estate/Property management business. Dex is a neat trick but that's all it is. A neat trick that lets you run mobile Android apps in a windows type environment that mimics a laptop experience.
What system did you use dex on? I have felt it to be very useful when I want to do something on my TV. It actually uses the whole screen too.

Lol so lets get this straight..you DONOT pay just the cost of iPad here.
You have to pay for the iPad + Pencil + Keyboard + AppleCare+ (I don't know how none considers this significant cost) which is totally illogical to spend on a tablet when you can't even fully use the power. Of course the M1 destroyed the Snappdragon because its literally the same processor Apple uses on their laptops lol. That's like putting a Ryzen Threadripper on a tablet.
On the other hand Samsung is giving you the S Pen and the keyboard free of cost and the SamsungCare+ is much cheaper than AppleCare+ and with many promotional programs the S8+ will cost even cheaper.
When you look at the final price of both, the iPad costs you almost twice that of the S8+
Do you really wanna spend so much on a tablet or would you rather buy the S8+ and buy the Tab S9+ next year with the money you saved?

Your comparison tests seem very biased favoring Apple products.
2 times faster on a random benchmark about browsing speed is not representative of everyday use.
It takes less than a second for a page to load. Two times faster means less than half a second, which makes it no difference at all. Percentage wise, it is something, but will you ever notice it? When you try to re-load the page it may be faster or slower depending on other more important things, like the Internet Speed, Updates running on background, the webpage itself, your location, the signal of Wifi etc.
This is why benchmarks are always something not worthy to rely on these days. They were great a few (10 maybe) years back, when Apps where much more simple, with less adds, less "fuss" going on. But right now, at 2022, with so much bloatware on everything, constant updates, variable adds on websites and social media... It doesn't make much sense to rely on a random number for measuring the everyday responsiveness of a device.
Everyone on the Internet agrees that the S-pen provides a more hand-writting on paper experience. The Apple pencil feels like drawing on glass with those "tok-tok" sounds like writing on a school board. You need to buy a special screen protector, that will make handwriting a better experience, but will also make the display look worse, not to mention the damage that's gonna cause to the apple pencil. And I haven't yet managed to place a screen protector without at least a couple of "bobbles" that refuse to go away. You prefer not to mention these facts.

The song is what it is. The purpose of a device is to represent the song as it is. More bass or higher volume might make it better or worse. That is not the job of the device to fix. There are applications for that purpose. The same goes for the cameras at 14:57. There is no such thing as "best". The "best" is the one closer to reality. Your face is white-beige based on the rest of the video's footage. Not orange as seen with Apple's saturation. Another example is the light source on the left. Not much needed to say here.
The cost of Android applications is minimal (or zero) compared to the apple store. The apps you gonna use, will always depend on your ecosystem. In USA most professionals seem to prefer Apple since it's a local thing, you get deals from stores like Bestbuy or Amazon or Apple itself... There are no Stores like these in Europe. In Europe most companies have Windows desktops, since there is no "serious" Apple customer care or service.

There are State of the Art desktop keyboards that cost 200€ and are considered expensive. With dozens of reviews by PC typing enthusiasts who struggle to justify the cost. I have an 12.9 M1 iPad Pro and I love it. My only complaint is the width of the devic. Its just too much for some of my use cases.
The width of the device?? There are SO many cases for the 12.9”. I’m on it now & it’s by far the most superior tablet.

For those of you don’t know any better, 🤷🏽 I don’t know what Max is talking about when it comes to the display of these two… I own both the IPad Pro 12.9, and the Tab S7+5G, and in reality, it isn’t even close. First of all, nobody is going to be watching movies or videos in direct sunlight, or directly under any kind of glaring light flat down. You put a case with a stand on it, and it’s a whole different story. Also, you will never even max out the brightness on the Tab, halfway is plenty. Additionally, you can adjust the Oled display mode from Natural, to Vivid, and in Advanced mode you can give it crazy richness! Way more shadow detail, depth of color and immersion in the Tab…

Because of Apple's closed eco system (by purposeful design), they cannot compete with Android's open eco system for customization and overall task offerings. Quite frankly, you just cannot compare "apples to oranges.)
Benchmarks are just numbers that don't mean anything in real world use. Both tablets will perform pretty much identical when it comes to everyday functions

Youre always comparing the display using HDR content. It is a bit misleading since the oled display on the samsung is better for most other things, other than showing hdr10+ content. Also the reflectivity is not that significant unless you are literally using your tablet on the beach under direct sunlight, and who does that anyway? 90% of the time theyre gonna be used indoors where the reflection doesnt matter so much.

My response to this is just simply go and try those tablets for yourself under normal conditions. Ipad is much brighter if you maxed out the slider, yes. But in most realistic scenario, even using the s8+ or s8 ultra or whatever, you wouldnt max out the brightness, let alone the much brighter ipad. Your eyes just cant look at a screen that big, that bright continuously. And both set under normal usage which is typically around 200-250ish nits brightness, the amoled screen is far superior to the mini-led ipads. So in short, a brighter screen doesnt mean a superior screen.

And no matter how max and his brothers (and sister) are saying 'unbias comparison' and all that, it's clear that his content and methods of testing favors apple device a lot. If you really want an unbiased opinion, you should watch Tech Gear Talk videos instead of this. I mean I love this channel, its why I'm subscribed to them, BUT their infos are quite misleading some of the time and it's just unfair for the consumer who are really considering these 2 tablets, which probably most of you commenting here are not.
