There is no other woman like Kate Bush, ever since a kid I've been totally mesmerized by her beauty and vocals, nobody comes close as to how she makes me feel
Kate is completely amazing artist, and after reading book "Under the ivy" by Graeme Thomson and listening to interviews I think she is a wonderful personality also. She is one of a kind!
We were all in love with Kate, there has never been such a gifted artist as her. This song is amazing, just listen to the strings backing....all her Studio albums absolutely brilliant...my only regret is I never got to see her live.
It is a deep meditation on transience, of the impermanence of life, and a summoning of those we love. Words from those that guided us, as children, now retooled, but as spells that creep into our psyches, haunting us, like the fog creeping into our physical realm. So incredibly wistful and evocative at once. The arrangements take it over the top. Never heard the fog come to life as sound, but here it does. I think it is quite possibly the best track she ever recorded.
I just hope that I die before Kate does. She has been along with me these past 40 years. From teenage boy to middle aged man. I really don't think I'd find old age without her very easy. God bless you Kate. I'm not sure I'd have done it without you.
Same story here my friend! I first heard her on TV late one night. I was totally knocked over by her beauty and.....my GOD! That voice! Probably the most beautiful feminine voice I've ever heard and even to this very day. Cheers :)
Yes she has been with me since I was 15 and now 57. Was enchanted and in shock from her very first notes of wuthering heights as I never heard any sound so other worldly and beautiful and got me thru the rest of my unhappy childhood and my life! Showing me it's good to be true to yourself and unique x so many of her songs resonate with me and hold precious memories forever! Indebted to you kate xxxx🙏💚🌳🍃
I had a breaking moment in my car listening to this song, it felt ethereal like my deceased beloved Mother was trying to break through to me in some strange way..oddly a vehicle at the side of me had the word 'angel' on its door, it was a special needs car for the disabled ..I knew it spelt communication from out there to me at that intense moment, cried and felt lost in wonder all at the very same time, the Beautiful Kate...thank you
Kay Anderson As I stayed with my mothers body, waiting for them to take her away, my phone started playing this song..... I was happy to read your words. It has been 3 days now and it is playing in my head virtually in all moments I am conscious, playing in the background. I looked online to look for a video and found this. So sweet.
Fantastic lookin back how yes, Kate was associated with the 80s but you only have to listen to her music and realise that she was way out there in her own universe. How many albums from the 80s could be returned to and appreciated like this? Kate you are your own vision.
Someone comments below that they detest the iconic images of Kate in this video, detest the idolisation. That is a valid position and I understand it. But I don’t agree. We all know that somewhere in Devon there is a middle-aged woman called Mrs Catherine McIntosh, who is in some sense a different person from Kate Bush. Only her friends and family know Mrs McIntosh. We know Kate. It is Kate, the persona, who receives our archetypal projections so fully and so readily - the Anima, the Beloved, the Witch, the Child, the Kore, the Goddess. That is why she is so fascinating. That is why her work seems so drenched in nostalgia - she is making us remember something we already know but have forgotten. When I saw her on Top of the Pops in 1978, I was a 13 year old boy. I was transfixed. She was like a Hierophany of the Feminine to me. She still is. This ability to embody the archetypes is I think the source of her extraordinary power as an artist. Kate is, or appears to be, integrated. She knows her Shadow (Wedding List) and her Animus (This Woman’s Work). So, it is not surprising that many fans use archetypal images to express what Kate Bush’s work means to them. It is not Kate Bush that they regard with awe and reverence, but the archetypes she embodies. And so we should regard them. I do not think that it is detestable to create such images, however trite. I’m a middle-aged engineer, all logos and not much eros. INTJ through-and-through. Kate embodies eros like no other artist I know. If I could draw, I would draw images like those in the video, fully aware that Kate Bush, the artistic genius, is as capable of having a bad hair day or being a pain in the arse as the rest of us are.
Thank you so much for this song Kate. My wife and I have known each other for 31 years but the ocean currents of life carried us away from each other for 18 of them. I never forgot her and she never forgot me. We have now been married for 13 years and every day Im madly in love with her. The things she does, the things she says, the way she reads my mind and I read hers. I could not exist without her and this song describes our love perfectly. Some people are afraid of such a deep love but when you are so intertwined you sink into it and it becomes part of who you are. This world seems shabby by comparison.
Another one of Kate's masterpieces. Beautiful from start to finish. The strings give this song such emotion, but Kate's voice on the line "This love was big enough for the both of us" at 1:55 really does it for me. Stunningly beautiful. A genius. No other word to describe her. There's an extraordinary depth to Kate's lyrics. It always feels as if every word comes from deep within her soul.
Kate's vocals with the violin deftly following is the most ethereal song I've ever heard. I melt every time I hear it. Of all of Kate's songs that I wish were on radio - this is the one. People would mistake it for a new single by someone they never heard of.
Scott Simon once said, 'We Don't Fully Grow Up' Until We Lose Our Parents...lost my father when I was 17, and now Mom is gone....guess I'm all grown-up now. Como fotografía te recojo Como una canción en la radio. yo te recojo Como una cara entre la multitud. yo te recojo Como la sensación de que estás enviando Lo recojo No puedo dejarte ir Si te dejo ir Caes en la niebla... I'm all grown up now....miss you Mom...miss you much....
This whole album is still brilliant after all these years. The entire thing can move me to tears in seconds. A dreamy soundscape. I wish I had better words to describe the feelings Kate's music stirs in me.
All those who found their way to this comment section already are in mutual agreement that this is so, so far beyond what could be expressed with words. You just have to feel it, and with this song in particular, you have no choice but to. ❤🖤
I listened to the ninth wave at first when I was a child in 1985. 37 Years later it still gives me the goosebumps and make me cry in good way It is still the most amazing music I'ver heard.
Indeed, very dreamy. Exceptionally beautiful and full of emotion. It is far too difficult to explain how splendid a song this masterpiece is. This is a true pearl among many other pearls of hers. Cello sounds dramatic. Beautiful violin and quitar. Wow!
One of her most sensual, evocative songs on the entire sensual album! The violin solo is sex on strings and the whole piece just exudes audible musk..... Brilliant!
"I can't let you go. If I let you go, you slip into the fog..." Then, as if it wasn't enough, the orchestra kicks in. And then, just in case you doubted her godhood, the violin. "This love was big enough for the both of us This love of yours was big enough to be frightened of Deep and dark, like the water was The day I learned to swim"
I'm only adding this for 'viral' reasons...it's one of the most amazingly beautiful songs I've ever heard. Yes, I'm a KB fan but this takes my heart & soul somewhere I never expect it to. It's simply sublime and in a class of its own.
I love the sensual world ,! ,,and of all the tracks,,,,this is its unspoken crowning glory,,,from it's haunted violins and swimming echo,,,to the point where she compares a relationship and it's nervous fervour to being in water and trusting in someone to let her go ,then catch her again, like leaning to swim. The strings kill me . It is beautiful , right till the end where it loops and loops and loops and loops fades away
Has anyone noticed that this song is sort of a tribute to her father while the next song on the album (Reaching Out) seems to be a tribute to her mother? I'd never noticed until recently but now it seems obvious.
Whilst on her album “Hounds of Love”, the song “Cloudbusting” (for her father) comes after “Mother Stands for Comfort” (for her mother). She is truly her parents’ daughter :)
Symphony, perhaps my favorite Kate song. So haunting, sad, wonderful, uplifting and beautiful. From my favorite Kate album. Pure genius. btw: Love your French artists playlists.
This describes my first long relationship so aptly. Things can get freaky and scary in romantic relationship sometimes. There are behaviors that are labeled as products of deep, once in a life-time kind of love. But it can get disturbing so easily. There has to be reason and sensibility along with love.
“Symphony”. Your collection is a source of pure joy to me... My overall favourite Kate will forever be PASSING THROUGH AIR but this song plus “Hounds” run very close.... Thankyou for all the time effort and passion you have spent treating us..
Looking at Kate's fotos from her childhood, from this video and others, I get the feeling that Mom and Pop, Hannah and Robert, had a little Hippie in 'em.
Definitely her brothers did. Mom, former nurse and homemaker (and Irish dancer) and pop, General Practitioner, seem to have been very supportive of all their children.
You see, I'm all grown up now He said Just put your feet down child 'Cause you're all grown up now Just like a photograph I pick you up Just like a station on the radio I pick you up Just like a face in the crowd I pick you up Just like a feeling that you're sending out I pick it up But I can't let you go If I let you go You slip into the fog This love was big enough for the both of us This love of yours Was big enough to be frightened of It's deep and dark like the water was The day I learned to swim He said Just put your feet down child Just put your feet down child The water is only waist high I'll let go of you gently Then you can swim to me Is this love big enough to watch over me? Big enough to let go of me? Without hurting me Like the day I learned to swim 'Cause you're all grown-up now Just put your feet down child The water is only waist high I'll let go of you gently Then you can swim to me
One of Kate's underrated masterpieces. It's transcendent.
“I'll let go of you gently, then you can swim back to me” so beautiful
There is no other woman like Kate Bush, ever since a kid I've been totally mesmerized by her beauty and vocals, nobody comes close as to how she makes me feel
I agree totally ❤
Kate is completely amazing artist, and after reading book "Under the ivy" by Graeme Thomson and listening to interviews I think she is a wonderful personality also. She is one of a kind!
Exceptional intelligence didn't harm her either, l shall read the book you suggest
We were all in love with Kate, there has never been such a gifted artist as her. This song is amazing, just listen to the strings backing....all her Studio albums absolutely brilliant...my only regret is I never got to see her live.
Another timeless Kate Bush classic just waiting to be rediscovered.
Truly precious and beautiful song by my so very, very, very beloved and talented Kate Bush!!
❤beloved YES like someone I cherish want so much beloved precious and so important To mexxx

My very favorite Kate song. To say it is beautiful or emotional, is an immense understatement.

Literally jealous that you can make up your mind.
So, so true...💙 !!!
No words only breathing and movement

Andy Pocock same same, she’s one of my icon, one of my favourite witch 🙏🏻💜😘
same for me buddy.I´m 52.
@@Blackestblack666 I totally agree she is the most amazing female vocalist I've loved her ever since I was a child
My favourite song on the Sensual World. When Nigel Kennedy's violin comes
with the guitar it's a mind and body altering moment.
This is also my favorite song from that album.
It's gorgeous isn't it? Everyone goes on about Hounds of love being her best album but I think there's songs on this album just as good.
Haha! It's been my favorite part too, since the first time I heard it! Amazing!
Laurent Lapinte Lestang That's the one. And Kate seems to create moments like this time and again. What a gift and a talent.
I concur with you Richard... my favourite female artist by far...
The most beautiful and talented femail artist in the world. Nobody comes anywhere near her.
She’s my favorite music artist. She’s privy to magic.
That's a good way of putting it. Yes, I think you're right.
Do you know Kate personals or noIrena
May I ask you do you had arhive Irena Sikanjic
This song is amazing, it's like an gateway to the unconscious memory of childhood.
Weird, only KAte could do that to me but from different songs of hers.

To me it's the violin coming in around 1:28 as a prelude to the vocal 30 seconds later ...
Couldn't agree more...
She is just amazing, she has us all mesmerized!!
spot on I agree with your comments, its a fantastic song I just keep playing this over and over....
Spot on...she mesmarised so many of us back then. Only ever be her, beautiful, talented, we were all so in love with her then.
1:28 I remimember when I heard this string part for first time it was one of the most stunning feeling I've ever experienced while listening to music.
@Angelo Siracusa me too..
Wonderful orchestration. She is blessed with some marvelous collaborators.

As soon the violins kick in my tears well up. I can't let go of this song today.

this song kicks ass. yeah man!

Thank you for all the effort and work that you put into celebrating the talent of Kate Bush. Much appreciated.

Looking at Kate's fotos from her childhood, from this video and others, I get the feeling that Mom and Pop, Hannah and Robert, had a little Hippie in 'em.
Definitely her brothers did. Mom, former nurse and homemaker (and Irish dancer) and pop, General Practitioner, seem to have been very supportive of all their children.
awesome artist!!! Love
beautiful images of Kate
How often do you hear a track that CONSISTENTLY leaves your hairs standing on end?
Every time I hear this..
The melody is almost miraculous.
I so love this song. Nice video!
Love this one.
Excellent video
Beautiful
Amazing
jamais entendu , jamais écouté , comme si je sortais d un brouillard vieux comme le temps ; to ear , never mind...tout resplendit
Very nice. I enjoyed this a lot,
You see, I'm all grown up now
He said
Just put your feet down child
'Cause you're all grown up now
Just like a photograph I pick you up
Just like a station on the radio
I pick you up
Just like a face in the crowd
I pick you up
Just like a feeling that you're sending out
I pick it up
But I can't let you go
If I let you go
You slip into the fog
This love was big enough for the both of us
This love of yours
Was big enough to be frightened of
It's deep and dark like the water was
The day I learned to swim
He said
Just put your feet down child
Just put your feet down child
The water is only waist high
I'll let go of you gently
Then you can swim to me
Is this love big enough to watch over me?
Big enough to let go of me?
Without hurting me
Like the day I learned to swim
'Cause you're all grown-up now
Just put your feet down child
The water is only waist high
I'll let go of you gently
Then you can swim to me
Wonderful track and sounding as good as it ever did in 2020
Aural Satisfaction.
