Can any leather holster be sanded like that to take down uncomfortable points? And is there some finisher or oil that needs to go on afterwards? Thank you for sharing!
@mountainpatriothomestead When it comes to leather, I'm unsure as I haven't attempted any leather work. I do have future plans of making hybrid holsters however utilizing kydex and leather. As far as finishing, the kydex material doesn't require any special oils or anything. However, one could do custom colors or engravings if they so choose. Thanks for watching!
I can chime in on this one. Leather holsters can be modified within reason like this. The part you really have to worry about are anywhere near a sewed seam because you can weaken or break it. Once complete, you would want to use a burnishing tool to round and smooth any roughed up edges, stain if you need to, and finish with a leather sealant.
@bobknob2518 Thank you! I'd never thought of trying to modify any of my uncomfortable leather holsters until I was watching this. That all makes sense. I just can't get all crazy. 😄
@bobknob2518 I'm sure there is some guidance on this in the professional world. The way I located the holes was keeping edge distancing in mind, while spacing the holes a reasonable distance apart to be functional and visually appealing. With that being said, kydex is a very durable material, so as long as you're not drilling on the edge, it should be fine.

@bobknob2518 thank you for chiming in!
Are there any concerns of cracking or anything within a certain distance of a rivet or retention adjusting screw?
