- Announcing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 5 Thunderbolts movie at this year's San Diego Comic Con, Kevin Feige and the good folks at Marvel Studios also took advantage of their platform at the D23 Expo and revealed the rag tag vigilante team’s official line up. Speculation among fans ran its course leading up to that moment, theories and questions revolving around which MCU characters, old and new, would join the Thunderbolts roster. Now knowing who our starting seven misfit supers are, we reckon it’s the perfect time to make a video examining and ranking the confirmed members of the MCU Thunderbolts team thus far… as well as doing a little speculating of our own.
Looking at the original government sanctioned group of disguised heroes and villains from the 1996 comic Incredible Hulk #449, you’ll notice that the cinematic iteration is quite different as far as who’s on the team. Citizen V AKA Baron Zemo, Mach-1 AKA The Beetle, Meteorite AKA Moonstone, Atlas AKA Goliath, Techno AKA The Fixer, and Songbird AKA Screaming Mimi, all took on new aliases upon forming the group and are the OG comic book members of the Thunderbolts. Furthermore, with the unfortunate and untimely passing of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross actor William Hurt, the character which the Thunderbolts get their name from in both comics and cinema, it is unclear how Marvel will choose to address this and explain the origin of the team itself. Perhaps this video might shed some light on that too. All being said, join us as we refresh our memories and rank the power-levels of every member of the MCU Thunderbolts.

Do you think we'll see Bucky in the MCU's Thunderbolts?
Umm typo? Take it u meant Abomination or Zeno? Id like to see Deadpool, Agent Venom, and Punisher (John Berthal) on a future lineup. Comic characters like Atlas, Star, Penance, Songbird, Jolt exc. Maybe even a wildcard like Shang-chi sister, Scarlett Scarab or Red Dagger.

I can’t wait for this movie the thunder bolts are honestly spectacular and the lineup they picked needed more time as Characters in the mcu and I’m glad they are getting it!
Apart from ghost every single member has the same potential and strengths, but I'm excited for this .
Interpersonal dynamics and conflicts would definitely be a big part of the film (kind of like the first avengers film), with the connections all the characters have with eachother, especially the various super soldier projects in the MCU.
Taskmaster has quite a large potential

@@rahulgomes1472 While that is consistent with most versions of taskmaster, it’s likely that Antonia will develop her own personality and wants. This could take place before the film, or over the course of the events as she interacts with the other members of the group.
US Agent, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster better have a shield wall scene.

Bucky and Yelena deserve to be the leaders
Bucky and taskmaster better get along well. I feel like they'd connect in a lot of ways.
How about this for a twist? What if it is not Thaddeus or Betty? What if it is Everett Ross? Everett who used to be a pilot who may have garnered the call-sign Thunderbolt or flew in the A-10 Thunderbolt? He has been on both sides of the superhero divide, first trying to contain superheroes in regards to the Accords and then having to fight alongside a technologically advanced civilization who are now apparently under fire from the world for their tech. I could definitely see him signing on to a shadowy, government directed super team.
He has a role in Secret Invasion, so maybe that show will set him up as being the true mind behind the Thunderblots, creating a covert team he can trust after witnessing the Skrulls invade.

John walker is personally my favorite one.
Honestly i think John is such an interesting character and he brings so much to the story both in plot and in humor. I really like him and look forward to seeing his dynamic with other characters in this movie

If I were to rank the Thunderbolts members from weakest to strongest (with their standard weapons and gear, plus the intention to kill):
1. Ghost
2. Taskmaster
3. Bucky / Yelena
4. Yelena / Bucky
5. U.S. Agent
6. Red Guardian
I can’t to see Bucky in the thunderbolts it’s about time that he get a superhero group like the avengers
How come we never found out what happened to Taskmaster and the Red Guardian in present day in the MCU? Are they the best choices to be on the Thunderbolts team? Would Red Guardian get a better costume in the Thunderbolts movie that fits him just right and not too tight? I wanted to see Red Guardian in the Falcon and Winter Soldier Disney Plus show to clash with US Agent but we'll this happening in the Thunderbolts movie
The costume in the concept art does have a lot more black on it, suggesting the outfit is either modified or brand new (or maybe he decided to work out between films). I could definitely see him butting heads with Walker and Bucky.
I think U.S Agent and Red Guardian will have the same hatred like Peacemaker and Rick Flag.
Camaraderie will be key to making this work. Definitely want to see Bucky lead this group which won't happen...the best he can do is point in the right direction. Since they're all crazy...this will be fun. This will be alot of talking for a guy frozen on and off for over 80 years. Agree about the Baron...he would be great.
Interms of the line up I'm ovbiously super super happy with Yelena, super happy with John Walker, I didn't want Bucky to be on the team, I'm not a fan of the character. Red guardian was a surprise but I'm ok with him on the team. And I enjoyed Ghost and Taskmaster alot more than most other people so I'm excited to see them get more screen time and recognition. I'm very confused as to why abomination and especially Zemo aren't on the team but hopefully they'll end up joining
Zemo comes in and takes over as leader with a new roster that reflects the OG team.

Super soldiers galore. What I am wondering is if US Agent and Red Guardian (possibly Bucky as well) will get their own shields in the movie and Jennifer Connelly or Liv Tyler will reprise the role of Betty Ross respectfully?
Don't forget, Taskmaster has his own shield lol. Also, with return of Betty Ross (What if..?), General Ross, Roger Harrington (Peter Parker's future science professor/lab tech. Bruce Banner gave pizza to), Abomination, and now The Leader all from Incredible Hulk. Imagine if the dad from modern family bulks up, dies hair green & returns as Doc Sampson! Lol

Black Widow II IS a member of the T-Bolts in Norman Osborne’s era of running the team during the Dark Reign stories. First Black Widow I Impersonated her, then Osborne outed her and revealed he had the second Widow (literally) on ice before freezing her from stasis.

Mainly I would like to see characters like Zemo, abomination , swordsman , punisher and elektra thats if those last two characters will ever appear in the mcu just like daredevil.

I still don't think this is the final line up for the team. I think we'll see Abomination on the team once She-Hulk is over and we know his status at the end. And possibly a classic comic character from the Thunderbolts closer to Release, Possibly bringing in someone who hasn't had an MCU debut yet.

The video says what Bucky's training made him "sort of like a Super Soldier". Nope. He had the same version of the serum Steve had put into him when being experimented on by HYDRA in a prison camp in WW2. He's an outright Super Soldier. One of the first ones, in fact.
There's a simple reason why Zemo and Abomination weren't mentioned... Because they'll be spoiling some future project (probably She-Hulk for the Abomination for example). On hindsight, will Zemo even join a team of at least 3 supersoldiers??

William Hurt did a great job, but I hope they bring Sam Elliot is brought back as Ross. I thought he did a great job as the character.
How is Ghost on the Thunderbolts team since we never found out what happened to her after Ant-Man and the Wasp where Scott was too late to bring her some healing particles from the Quantum Realm? Will this be answered in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumainia movie?
The original Wasp (mom) saved her when Scott brought her back in 2 🤷🏼♂️

Considering hulk showed and explained to jen in 'She hulk' why he destroyed her hulk blood, and it's before the thunderbolts, that's probably where it's going towards or something. Just think about it! ✌

You mean Arsshole Ross?
Maybe General Ross was injured in the explosion that turned Bruce into Hulk and was cloned and placed in cryo like Bucky was and the clone became older and Arsshole Ross. We could then get a younger man as the new, real Ross, who might not be an Arsshole.
Maybe the new/original Ross gets injection of Hulk King's blood and becomes Red Hulk! Then Betty is hurt and gets a blood injection the turns her into Red She-Hulk like in the comics of Earth 616!
I need Sadie Sink as Songbird and Citizen-V in the MCU.
How come Bucky is on the Thunderbolts team since he's already reformed after Avengers Endgame? Is he and Yelena Belova Black Widow going to be the Rick Flag of the team?
The team is fairly vanilla compared to the Suicide Squad anyways. Bucky Yelena and Red Guardian are much closer to heroes than villians at this point,and Taskmaster is just an early stage winter Soldier (basically she can't be blamed because anything bad she did she was being controlled). So only Ghost and John Walker are morally grey (and I'd even argue than both of them are more good than bad)
....because the writers don't get Bucky. They seem to think he's a villain and always has been.
To be honest, the Thunderbolts is the only Marvel project I'm truly excited for. After the recent flops of Phase 4 and the M-SHE-U, I'm kind of worried.
What if transformers universe shared the mcu universe
If these six anti heroes in the thunderbolts i would have others like Titania, Atlas, Baron zemo, red hulk, abomination, Justin hammer , beetle, songbird and many more on the way

I feel the movie might get a little boring and lack sequel potential because of how similar the team members are, I would've put the punisher or maybe introduce a simple character from the comics

Update: Harrison Ford has been recasted as Ross/Red Hulk for Captain America 4, and the Thunderbolts.
Additionally, Yelena and Bucky should be the highest on the list as they are great. I hope that the upcoming “Secret Invasion” with Nick Fury show features Norman Osborne as a mastermind that ends with him assuming ownership of Stark Industries. With it, he becomes Iron Patriot. In the ending events of the Thunderbolts movie, either John leaves the group because of differences and his further issues with the SSS, or Val and John both leave with Bucky becoming the leader. The post credit scene would conclude with Norman Osborn recruiting John or John and Val, thus starting the recruitment of the team that will be known as the “Dark Avengers.”

It's just weird that John is vilified in the show while the flag smashers get praise under the same serum.

Where is Hellcat? Diamondback? They're locked up in The Raft, so they're ripe for the picking. Bucky shouldn't be in this lineup, as much as I like him. FATWS was him moving on from his Winter Solider past. So why is he on a team of Pseudo-Supervillains? Alexei is literally USAgent with added experience. Val shouldn't be in the Lineup, but act as the Amanda Waller of the Thunderbolts. I hope they bring back Justin Hammer as an Iron Man stand in.

Would he have prevented Nick Fury from giving the E.D.I.T.H glasses to Peter Parker as well as shutting down Damage Control which got turned into an Agency for hunting down enhanced individuals cause if so, would all that have prevented everything that happened during Spider-Man No Way Home?

He is ranked at the top of the Supersoldiers. He's just below Ghost who can turn intangible putting her in a completely different level,and potentially Red Hulk who's just on a league of his own if he's there

Thunderbolts is seeming like a girl power movie being built into the team done right imo.
Hopefully people aren’t still mad for the gender swaps. Looking forward to this one.
The I'm still pissid with how they did taskmaster, but that's my only nitpick, the gender swap was just unnecessary. And it robbed us of the chance of having the true taskmaster we know from the comics.
