I love how Rorschach and Nite Owl are essentially the two biggest parts of Batman. Rorschach is the gritty, brooding and detective aspects while Niteowl is the gadget-heavy and more suit similar hero, also trying to avoid killing
Actually Rorschach and Nite Owl represent The Question and Blue Beetle more so. I mean come on: 'Masked' detective who wears a hat and goes through grim and dark places. A gadget heavy hero with lots of money and uses an animal as their theme. Gained weight. And as a flying large beetle shaped ship with 2 big lenses/windshields on the front that are meant to seem like eyes. Speaking of which, they also have goggles.
"See doctor, God didn't kill that little girl, fate didn't butcher her, destiny didn't feed her to those dogs... God doesn't make the world this way, we do."
Best superhero and DC film ever in my humble opinion. Rorschach is a straight up G. Jackie Earle Haley should get more recognition for this amazing performance. He has such a legendary and a raspy voice. It seems also that he is the only individual and person in the plot that cares about justice and order to society yet he has the most tragic and difficult story. It was upsetting to see his childhood trauma and flashbacks of abuse. Very hard life. So many good lines from him. Zack's Snyder's by far best movie and most underrated as well. "Your turn doctor, tell me... what do you see??" Awesome. Jackie is so intimidating and menacing but in a great way. You admire his personas he plays. Professional actor. Easily one of the greatest and most badass character ever. Thank you for this lovely tribute. This guy is just a force of nature and deserved better at the end.
I also agree Rorschach is one of the best in my opinion also honestly I couldn't say why any better than you have but I'm just glad there is someone else who sees Rorschach the same as me which is ironic considering his name being Rorschach and people usually don't see the same thing with a Rorschach.
@@isaacwood4763 He's one of the few nice people in this movie alongside with Dan and Laurie. Rorschach has sympathy, good-will and morals especially on the poor suffering and is very well written. The Comedian is a ruthless, twisted, charismatic scumbag with no decency, Manhattan and Ozymandias are corrupted, vile, manipulative, brainwashing, broken, inhumane terrorists. In fact the only problem with this movie I had was what happened to Walter Kovach. They did him so dirty and dishonorably just because he was right. All of Dan's exploding raging anger in the aftermath wasn't enough to portray how the viewer feels about it. Taking out the best character like that wasn't cool. Whenever Walter is "violent" it is in complete self-defense because he is being attacked. Greatest detective ever and a good person. Rorschach might be the most epic character ever put in cinema. So much charisma and personality. Also having Jackie Earle Haley do anything is automatically a win for everyone he's so incredible and badass. Watchmen died with him.
although Rorschach is an interesting character they are by no means a hero, they're a violent menially ill many with serious trauma and a very black and wight view of the world that drastically affects their decision making and rationality.
Definitely underrated. I would have liked to see the blob alien, but the rest of the film does justice to the comics, unlike most corporate bastardizations of our favorite IPs.
Do you know it’s a good thing that Zack Snyders Watchman is basically a panel for panel reconstruction of the graphic novel it’s based on. Mostly because the original graphic novel was fantastic, but also because Even though I have only read the graphic novel and not seen the film, I can still enjoy wonderful little edits like this with basically full context.
So glad you enjoyed! That's what I like the most about Snyder's directing style, it always looks like the comic book came to life and the movie is still one of my favorites even though there were some changes in the adaption, it all worked perfectly well
Exactly and it was brilliantly executed both in the comic and the movie. That's the type of character arc I'd love to see in new superhero movies too, unfortunately they are often really one note now. Happy New Year to you too! 🥰
agree, that’s why i always prefer dc dark serious and mature (even gritty sometimes) tone than lighthearted joke marvel tone (the only few marvel character i like are punisher and wolverine to be honest)
I think Rorschach was the first case of a live action adaptation of a comic keeping the monologues I know that we had something like this on animated shows like the Spider-Man one but i think Watchmen was the first big project doing that
That's an interesting detail! I'm pretty sure The Batman took some inspiration from it too. The whole Watchmen movie was really groundbreaking for the superhero genre.
Rorschach is one of my favortite characters ever. From his design, his beliefs/ideologies. i remember when i first viewed watchmen, and seeing Rorschach die, i was sad lol. Great video! one of my favorites from you !!
Same! I saw the movie before reading the graphic nove back thenl and I remember being shocked over the ending lol Thank you for the praise, that means a lot to me! 🥰
You genius! This perfectly captures everything about the character and your love for this adaptation of the character rivals that of my own. Happy new year and I am adding this video to my personal collection of favourite videos.
One of my favorite movies, and one of my favorite characters. Rorschach is truly amazing. Like always great edit, pure essence of Rorschach. Definitely 👍
He was based on The Question when Allan Moore wasn't allow to use him (along with other heroes) who had an excellent protoryal in JLU, I highly suggest the Fan Film The Questions.
@alanacrane As someone who enjoys watching videos like this and has watched hundreds of similar videos, I'd like to say that the music, the transitions between scenes, and the ability to hear the actors talk with the music was beautifully done. I'm going to check out the rest of your work, but another video about Rorschach would be awesome if you could make one. Thank you for the work you do. Bless up
Man Zack Snyder was way ahead of it’s time with his films. Imagine if DC actually left DC in his hands. How much better it would be. Kinda wish he was the one who got hired to reboot the whole DC. Not a fan of James Gunn. Like Snyder most his DC films destroyed the 600+ Million USD box office and James Gunn struggled to hit 170 Million with TSS. I'm trying to stay open for the upcoming changes but I'm not a fan of the whole Marvel formula at all and I really, really hope that's not where DC is headed. TSS was a decent action movie but we need more nuance and variety. I'll keep following the DCU for now but I'm more excited for Matt Reeves projects than anything else at this point. That said, I would have prefered a complete Snyderverse over the mess that has been happening in the past few years with DC
