I have her. Won the 50/50 once more after Blade. Also, TLDR she's a wanted criminal. The organization she's a part of is trying their best so that the universe lives, even if it has to come at the expense of some people. That's why they have massive bounties. With her release all known members are now playable: Silverwolf, Blade, Kafka. Elio, their leader, and a member named Sam haven't been shown yet.
SPOILER WARNING, read at your discretion: her boss can see the ramifications of the future, he can choose which future is the best for him and his group and make it happen forcefully, or at least that's how's explained for now in the game, so she's not fate, she's an agent that can help to solidify a future, and under her boss guidance she knows that what she is doing can't harm her, that's why you see her so unfazed, she don't need to fear anything, she knows already she'll succeed.
I am not pulling for Kafka, I am waiting for a character referred to as Imbibitor Lunae. He doesn't have a trailer yet but if you look up HSR's "Samudrartha" video, that one is basically all about him.
I think you missed the significance of the elevator (which you called a clock). It wasn’t just “going down” - it was a life counter. Every time she killed someone the elevator went down a floor until it finally reached the ground floor.
My reaction was: "How the hell are people even seeing a clock? The digits are in completely the wrong orientation to be a clock or watchface..." 😅 EDIT: It definitely works as a symbolic countdown towards death or a life counter. It was just immediately obvious to me that it was not a clock.
Something I've noticed a lot of people not noticing but a HUGE influence on this trailer is Rorschach images you will see ink blots spotted throughout the trailer. Kafka is the embodiment of the first card The Fear Card. The fear card can be commonly viewed as a butterfly or moth. The entire point of the test is to understand how important interpretation is to psychology. You could even say it's asking us to take a deeper look at Kafka, the trailer literally asks us "What do you see?" The fear card can also be seen as "The body of a woman with large breasts and outstretched arms." The splash art they use at the start actually lines up with the shapes of the fear card, her coat really enunciates that shape. But that isn't all the design on the back of her coat itself is also designed after the fear card, the spider grows into that shape, especially once you start to see where threads of her power start to connect with the design. Kafka is an actress who is actually more trapped in the web of fate than anyone, but that is exactly why she knows just how to make it dance for her. I believe she has used her mind control on herself in order to dissolve her identity and play the role of the villain, each person she kills is counting down to the moment she finally gets exactly what she wants.
This, thanks to my man is exactly what I am looking for. As a psychology fan I know Rorsharch test is a important tool for evaluating a person's personality, however this level of relationship to Kafka's design down to her garments is something I did not expect to find out.
I think it would honestly be really cool seeing her get what she wants and her cry in joy, pain and pleasure all mixed into one by being hit by all that emotion at once
The reason the recent honkai characters have bounties is because they are from an organization known as the stellaron hunters, considered terrorists by the greater intergalactic governments. They work for someone called Elio, who is a prophet, with the intent to achieve a specific fated outcome. She also created the main character, not birthed. So by technicality she's the mother of the player. Though an absent one. So interesting all the spider symbology and how that could reflect on the players relationship with the character.
The way Kafka acts it’s almost as if she’d prefer to be hated by the MC. That being said, “my MC” doesn’t - her interactions with other characters when given the choice are somewhat “Kafka-esque”, and when Kafka is discussed or when talking with Kafka, my choices represent a “longing” after Kafka by “my MC”.
Okay, this will be lengthy but I will try to structure it a bit. 1. Bounties. The reason you've seen them in the trailers is because Blade, Silver Wolf and Kafka are all members of the Stellaron Hunters which is a group regarded as a terroist organization and wanted throughout. 2. Stellaron Hunters. The group is lead by a man name Elio who allegedly has prophetic powers and has seen the universe's End. He sends his crew out on cryptic missions to manipulate events in order to push toward what he sees as the most promising future. Kafka is effectively his right hand, the Hand of Fate as it were. 3. Kafka. To keep it short, she's a sociopath who doesn't know what fear is. She is apparently incapable of the emotion. She has the ability to mentally dominate others and it's usually presaged by her using the words "Listen to me." This is why she has all the spider silk imagery as though she were a puppeteer at the center of a web. This is why in the beginning of the trailer all of the guards are shooting each other while she casually strolls through the chaos conducting some unheard symphony.
@@Carobug Not that it's a big deal, but Herta describes Elio as "A maniac who claims he can see destiny, leading a bunch of wild lunatics in pursuit of the most dangerous objects in the universe!"
Yo I think they actually went even deeper than that. I think Kafka is a persona not a real person. She is literally a Kafkaesque character created within Elio's script and played by an actress who is willing to turn her own fear into experience, into an act. Kafka is willing to play the puppeteer but she is still just a slave to destiny. Kafka isn't wearing her coat when she's in the silk. Because that's the real Kafka, the one that's kind to Trailblazer. She has become one with fear by erasing the self (The Path of Nihility)
@@luigidude100 I am not saying there is no merit to this because this is Hoyoverse and references such as using the name "Kafka" are always well thought-out and deliberate. What I AM saying is that is all too much for my brain and it will only ever be speculation until Hoyoverse gives us a closer look at Elio and his crew.
The Vivaldi remix sent me to outer space!! It's also a throwback to the opening cutscene when you start the game and Kafka plays a mean "Air Violin" solo while chaos ensues on the space station lmao xD
Thank you I'm not the only one who noticed that the trailer is almost as if its referencing the Hotel Sequence from John Wick 3. From Vivaldi to a kind of Hotel setting and that 1 versus all fight. So fitting too.
The game opens with Kafka playing an imaginary violin during a massive attack on a space station. She is cold, sociopathic, dangerous, and loves the finer things. She works for someone who can see the future and tells her what to do, so the threads of fate and film terms about controlling the plot are very appropriate.
If you want to know why Kafkas all about fate is because her group the Stellaron Hunters (consisting of Kafka, Blade, Silver Wolf and some others) is all about following “the script” which their leader Elio writes which is meant to be the written future, Kafka is always speaking in riddles about fate and the future because well.. she believes is her job in this world because of the script. (Sorry if this is confusing or if I missed anything lol 👍) Just wanted to explain that for anyone who might be confused ❤. Edit: what I mean by following the script is that they make the written future actually happen, when you were saying “she’s fate/creating fate” I believe that’s why the trailer would make people think that.
Kafka isn't the weaver of fate or destiny- but she is the one who does all the leg work and talking. She's informed, not all-powerful. Strictly speaking she only knows of destiny what Elio tells her- and things of that nature are kept on a need-to-know basis for good reason. c:
Another thing thats very good about this trailer is that all of her in game abilities are actually used in this trailer. Especially her ultimate at 16:10
Something I don't think I've seen a lot of people talking about is that Kafka herself, in game, is passionate about classical music and movies so they did a great job tying it into her trailer, like when she was conducting with her fingers as she marched through the chaos or all the movie references. There's even a text message from her you can get in the game if you have her unlocked where she laments that she's alone in a theatre and that she thought the movie she was seeing would have more fans.
Omg I’m so glad you saw the reference for no country for old man! I’ve been scrolling the comments in the original video, and I thought it was crazy that no one mentions it😭
I have a theory that *POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD* based on how we got to Xianzhou Luofu and how things happened, I believe Elio, supposedly the one controlling everything behind the curtain, MIGHT be just a narrative device, maybe, created by Kafka to have more leverage and credibility when talking (as far as we know Elio tells things to Kafka and she assigns the missions to the other two Stellaron hunters we know, heck! Elio might be her pet cat that we see on the splash art!) while she is, just like Franz Kafka, the writer and therefore also the storyteller, while we are the doll the girl lost and the trailblazing and the path of Akivili the stories Kafka told the girl about the doll's journey, after all, with all her references to destiny and being superior and threads she weave could pull and manipulate and her whisper thing to manipulate others and how she is so controlling and manipulative and always get things to go her way, it would make sense she is the great orchestrator behind everything, I believe she might be like Shakespeare in Fate Apocrypha whose power was something like "controlling the events taking place by writing the play" or something like that, I'm not totally sure except she is not literally a magical writer but she seems to be more like taking action, doing things herself and moving the pieces and pulling the strings and somehow controlling or altering the flow of information or the information that flows...
It’s an interesting idea but we pretty much know Elio is an actual person. The IPC has listed him as Destiny’s Slave and he’s the only Stellaron Hunter that is only wanted alive. Kafka also had her mind read by Fu Xuan and we know she doesn’t have all the details of the future only what Elio has told her. I would recommend checking out her new story quest dialogues, she reveals a lot. She’s following Elio‘s script as his second in command in the organization.
This trailer perfectly encapsulates everything about her character, her elegance shown from the classical music used, the John Wick feeling you get from it really fits her occupation of being a bounty hunter, and all of the little details throughout, the clock is actually an elevator and it goes down a floor for each kill, almost like she's descending down into hell. This could be referencing part of her lore, she comes from a world where people can't feel fear, eventually succumbing to desires and becoming "devils". As for the spider motifs and the overall theme of destiny, it relates to how she is in a group known as the Stellaron Hunters, wanted criminals led by a person who can see all possible futures. They are working behind the shadows to produce the final outcome they want. So they are pretty much weaving destiny, hence her spider motif.
Zhongli was only the beginning, and the entire reason I started paying attention to their games. They have done SO much good since that, with only a couple of low points when it comes to cinematics and character trailers.
I think from a purely story telling and symbolic point this trailer nails it on the head with the idea of the Moirai. the first thing she says to the MC within second off meting fits the theme as well and i just cant give enough credit for the writing team attached to this project. "The next stop is to pave the way for the future that is written It's like brocade, You and i can only add one gold thread each time time but eventually we will make a gorgeous pattern"
Classical music is kind of her 'thing' it seems. When the game first opens up in the very beginning scene classical music is playing at it shows her miming playing a violin in an elevator (nice callback in her trailer to being an elevator again, lol) while chaos is erupting around the facility she's at (though at least in that case she's not the one causing it).
Hi! Bumped into your vid thanks to YT algorithm at work and I just wanted to answer some of your questions about Kafka. MiHoyo really is awesome about creating their characters and Kafka, imo, is one of the complicated and intricate ones in game. She's part of a group called the Stellaron Hunters. They're a group who's collecting 'Stellarons', known as the Cancer of All Worlds, that brings chaos and destruction to any world it manage to land on. Still no info as to why their group are trying to collect them.🤔 It actually delighted me that you got the references spot on, and you pointed out things in the trailer that I missed and made me speculate more on the lore of HSR and about Kafka's group. The amazing thing is, Kafka's leader, Elio, is said to have the power to see destiny and their group are also called "Destiny's Slave" because of it. They even have in-game reference of Elio having 'a script' of what will happen, or what's going to happen, with the universe, the main character and the people around him/her. Kafka is one of Elio's trusted member. She also has the power of persuasion? mental control? I would say. They call it 'Spirit Whisper' where if Kafka utter the words 'Listen to me...' then whatever she says after those you'd automatically do. I'm guessing, with all those spider web references, she's the spider weaving all those webs on behalf of Elio, cause she's following Elio's script, as game lore would have it. She's not the one controlling per se, but I think she's one of those people that makes "the plot" move along since they're also referencing to movies. I would say MiHoyo is one those game companies that makes amazing lore on their game and characters. Didn't pull for Kafka though, I'm waiting for another amazing character to drop. Hope you'll also react or critic on their trailer in the future if you have time. Added 1 subscriber to your account. 😌☺💖 Edit: If the trailers you've been watching peaked your interest I really recommend you play the game if you have available time just for the game lore. It's actually awesome and leaves you wanting for more.
The clock is actually numbers on an elevator. Her power lets her dig into peoples minds. I took that bit as her winding deeper into someone’s mind. Kinda reminded me of inception. The text in the intermission points toward her being the McGuffin. She’s the object moving the plot along to its end. And to that end she basically started the game, and brought us to our most recent plot point. Her reason being to shape the future in a way that’s beneficial to her, and her group.
I don't think MacGuffin is refered to her, she's very valuable no matter how you look at it. If anything, MacGuffin is more fitting either to Stellaron or to MC. Also she doesn't shape the future that's "beneficial to her", she follows Elio's script to make the best future to the Universe, otherwise the Universe will be destroyed by Nanook.
Hers setting was from a planet that had no sense of fear, then hers boss now was a person that having foresight of future, so she is always follow his boss instruction to make sure all future hers boss mention was still going as observed
Also when Kafka said "wanna take a guess" to the guy on the wall before they cut into the next shot you can actually hear a gunshot which indicates that she shot him :)
I was looking forward to your analysis of this!! This trailer is stunning!! Kafka came home in 20 pulls! I have no materials to level her but I'm so happy 😂
The part of the elevator. I saw it more like a reference to “Dante’s hell”, like for every sin you do you go down another floor of hell (because for him hell was divided by 9 circles of hell) and she was in an elevator making my theory more consistent because she’s going down.
I've been skimming through some of the comments here, but I haven't seen it mentioned. You talked about spiders and silk, but Kafka herself very heavily resembles a black widow spider. She wears black and red, her coat has the stylized image of a spider, her gloves have a web pattern and her small round glasses on her head gives her the image of a spider's multiple eyes. A "black widow" is a woman who lures in men and kills them, in popular culture. Kafka is beautiful, part of a criminal organization and a wanted killer with a huge bounty on her head. Even her skills reflect that: In her boss fight she can hypnotize/mind control an enemy. She also has an attack that uses her red strings (webs).
the webs are something like a visualization of her ability called the spirit whisper which when activated makes everyone follow her commands, kind of like mind control. Other than that, she has no powers and her abilities come from Elio instead who is the leader of the Stellaron Hunters, the most powerful crime organization in the universe and Elio has been blessed/cursed with the power to see all possible futures and he uses the Stellaron Hunters like Silver Wolf, Kafka, Blade and Sam to ensure the universe goes down a specific path. In the false credits that the game has if you just straight up reject the invitation to travel the galaxy with the Astral Express crew, Elio is literally credited as the writer of the story. Kafka's skills to perfectly ricochet bullets and other incredibly precise things seem to be just from knowing the "script" so well that she can predict everything with near perfect accuracy
You have a pretty good grasp of Kafka from your initial viewing- Kafka has consigned her life as a pawn to a prophet named Elio, who has been attempting to get their universe (among the multiverse) to align with some idyllic path, that he has withheld from Kafka. But, Kafka believes in his cause, and has been the acting force for making Elio's prophecy come true. She's been actively intervening in the universe to make certain events happen, through direct intervention or guiding others, in the hopes that this universe can align correctly. Also fun fact, and you'll know more about this than me, but if you recall your Graduation Trip video... When Star Rail begins, she is playing the transition from that conclusion of the Impact 3rd story, into the beginning of the Star Rail story- and her first Eidolon (unlockable ability) is called Da Capo
One of the best analysis (considering you're not plating the game and don't know the character) I've seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on composition, cinema, references and direction, as always. As someone who plays the game I noticed after watching this video some stuff I didn't see before, making everything more interesting. I'm excited to see where the story goes from here-
Something almost no one notices is after she goes down a floor in the ELEVATOR (not a clock) for the first time, she actually chucks her katana into someone's head, which is why she uses the uzi's for a while until she picks up the katana later
she also has a ton of reference to other games for example her sword is pretty similar to the murasama the blade of jetstream sam in metal gear rising her guns are a reference to ibonny and ivory the guns of dante from dmc and she also say's she is a devil hunter wich is dante's job
She isn't Fate, but she works for someone who can predict the future (and all of its possibilities) and who is trying to change the current fate of the universe.
The petals is their blood kinda like jhin where he sees blood as rose or art while kafka is elegant and clean kills. Or maybe to keep it age restrict haha
I'm so glad I got her. Kafka truly is a force go be reckoneded with. You cannot outplay her. You can try, but you will fail. Fate cannot be avoided is her entire ideology and it reflects in everything.
So a huge part of her character in game is that when she goes on a mission she’s following the “script” of what’s going to happen. Now I’m putting together that all the clock images are her following her choreography to the second as she fights all those guys
For me the scenes with her in the corridors going on a rampage that to me feels like and inception reference because she can manipulate the minds of other and it feels like she is going through the different levels of your subconscious layer by layer
In a nutshell, Kafka is one of the Stellaron hunters, a group of special, hand picked individuals which are considered as intergalactic terrorists by the rest of the Honkai Star Rail universe but if you ask them, they're just pawns, blindly following the orders of their boss, Elio, a prophet of sorts. Elio helps them with their personal problems in exchange of helping him reach his goal, whether it may appear as terrorism or not to those outside their organization. 😁
3:07 it's true that she kind of is the destiny bc she's the one meting out the actions needed for everything to fall into place I personally feel like the projector is a representation of Elio's script that she's following and then when the parts she's been given ends, she makes her own choices like the scene with the coin flip
this video made me realise that her glasses resemble arachnid eyes; with them being the big pair and her real eyes being the smaller set beneath them. spiders and sharks deep black eyes have an eeriness to them. in my mind they represent innocence and callousness
Ever since I saw Kafka's character design, I always wondered about her eyes. She's always had a kind of eerie, un-human like quality to them that was always a bit unnerving. She doesn't have any 'pupils' like most the characters I've seen in Star Rail. At first, I thought it was just an anime design choice for her since that's not unheard of and a rather common occurrence. But now that I'm seeing all the spider symbolism, I'm convinced that they were going for that sort of design instead. Cases in point, the eyes of Charlotte in the old Charlotte's Web cartoon or even Lucas the spider in that CGI short movie from some years back. She's a Drider from a DnD campaign in disguise, and I love it.❤
I didn't understand about the reference about silk of fate, feel really cool to know that. I guess that's why they decided on a spider design for Kafka, because spider weaves silk and the reference to silk of fate/destiny as you mentioned. The lore is she isn't the one controlling the destiny, but she IS "following a script" of destiny provided by another person that can see the endless possibilities of the future. This guy provides the script to get the future that he wants, and Kafka is the person (well with other teammates as well) to execute the script, affecting the present to the most minute details to affect the outcomes. Also, she has an ability called "psychological suggestion" that basically allows her to control people briefly to do what she tells them to do. That's what she did when she said "listen to me, aren't you the ones who invited me?" That's also why the video is depicting the people are trapped in her webs, because she is controlling them like literally. As to why there are "intermission" and "MacGuffin", it's because Kafka isn't like the "main actor" in the play from the "script" of destiny. Kafka is doing these things in the background to affect the future of the "main actor" (which is us the players playing the protagonist). So her actions are a minor plot point, affecting what happens in the world and creating ripple effects that finally affect our protagonist, thus influencing our actions such that we, too, follow the script. This is also mentioned directly in-game when our protagonist is doing one of the main quests. As for "non-linear structure" and "oneiric structure", I'm not sure what they refer to.
Really good insight as always. You're right, there's no way they haven't been inspired by stuff like John Wick. My favorite part is when the bass kicks in and we get the big set piece of the video. I've never seen no country for old men, but the part with the coin is still chilling. Unfortunately, I've lost interest in the game since the November release date announcement on Playstation. I pulled Seele and got about halfway thru the first planet, but 6+ months is too long.
Her theme is spiders, hence all that imagery. Even her glasses on her head are like spider eyes. But also, she has the ability to control others with her voice. At the beginning when she said "Listen" that is her like spell word for her ability, she's the one making them fight each other. And she's not really related to fate or anything like that herself - She just follows Elio who is the one that can see the different futures and writes down the "scripts" of what choices need to be made for the outcomes they need. She is following "destiny" ie Elio, and even calls her self Destiny's Slave. Their group is a rebellious/outlaw kind of group call the Stellaron Hunters, and they all have bounties on their heads. We don't know exactly what they are trying to do, only that they are trying to change destiny, with Elio's instruction, to get to a specific outcome. Most of the other groups we've met with considers the Stellaron Hunters as bad people hence the wanted/bounty status of the group - but I think they are more likely vigilante anti-hero types, relatively good even if they do bad things in order to save the universe probably. That's my theory anyways
noticed some of the words on a reaction i watched. but other than macguffin i did not know what they meant other than being film making references by proxy of maguffin being a film making reference. so like the character herself i knew something was up with those words but could not explain it
Kafka controls our plot but she isn't spider, she is web that spider-Elio weave. Her POV is also distorted because she comes from the world that knows no fear
Just started watching your analyses and you do a great job... but is that VA-11 Hall-A music in the beginning? Nobody's mentioned it yet and it's one of my favorite game soundtracks, and games, of all time.
I never thought its a reference to "No Country for Old Men it's that grocery store scene with the cashier/owner huh? That scene was intense AF and i never put it together because yknow... this is far off from what it was referencing and the trailer was so good it probably didnt connect in my mind
Star Rail is a legit really great game, not even just for a gacha game. Kafka is an amazing character for sure, very fun to play. Got her on my last 10 pull, after I saved up for 2 months to get her! Good luck pulling boys. Great video and analysis!
She has to be the best character currently in the game IF you use her right. If you don't use her secondary, regardless of element, she can seem weak. Her secondary is DoT regardless of element and very powerful, often more powerful than the main attack, when used against an enemy with lightning weakness. I saw a DoT damage of 4200 when the main attack was around 200. All of her attacks is quite high for a battle against lightning weakness enemies, as expected.
calling her "fate" was really close, shes more akin to a tool/weapon of fate. her boss, elio (other comments have talked about him enough so im only gonna say a small bit), will foresee a path to the group's ideal future, and then he scripts out their missions and they act accordingly, following his script to the letter
Kafka is probably tte most awaited character and I think will be the character the most wished on. I’m on the fence tho, I want the next 5 star coming up and I was expecting to get jing yuan ( another electro 5star) in a couple months. But I’m in desperate need of an electro character, and apparently she is better than jing yuan dps wise…😭 Ps: I think Kafka is from a Italian inspired « region/planet »
Wow this goes beyond a reaction video… this is more of an analysis video because Jesus Christ you involved Greek mythology and it actually made sense?? Wow… but aren’t the moirae only 3 goddesses? Why 1000 faces?
Love the video. But is it just me or is the English Dub just not doing it? Definitely recommend watching the JP dub because I think the VA in that one totally makes the second half of this character. It has an elegance to it. The cracking voice of the English one detracts imo. Lmk what you think if you watch the other.
The JP sounds like a generic hentai voice actress, no offence but it doesn't fit her at all in my opinion, the en makes her sound more badass, in control and mysterious.
@@dzintars8034 Interesting to hear a different take. I think you might be projecting a little bit though. I guess I'm not watching hentai like you to really agree or disagree with how you say her voice sounds but she's done some roles I recognize from animes like Food Wars in particular. One of my favorite characters that fits her voice perfectly in the same way i feel she does for Kafka. To me the JP voice is one that makes someone feel strung along, mysterious, and in control. That's exactly like Makima from Chainsaw Man. These two characters are very similar in this regard. The voices aren't too far off each other either. I'd be curious to see what others think though
I think English sounds the best mostly because she sounds bored. And battle would be boring for her cause she has no fear. Its more lively while we were talking to her while captured cause really the MC is one of the few things that interests her. Food Wars is basically hentai btw lols
@@pilau1749 there was a lot of fan service for sure but they never stuck it in! That's where I'm drawing the line lol. But you know what I mean. I'm going off the parental rating.
@@Alcaatraz01 I gotta agree with @dzintars8034 I wouldn't necessarily call it a hentai voice, but it is very much a stereotypical mature ara ara character voice. I like JP in some regards, but JP dub sometimes tends to have less variance in the voices that they choose to do (sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse). For Kafka, it seems EN went more cool and badass whereas JP went more mommy. Both are good, but the EN wins pretty easily for me.

when u start Star Rail for the 1st 20 or so minutes its from her perspective and u play as her and Silverwolf.

Thanks for pointing this out! Almost everyone who's reacted to this has said that it was a clock, and the metaphor was lost a bit.
My reaction was:
"How the hell are people even seeing a clock? The digits are in completely the wrong orientation to be a clock or watchface..." 😅
EDIT:
It definitely works as a symbolic countdown towards death or a life counter. It was just immediately obvious to me that it was not a clock.
@@MBrandr I mean, 24-hour clocks do exist, but in this case it was clear it was an analog dial for an elevator.
It looks awfully similar to the elevator in Cobb s Limbo in inception
Caught it on my third rewatch, never felt so mentally slow
Something I've noticed a lot of people not noticing but a HUGE influence on this trailer is Rorschach images you will see ink blots spotted throughout the trailer. Kafka is the embodiment of the first card The Fear Card. The fear card can be commonly viewed as a butterfly or moth. The entire point of the test is to understand how important interpretation is to psychology. You could even say it's asking us to take a deeper look at Kafka, the trailer literally asks us "What do you see?"
The fear card can also be seen as "The body of a woman with large breasts and outstretched arms." The splash art they use at the start actually lines up with the shapes of the fear card, her coat really enunciates that shape.
I think it would honestly be really cool seeing her get what she wants and her cry in joy, pain and pleasure all mixed into one by being hit by all that emotion at once
the trailer also seems to use a lot of the classic illusion pictures you learn in psychology(like the white dots with the black contrasts)
thats actually REALLY cool, imma research that later
The reason the recent honkai characters have bounties is because they are from an organization known as the stellaron hunters, considered terrorists by the greater intergalactic governments. They work for someone called Elio, who is a prophet, with the intent to achieve a specific fated outcome. She also created the main character, not birthed. So by technicality she's the mother of the player. Though an absent one. So interesting all the spider symbology and how that could reflect on the players relationship with the character.
Honkai Star Rail. Be specific.

@@jdoggivjcI didn't get that feel from Kafka, and I also don't play my character as antagonistic to her when given the chance.
When he recognized Vivaldi before the drop, I switched to the gaming pose.
@@CarobugElio is referenced with he him pronouns in game
@@CrestofGautiera dude, yea, we know! 😂
Edit: what I mean by following the script is that they make the written future actually happen, when you were saying “she’s fate/creating fate” I believe that’s why the trailer would make people think that.
and for kafka, she is usually the one with the most to do with following the script, because she can make people do stuff with her spirit whisper
Elio might be her pet cat that we see on the splash art!) while she is, just like Franz Kafka, the writer and therefore also the storyteller, while we are the doll the girl lost and the trailblazing and the path of Akivili the stories Kafka told the girl about the doll's journey, after all, with all her references to destiny and being superior and threads she weave could pull and manipulate and her whisper thing to manipulate others and how she is so controlling and manipulative and always get things to go her way, it would make sense she is the great orchestrator behind everything, I believe she might be like Shakespeare in Fate Apocrypha whose power was something like "controlling the events taking place by writing the play" or something like that, I'm not totally sure except she is not literally a magical writer but she seems to be more like taking action, doing things herself and moving the pieces and pulling the strings and somehow controlling or altering the flow of information or the information that flows...
i think a member of the stelleron hunters is sam, aka the cat
Sam is a robot/android@@princ3ss_fschl195
I thought HoYoverse could never make a trailer better than Zhongli's but DAMN- THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST TRAILER THEY HAVE EVER MADE
have you seen the dehya trailer 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢🥵🥵🥵
Yeah i agree
Raiden shogun PV is also pretty good, and Nahida too
What about best girl Nahida?
Great analysis dude! I LOVED this trailer and the Music is sooo good.
Edit: If the trailers you've been watching peaked your interest I really recommend you play the game if you have available time just for the game lore. It's actually awesome and leaves you wanting for more.
🎻 *Vivalid - Winder* 🎻is such a perfect, agressive, devious pieace to play for Kafka. So fitting. Especially the ending, it's so epic! 👏
From Winter I to Summer III transition is actually smooth after the remix and I love it!
@@kuyarence True, true. 🙏
I always look forward to your analysis. Kafka trailer is one of the best they've made. Great video as always 👍
6:02 the patterns symbolize concepts such as psychoanalysis and hypnosis. It's a clever way to indicate Kafka's hypnotic power.
One extra detail, I think the elevators counting down are showing how many guards are left alive
I counted as second. Except for the last second...i think you are right
Nice that you recognized Vivaldi instantly... A lot people who reacted didnt mention it
I've been skimming through some of the comments here, but I haven't seen it mentioned.
Really enjoyed hearing how you dissected this!! I haven't watched No Country For Old Men but I might just have to. Great video, subbed!
the webs are something like a visualization of her ability called the spirit whisper which when activated makes everyone follow her commands, kind of like mind control. Kafka's skills to perfectly ricochet bullets and other incredibly precise things seem to be just from knowing the "script" so well that she can predict everything with near perfect accuracy
has anyone already written about the rorschach spots that appear at the beginning? "the question what do you see?" is related to them probably
When Star Rail begins, she is playing the transition from that conclusion of the Impact 3rd story, into the beginning of the Star Rail story- and her first Eidolon (unlockable ability) is called Da Capo
so rare to see reaction of a man of culture with broad horizons who undestood it all, people nowdays know so little
One of the best analysis (considering you're not plating the game and don't know the character) I've seen.
3:07 it's true that she kind of is the destiny bc she's the one meting out the actions needed for everything to fall into place
I personally feel like the projector is a representation of Elio's script that she's following and then when the parts she's been given ends, she makes her own choices like the scene with the coin flip
this video made me realise that her glasses resemble arachnid eyes; with them being the big pair and her real eyes being the smaller set beneath them. spiders and sharks deep black eyes have an eeriness to them. in my mind they represent innocence and callousness
She's a Drider from a DnD campaign in disguise, and I love it.❤
there was actually a part in the luofu quest at the divination commission where her eyes were normal and not glowing
@@clementine5366 I see. There must a human in there somewhere then.
I lovethe Part where the elevator counts how many Enemies Kafka left
For me she was like Arachne, the daughter of Idmon of Colophon in Lydia, a dyer in purple.
9:09 the red flower petals symbolizes blood.
noticed some of the words on a reaction i watched. but other than macguffin i did not know what they meant other than being film making references by proxy of maguffin being a film making reference. so like the character herself i knew something was up with those words but could not explain it

I was getting The Fates, The Grey Sisters vibe when i watched her trailer.

I wish you wouldve talked a bit about how they implemented the rorschach test into the trailer and how it basically shows that shes manipulating you
Elevator clock being death count is very cool
Got Kafka and her lightcone in 74 pulls. I am on cloud 9
On some of her distortion before "what do you see", you actualy can see rorschach test.
isnt that also rorschach mask from watchmen
It looks like Kafka is the main reason a lot of people kept playing Star rail. It’s definitely understandable. She is very cool
I never thought its a reference to "No Country for Old Men
it's that grocery store scene with the cashier/owner huh? That scene was intense AF and i never put it together because yknow... this is far off from what it was referencing and the trailer was so good it probably didnt connect in my mind
Star Rail is a legit really great game, not even just for a gacha game. Kafka is an amazing character for sure, very fun to play. Got her on my last 10 pull, after I saved up for 2 months to get her! Good luck pulling boys. Great video and analysis!
Yes, I already got her at 20 pitty, so I am very happy xD
She has to be the best character currently in the game IF you use her right. If you don't use her secondary, regardless of element, she can seem weak. Her secondary is DoT regardless of element and very powerful, often more powerful than the main attack, when used against an enemy with lightning weakness. I saw a DoT damage of 4200 when the main attack was around 200. All of her attacks is quite high for a battle against lightning weakness enemies, as expected.
vivaldi winter will be different form now on for me
Kafka is the threads but elio is the weaver
Asuch as want to say she is in control she isn't. . . She's just a pawn following some other person's orders
calling her "fate" was really close, shes more akin to a tool/weapon of fate. her boss, elio (other comments have talked about him enough so im only gonna say a small bit), will foresee a path to the group's ideal future, and then he scripts out their missions and they act accordingly, following his script to the letter
Peak Kafka ❤
I would've rolled for her. But the glasses not matching the size of her eyes bother me too much to have to look at her XD;;

Aahhh, you said the thing! 😅
We need more classical music in these games
They had a web event where her team copied famous movie posters, you should check it out on your off time
we consider this character as our mother😆
i want to see her final spider boss form, but maybe she will die in story after that event T.T
Red string of fate ahh mommy kafka 😍 we are meant to be together so now come home 😂
What's the most you've ever lost on a coin toss?
What if Kafka is the Emanator of Destiny?
wouldnt that be elio?
Kafka is probably tte most awaited character and I think will be the character the most wished on.
I’m on the fence tho, I want the next 5 star coming up and I was expecting to get jing yuan ( another electro 5star) in a couple months. But I’m in desperate need of an electro character, and apparently she is better than jing yuan dps wise…😭
Ps: I think Kafka is from a Italian inspired « region/planet »
Wow this goes beyond a reaction video… this is more of an analysis video because Jesus Christ you involved Greek mythology and it actually made sense?? Wow… but aren’t the moirae only 3 goddesses? Why 1000 faces?
Wow
