15:45 "That was fucking great! That was insanely good!" I agree. Right now this is a 9/10 for me and I'll readily bump it to 10 if the other three episodes can keep this level of horror and uniqueness.
3:15 The animation seems like 15 or less FPS and I'm sure it's intentional. It makes it even more eerie and otherworldly. 4:40 I LOVE this black and white drawing-type animation style. It makes it seem that I'm staring at a manga and it comes to life in front of me.
It is great, however they just chopped up the beginning of story, a lot of details are missing so each scene is dijointed from the next. Which isnt a good sign for whats to come if they are cutting out so much and showing more of a short story collection style even though uzumaki isnt that
They swapped around some events and slowed down some of the action. But there hasn't been a lot of things missing. I think it mostly feels disjointed, because they decided to adapt multiple chapters/storylines at the same time. Manga starts with the father and then continues with the mother storylines. Here they adapted father's storyline, but instead of focusing fully on the mother, they started adapting the girl with the scar as well. Pretty much adapting chapters 1 and 3, instead of first 2 (it is notable that parts of the introduction to Shuichis father and like the bullying girls did to Azami was also cut, but then that could be for pacing reasons and those things weren't necessarily adding a lot? Oh and they started the chapter 8 storyline about the sweaty boy, which - kinda makes sense, with them going to school, I guess, it let's his transformation to brew in slower more natural pace). I do feel like this makes it less collection style than the actual work is. Each spiral death is contained in actual manga, here they are mixing it up more. But it may be just for promotional value? Azami ans her scar is very popular visual from this series, so maybe they wanted to include her in first episode. Hopefully that changes in later episodes.
@@mjm3091What do you mean? Of course it makes sense to merge stories together. I get why some people like manga with it's collection style, but I always thought that stories in the middle of Uzumaki suffered from it, some of which were barely connected to the prior and later ones. I feel that merging stories does work better of showing rising suspense and just more natural way to tell stories, although of course in this case pacing does hurt the experience.
12:20 "That's funny to you all?" Yup. With the Japanese Conformity Culture it's great fun in MS and HS to mock and bully those who don't fit in. If you are the absolute peak of the class you're left alone but otherwise if you don't fit in you're relentlessly mocked and bullied, or at best isolated and ignored. It would appear from some reading I've done that the bullying anime/manga trope is not really exaggerated much. US bullying is nothing compared to Japan. I guess that's because in Japan they don't have to worry about the bullying target coming in one day in a trench coat and going all Neo on their ass like you do in the US. Since the teachers don't seem to give a shit and having a common "enemy" unites the class there are no consequences for bullying.
8:35 Typical. A woman is only interesting in 1) the guy who recently got a girlfriend, or 2) the guy who doesn't chase after her like all of the other guys do. There's a saying that the most enticing guy to a woman is the one who is already taken.
the rotoscoping animation worked pretty well in making the characters move uncanny

@@ulfgarion wrong @ I assume?
It's still good cuz it makes the scenes less slow and it hypes the viewers more especially the new watchers
I feel this was done because episode 3 has the majority of the iconic imagery from the series.

There are barely any consequences in the US, honestly.
