As someone who has sawn on a manual mill and full hydraulic this is a slick setup I like that kicker on the carriage, saves a lot of scarring on the wood. Also would like to say that I have turned cant on a fast manual mill and that is no easy job either, it appears to me that the sawyer I would say a very good one is also a very powerful man to be throwing logs and cants like that. Love the steam power Great video!
You can tell thes men know what they are doing and each man knows is job keep up the great work
Don't know what's better, the mechanical flip or his flip!!!!!
He sure is a good sawyer, he has each log eyed up to take max from everyone.
Best sawyer I've seen on UA-cam.. by far..
That's what Allen did for a living was head sawer now he's a farmer. He's the guy sawing
Grew up on my daddy’s sawmill. Never seen one run this fast. Really neat setup on the carriage. The fellow running the saw is a beast lol would not want to be stacking. That kicker is something else also. Great setup
You'll never know how much work it is to tail a sawmill, Until you do.
I miss tailing so much. Hard work got my ass kicked for 4years miss it everyday
Incredible teamwork. Great to watch.
I watch this video everyday for inspiration while building ours
I was so fascinated by the sawyer I didn’t notice the huge steam tractor running the mill. Workers are like a colony of ants running to and fro. Great work ethic.
Good sawing and nice sawmill setup
Great sawyer, nice operation!
I love how the stack clears under load as the engine drafts through the smokebox.
interesting mix of technology there . base power for the mill provided by 2 steam traction engines . control power by air/ hydrolics. kduos to the saw master.
Really like to see more of this mill if possible. Explaining the setup..I see air tank and pump
Just wish I could find an old manual carriage to start with, so I could make a mill. Thanks for sharing this video!
Gary Skowbo, I have a handset frick sawmill. Engine and everything else. I'm in ohio.
M Gbill hey thanks for your reply. Very interesting information, just a couple gigantic hurdles . One I am out here in western Colorado and two I don’t have enough money for that kind of expenditure. Thanks again for the offer though. P.s. is it an 0 or a 00. 😀
@@mgbill793 Do you still have it?
I live in Newark, OH
Love to see it, talk about it and maybe purchase.
I own 34 acres in WV and I need a mill.
No time or movement wasted here by these Gents!
The amish familys are raised up different than others in america, honesty, hard work and luxry items are not part of there life. Men work with there bodys all there life. It use to be this way for everyone but now americans for most part are unable to do hard labour but there is still a few.
I think this is so awesome
Solid skills
Nothing better than fighting slab racks when you get a full bundle lol a little oil helps some what
Remarkable...
most sawmills had a trip edger that way U didn't have 2 egde them again w the saw the Sawyers job was sawing lumber and ties that sawmill there is alot newer than the 1 I remember it has a auto log turner and a kicker on it OMG 12 1O 2O22
absolut best!
Some hard working dudes, especially if you set the playback up to 2x. Lol
he can keep 3 to 4 men running
Nice🙋🙏🏼👍👍👍
Wow flipping that cant one handed
YEAH MAN U can saw alot of lumber in a day's time like 👍 👌 that they have 2 keep the logs on the deck 😉 U can see 👀 it doesn't take long 2 saw a log that's all old school now that's how U make lumber U didn't go 2 Lowes or 84 lumber then and get it U sawed it yourself or got someb1 2 do so back then U could find lumber yards no more OMG 11 24 2O22
Man that things fast !!! How are you running pneumatics?
The air gets fed in on the pantograph on upper left side of carriage. Basically a trussed hinge with hose and a swivel.
Nice fab job, were setting up an old Oxford now. Hope we see some more of your videos for inspiration 😎thx again
@@brandocommando36 Actually I was just giving info out. I am not affiliated with the video poster. I have spent since 1982 working in the timber industry. I worked as a millwright from 1987 to 2012 when my back finally needed fused...twice. My body is not willing but my brain is still in the game. My son was trained in my pocket and has been maintenance guy since 2000. My Dad was in maintenance from 1970 til the late 90's. I love the sound of a saw running!
That things fast
can't keep any logs on the log deck that's because the sawyer is sawing as fast as they are put on the air makes a difference air set works , air dogs ,air log turner all up grades 2 make lumber production faster OMG 12 1O 2O22
What type of wood are they cutting?
most Sawyers IVE seen take a slab and 2 boards of each side be 4 they turn the log not all Sawyers saw the same most Sawyers learned how 2 saw by turning logs 1ST or they learn how from dad ,grandpa, or a uncle or good 👍 friend moms dad was a sawyer 2 he could look at a 🌳 and tell U what U could out of that tree down 2 the feet of board all of those old Sawyers back were all old school that's how the people were back 😉 then OMG 11 24 2O22
FAST !!!!!!!
Eres,un,maquinista,muy,avil
If that' man was just sawing square s he would put a lot of lumber out in a day
HI THERE NICE JOHN
This guy is a beast - he could work a crew of men to death trying to keep up - If you’ve ever worked at a sawmill you know it’s work
Green lumber ain’t no joke
