he can see colours, it’s just that red and green are desaturated to the point where they are nearly indistinguishable to him. But it’s not like he just sees everything in greyscale. My mum recently discovered she had the same type of colourblindness and she is 50! She’s most likely always had it, but I guess unless you’re trying to see red things amongst green trees in video games it doesn’t necessarily come up much in day to day.
