Juelz Santana and Memphis Bleek had similar trajectories during their time under Roc-A-Fella Records in the 2000s. Both were considered protégés of two of the biggest rappers in the game (Cam’ron and JAY-Z, respectfully) with a massive amount of hype behind them, and they were known to lay down a fiery verse or two. So when it comes to them engaging in a Verzuz battle, it makes a lot of sense.

I'm 37 and was still living in New York at that time. I thought back then and still do now that Juelz and bleek were both average. But I will say they were the culture, and they were us. Every young kid from the projects that wanted to dress fly, have all throwback jerseys, fitted new Era caps, and fly kicks. There was nothing like those times in NYC.

I think Juelz confused by his bit of star power that might edge Bleek. When you cut through that and get to the music and mc'ing Bleek has the edge. Especially for NY artist. It's about the MCing...just like the lox vs dipset. Niggas want to hear some heat. And Bleek got more heat in the catalog. Neither have a bunch of stand alone hits. This Versuz needs to happen!!

Outside of Cam there was no lyrical competition for Juelz… Jim eventually becomes bigger but for a large portion before Jim fount Max B and had him ghost write Juelz was there go to rapper behind Cam. In terms of bars just bars separate Juelz adlibs and the way he used to pause in the middle of his verse screaming A!! Lol and all that …lol bad for bar they damn near same boat “to me” Bleek had some descent moments lyrically but would get over shadowed. Case n point I really used to like Bleek verse on “You, Me, Him and Her”… the song on dynasty when him, jay beans and Amil all rapping back to back but Beans went retarted on that song and smoked Bleek lol… He just was never able to separate from Hov and Beans.. songs like “Coming of age” on Vol2 that’s damn near the best song on that whole album but that’s jay z album most aren’t even gonna created Bleek for that. He got mishandled and over shadowed by two lyrical legends were Cam is a better manager of talent and Juelz was able to shine more plus niggas around him wasn’t as nice on Dipset I’m sorry even someone like JR Writer who ok I think he lyrically was way better then Juelz but he didn’t have the buzz to compete Juelz damn near was bigger then Cam for a split second. Also in terms of going back n forth with prime Wayne I agree wit you 100% to me it was more so Juelz style/swag and charisma that carried him next to Wayne cause Wayne really was frying him on every song lol we was just astonished that Juelz was even able to not be drowned out on the song but I never used to listen to any song on can’t feel my face and think Juelz was close to Weezy I just used to feel like he was a good compliment to who I really wanted to hear at that time and it was Wayne..
